So this is the ending to the bear side of things and I have to admit Roxie/Dakota did a great job. A secret love story between a bear and a wolf and then you add a human into the mix and you have a great story.

Austin and Trevor are secret lovers. They are mates that feel they can't come out due to family issues. But when Sloane comes into town Austin and Trevor finally find their tirade partner.

Sloane is hiking in the mountains when she finds a boy with a needle stuck in his neck. When she finds help Austin shows up. Instant chemistry. She has no idea what she has gotten herself into when she finds that boy.

In the shifter world a triad is the way to go. Two mates can be very happy together, but to be completed they need their third. Two shifters and a human is perfectly acceptable, so long as the shifters belong to the same group. It is unheard of, and social suicide to have bears mating with wolves and humans. However, Austin isn't one for following the rules. One of his mates is Trevor of the same wolf pack that imprisoned Olivia. Together they have to keep their secret or face banishment at best. Their third turns up in the form of Sloane, a human on a massive trek. She arrives at the same time as trouble is coming to head, although most are unaware of what is brewing.

These three have a fight on their hands against a militia movement that threatens everyone and everything they know. With secrets and prejudices against them, they have to lay everything open to have any hope of being able to move forwards.

This was a wonderful conclusion to the Shifter Country Bears series, with hot and steamy scenes, but also with a strong sense of family and what is right and wrong.

I read this book as part of an arc program. This is the fifth and final book in the Shifter Country Bears series. In this final book, Austin has watched his cousins all find their mates and be happy. Austin has found one of his mates with Trevor, but he feels he can never admit to it anyone because Trevor is a wolf shifter. Trevor also works at his family's ranch and is the son of Buck, a wolf shifter who is trying to create his own wolf society. Trevor doesn't believe in what his father is doing and only stays at the ranch because of his niece and nephew who were orphaned when Trevor's brother and his mates were killed in a car accident. Trevor tries to raise the kids right and protect them from his alcoholic parents. When Sloane was approaching the Double Moon Ranch after hiking for months, she finds an unconscious man in the woods with a tranquilizer dart in his neck. Sloane yells for help and Austin comes and takes the young man back to the ranch. When they are at the hospital, the police question them all and they sees Trevor there because the man was found on his family's land. Both Trevor and Austin agree to meet secretly later that night and discuss how they want Sloane to be their mate. The next day, Austin asks Sloane to go on a hike with him and they meet Trevor at the look off. The three have lunch and are having a good time until the police show up to arrest Sloane. Austin and Trevor know word of them being together will soon reach everyone and Trevor is going to be exiled from his family. Austin vows to help his mates in any way he can. In this conclusion of this series, we learn exactly what happens with the dead wolves and what Buck is planning. I loved this series and watching the triads all find happiness. The story is about Sloane who decides to hike the Pacific Crest Trail after loosing her job and a bad break up. She arranged to stay at a ranch partially into the hike and, as she gets gets close to it, she discovers a body and screams for help. Austin, a bear shifter from the ranch, helps and the police investigate. Austin discovers that Sloane is his mate and he also has a secret mate Trevor, who is a wolf shifter. The investigation gets complicated and Austin arranges a picnic on a mountain with Sloane and Trevor will be there too. They discover that they are all mates and things get hot. The police investigation points to the wolf clan living on the next ranch and the case is solved after several events. Austin, Trevor, and Sloane love each other and, with some interruptions and adjustments, stay together.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and series. The book details the story of Sloane, Austin and Trevor. The men are already mated, but cannot be open about their relationship because interspecies mating is not tolerated and they are afraid they will be driven out. Sloane is a hiker who finds an injured person on the trail and ends up staying at the ranch Austin works at.

I absolutely loved this book. It was so well written that it had us from the very beginning.  Sloane is the perfect mate for a bear and a wolf. Trevor and Austin are the most beautiful couple and to have them be different shifters just made the story so much better. Their story was one of lpve, trust, faith and most of all love. This story starts with a bang and doesn't let up until the last epilog.
There is so much crammed into this short tale.
Secrets in wolf country and in the FBI, forbidden love, children in a perilous situation, a mini revolution, an over-eager police force, arson, and almost-murder. And in the end, with the help of friends and lovers, there is the well-earned happy end.

I'm so sad to see the end of the Shifter Country Bears Books. This book rounds out the stories and in line with all of them, it was a great afternoon read. It's full of hot threesomes who can steam up your afternoon with the flip of a switch! I'm sad we won't see more of these bear stories, but have a lot of hope for the Wolves of Shifter Country which are next on my reading list. We all know nothing ever goes as planned and sometimes it feels everything bad happens at the same time. I think we've all experienced this at least at once and it seems fictional characters aren't immune to this feeling either. Yeah okay, the author writes it this way, but it still makes you feel a connection to the character because you've been in their shoes.

Sloane lost her job and her boyfriend and has decided to do something for herself. Forget retail therapy, this girl is going hiking, hardcore hiking. She's determined to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, which stretches from Canada to Mexico. See...hardcore hiking. However, while hiking she finds an unconscious man with a syringe sticking out of him. Yeah, that's not your usual scenery and appropriate measures are taken to quickly get him medical attention. Phew, that could've been bad. Now if only they knew how he ended up there.

