DNF @ 79%. The story to this point is fine and has potential, but this is an unrefined draft that would benefit from a line edit at the very least. I was able to ignore the grammar and syntax issues for the first half, but at around the 50% mark, the errors were happening often enough that it became a chore to read. Still giving it 2-stars because I probably would have at least finished the book if not for that.

I will say that I Lilith’s relationship with Ezekiel, and I wish we got to see it develop. I think the other relationships at this point still feel a little cheap, and any forgiveness or tolerance wasn’t really earned, but that may just be me projecting.

Tagging for spoilers because I want to address the daughter plot. This came out of absolutely nowhere. We don’t learn she has a daughter that was taken from her immediately after giving birth until 60% of the way through the book, even though that’s been her whole motivation for starting the Shadow Syndicate. Forget the fact that, up to this point, her inner monologue has been telling us that her motivation was to right the wrongs that were done to her and her sister. Did Lilith know she had a daughter before the 60% mark? This felt the author was pantsing character history, which is a dangerous game, and ultimately led to the payoff falling way flat. For someone who was thrown out with nothing and trafficked she was, she sure was ok with the whole thing it never affected her. Also pretty much forgiving the men who caused it? Instant dnf.
Author really needs to edit as well. You’d think they would know the difference between your/you’re and there/their/they’re. It was embarrassing to read. Stephanie4

Loved it!

The entire series is great, this one is slower going to get into the plot but it’s packed full of suspense and drama. Lilith had a long journey to heal over four years but once her men came along she was able to breath easier.
I loved all the guys but Mishka and Declan were my favorites, with Ezzy right behind them. Katy274 5
