I d the premise of this book, but it had a rocky start for me. Meiko just left a bad taste in my mouth from the beginning. I know she is meant to be controlled and confident, but she just came off as stuck-up to me.

'The sound of my high heels on the floor signals my elegance, and the binder under my arm, filled with all the finer points of the big day, signals my efficiency.'

She arrives a week early at the wedding venue to be in control and make sure everything goes the way she wants it to (tells her taxi driver he smells once they arrive), is treated a royal with staff fawning over her, and then catches her fiancé with her wedding planner. Is she sad? Brokenhearted? Nope- just angry and decides to stay quiet and plot her revenge for her wedding day. I assumed she would have taken some photos or a video of them. But no. She somehow gets all his texts/sexts of them to display to everyone, kicks him in the nuts hard enough that he's literally crying for his mommy while all her supporters call out for violence and death while his side of the room slink off in shame. She calmly announces she will look after herself and walks out. It felt so fake and over the top I felt I just watched a scene from a cartoon.

Mustaf and his friends come off as fun-loving teenage frat boys, and he's just as sure of himself as Meiko is, so I wasn't impressed there either. The chemistry between two physically beautiful characters is there, and they each have their own entourage of support. What I d most is what they were together because they flustered each other and that broke the image of pedestal perfection the characters give off.

I tried but I just couldn't get into the story and the characters didn't draw me in. I stopped reading at about 30%. Not for me. 3 stars.

Meiko is out to reclaim her life after a big upset. Mustaf is out for a good time. While on vacation, they both keep crossing paths and the attraction is instant. One night of passion leads to a deeper connection.
The pace of the first half of the book was good and their connection made a lot of sense. The plot was solid, I d the points and the characters were solid. The last third of the book was a little scattered. The accidental pregnancy and their resolution was handled well, but there was one plot point that seemed a little off. Overall, it was a fun story and I can't wait to read more from this author. CJ9,152 54
