This is the fourth book of four ARC’s that I received from the author, and I have really enjoyed them all. As the title suggests this one involves foxes found at the site of a dead body. Jake and Natalie’s romance really advances in intimacy in this book, as they work together to solve what looks a hunting accident but turns out to be a murder. Daniel, the man killed, was a local hunter but particularly d, with his penchant for trouble and debt. So there are a number of possible killers, and Jake and Natalie have to follow obscure clues which even take them to Santa Fe! This was a great mystery, and I feel I knew whodunit early on as the evidence came in, but it didn't lessen my enjoyment and enthusiasm for the story. The foxes added to the humanity in the story, which I d very much. What I really didn't agree with or was the judgement handed down. In my eyes, this wasn't justice for a man's life taken. The judgement was beyond inconsequential, and in no way fit the crime at all. Very disappointed because it ruined the journey for me. Firearms and Foxes is book 4 in Dusty Animal Cozy Mystery by Verena DeLuca. I enjoy how animals are always incorporated into the story. Natalie and Sheriff Jack are great main characters and the supporting characters are good too. I think the author writes good mysteries and an interesting story. Each book in this series builds on relationships and at the same time, each mystery is different. Firearms and Foxes is an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon reading.