Thankfully, Austin is close by, albeit in his bear form, and is able to help her. Yes, at this point they're completely strangers, yet Austin is a good guy and does the right thing. It also seems that Sloane is renting a room at the same place that Austin lives. Well this could get interesting. *wink*

Of course, there is the matter of Austin already being mated, yet no one knows it. Well that's odd. Usually people eagerly announce a mating. What's the catch here? *cue suspenseful music* Austin, a bear shifter, is mated to Trevor, a wolf shifter. Trevor isn't just any wolf shifter though. If he was, that could be worked around fairly easily. But Trevor's family isn't exactly real popular. *cough cough understatement*

Trevor's Dad is Buck. Yeah, that guy. Buck is pretty much responsible for all kinds of bad happening in the area and he's got more planned. So while Austin and Trevor secretly meet up when they can, they yearn to be open about their mating and it looks they've finally found their third in Sloane. *Celebrate, good times, come on. There's your earworm for the day. LOL*

But first, Buck's plans need to be thwarted, Sloane needs to be bailed out of jail, Trevor's niece and nephew (orphaned after losing their parents) need to be taken care of and away from the rest of the family's bad influence, a mating needs to be revealed and added to, and then a HEA needs to get started. Wow, that's a lot to get accomplished. Roxie easily pulls it off though in this short story, the fifth installment in her Shifter Country Bears series.

While it's not necessary to read the series in order, I actually read book four first, then proceeded to read books one through three and five because I had d it so much, I do suggest you read them in order for the full enjoyment of the stories and characters as the main characters in each book are all connected in some way.

Roxie Noir knocks this book out of the ball park!!! I hate that this is the last in the "Shifter County Bears" series. I read the first book reluctantly because I wasn't sure about the 2 men and 1 woman thing. Roxie Noir did not let me down. I have read all the books and she is a genius at what she does. She takes her characters and writes a story to make them shine. This book takes an impossible situation and turns it around into what I predict to be a best seller.

Sloane Gracia has lost her job and her boyfriend so she feels she is at the end of her ropes. She decides to hike cross country and get in touch with herself. She has a reservation at the Double Moon Ranch and she is so close to a shower and a comfortable bed, and then she sees him. Some man laying on the ground with a syringe in his neck. She starts running and hollering for help when a man comes to her rescue, and he's NAKED!!!!

Austin Leeds is a bear shifter who works at the Double Moon Ranch which is run by a pair of wolf shifters. He is in the woods when he hears the woman hollering for help, so he shifts into his bear so that he can get to her faster. When he reaches her he shifts back to his human form so that he can talk to her. His life is already in turmoil because of the secret he is keeping and now he has met his mate. He knows that she is the one. His life would be so much easier if he didn't have to tell people that he wasn't mated.

Secrets come out and Austin has to tell his in order to protect Sloane and keep her safe. Many lives are at risk here and Austin holds the key to most of them.

This is a must read book and I say it is by far my favorite of all the books. I definitely will be adding this book to my favorites.and hope that you will too.favorites Cherri-Anne922

Sloane Garcia was hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail. She wanted to prove to herself that she could do it, after losing her job and breaking up with her boyfriend. Sloane discovers a young man in the woods with a dart/needle in his neck. After yelling for help, a naked man comes to her aid.

Austin Leed is a bear shifter that works on a wolf ranch called Double Moon Ranch. Austin has a mate that he is unable to tell his family about or claim as his own in public. After responding to Sloane's call for help, Austin feels that she could be the one and wants his mate to meet her.

Sloane had plan to spend a few days at Double Moon Ranch. Sloane doesn't know much about shifters, but she is attracted / interested in Austin. While spending a nice day with Austin and his mate and letting her guard down, Sloane has the day ruined. Since she found the young man, the police are quick to accuse and arrest Sloane. This causes Austin and his mate to decide what is important. The men must decide what secrets need to be exposed to save / protect Sloane and themselves as mates.

There are many secrets, both good and bad, that come out in this story. The characters learn important (life) lessons through out. (Whether it is to believe in herself and your dreams, to help others in need, & it ok to love who you want to love, etc). This is a wonderful end to the series, but can be read as a stand alone. Great ménage shifter read!

Book Five of the Shifter County Bears is a captivating 137 page standalone with an HEA that brings together the bears and the wolves in a way previously thought to be impossible in their world. This has been a great series and I'm looking forward to the next spinoff series featuring the wolves.
After losing her job and her boyfriend, Sloan decided to expand the partial Pacific Crest Trail hike she had planned for the future to the full Canada to Mexico length and to go now. Two and a half months later she has nearly reached a waypoint in Cascadia, the Double Moon Ranch, where she is booked for a couple of days to clean-up and rest. But before she gets there she glimpses a flash of blue back in the trees, something out of place. When she investigates, she discovers an unconscious young man with a dart in his neck. At her screams for help, a naked man appears and gives her directions to the ranch before picking the unconscious man up and trotting ahead of her to the ranch. As she thinks on the oddity of a naked man in the forest, though, she remembers where she is and realizes he must be a shifter. An ambulance is called and the police's questions are answered. But just as one puzzle is resolved, another presents itself. Sloane becomes the primary suspect in the attempted homicide, and only the resources of the shifters she's just met can help her.
