If you love reality TV as much as I do, then this book will be right up your alley. It features an LA family whose drama unfolds on TV and Social Media (think Housewives of Beverly Hills), with the intriguing twist that the matriarch is a famous actress from Kerry.

The blend of settings—New York, LA, Palm Springs, and Kerry—adds a vibrant backdrop to the story, enriching the story with a mix of glamour and authenticity. The author's portrayal of these locations is vivid and captivating and most of all FUN, making me feel as if I was right there with the characters living a glamorous/chaotic life.

I loved Portia, our main character, who choses to live out of the public eye, un the rest of her family. She is grappling with the decision of whether to become a mother, and I enjoyed her reflections and personal growth throughout the book.

Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a juicy, drama-filled read with a touch of Hollywood glamour and a splash of Irish charm.

Thank you to the publisher for sending me a proof in exchange for a review.

Unfortunately, this book just didn't quite hit right with me. I don't think I'm the target audience for it. I am completely not interested in reality tv, so everything to do with it annoys me. The MC is also way above my age and in a whole different era of life than me (divorce, kids, etc), so I can't relate to her problems as much. (The book also felt it was trying to be too relatable to everyone- References to Taylor Swift "All Too Well" 10 minute version just felt out of place rather than a good addition).

Otherwise, the story can be quite fun, such as Portia's dating experiences from the app and trying to find her feet. The plot twists were a little obvious but keep you curious enough to carry on reading. The family dynamic is sweet and all the references to Ireland were fun and accurate.

As I said, I rated this a 3 because it's personally not for me. HOWEVER, I think this book is perfect for anyone into celebrities and reality tv, and who want a glimpse into their lives behind the cameras. It's just as dramatic as a soap. 1 Sue84

Reality Check by Vicki Notaro
ARC Available 2nd May!

Over the weekend I spotted on Insta when  Vicki asked if anyone wanted a proof, half in jest, and I popped my hand up quickly enough to snare one and by Tuesday I had a proof in my hands!

I sat down on my teabreak to see what Vicki had in-store for me and I pretty much read it every spare minute I had until I had it finished by bedtime!
