This new aspiring authors parents are my neighbours and when they told me he had written a historical fiction book. I decided to purchase the book, I have to say I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the read . I was captured in the first chapter a gripping storyline and some wonderful characters. Some great sections of action. Without spoiling the book for other readers the vileness of one of the characters is excellent and the act of betrayal brilliant. A swift read and an enjoyable debut, Stacy has laid the pathway for an interesting series set in the Saxon Mercia. I'm a fan of books set in this period and this one builds the world well, the sights and smells of the times evoked, intertwined with a core of well rounded characters to both root for and despise. I look forward to seeing how Stacy takes the story forwards, and what destiny he has in mind for his heroes.1 Will B5

Great book gripped from the first chapters, excellent characters and great plot. I was kept guessing regards the Betrayal (will say no more on that as do not want to spoil it) some good battle scenes, Poor Oswi was kept busy trying to keep the village safe and protect his King. really good read enjoyable and hard to put down.
