The story of Major Marcus Battle's life and thoughts as written in his journal. It brings new light and life to our hero of The Traveler series. Volume 1 begins after his wife and son died of the Scourge pandemic. Marcus' immunity left him a broken and lonely man. A lesser man may have taken his own life to join them. What he dreams; what he fears; and what he absolutely will not accept; all are written or reflected in his journal! The journal gives insight to the actions of the man who became a legend in the post apocalyptic Texas landscape.

Marcus is a huge personality, entirely capable of carrying the story alone, but the other character is the journal. Carrying the thoughts and the truth as he sees it, the journal is the main character in this storyline. It's not lists of his labors, or chores, or inventories. The journal contains the mind of the man. As well-written as I expected, this is a great read! Sofia696 15

I love to read diaries, and this book was reading in that format in the first person, it gives us a proximity with the main character and I did enjoy that very much, but the different part was that it was given to us as some sort of historical find in a foreign future and while Marcus Battle lives in our future that was in the past of who found this diary, and that feels kind of genial, for what I understood while reading this book, maybe I should have started with the traveller series, but I could understand what was going on even without that previous knowledge, this was my first time reading Tom Abrahams and I am not disappointed, I will definitely search for more of this author books and I really recommend this book for fans of the end of the world stories Josh380 18 Shelved as 'abandoned'

DNF'd so I won't rate it.

There are issues with unbelievable characters. There's a some jumping around in ways that didn't appeal to me.

But the main reason why I DNF'd this book, is due to the voice. The books voice is from a hyper-patriotic point of view. I am not familiar with this author, but the book is written in a way that makes it clear, he is ly one of those cable-news & twitter addicts. This story feels a glossy, unrealistic perspective on society and life, filtered through a gun-proud, patriot. And once that patriot went to DC, and was asked to proclaim, out loud, the Constitution... and of course everyone spontaneously clapped - I said oh hell nah. This isn't for me. It's so so so so corny. Amber K948 34

Having read and loved Tom Abraham's Crusader series, I was excited for this story and was not disappointed. This post-apocalyptic tale, as told from the journals of Marcus Battle, was very fascinating. Both his losses and survival through the Scourge definitely show his strength. And despite his reluctance, this hero can't help but to help others.
Amazing audio narration and I highly recommend this author!!audiobook Joan L Huffman MD254 1 follower

I, Marcus: The Traveler’s Journal, Volume I

The introductory journal is a fascinating concept, a prequel to the life and times of Marcus Battle, what made the man tick. I look forward to the two upcoming volumes. Shanna Tidwell656 6

Excellent story. Love Abrahams work and LOVE Kevin Pierce as narrator! What a great combo! I’m sure Kevin got a kick about having his own name be part of the story!
I love this series, including the other story lines.
This one is one of the best of the genre. Pay attention and take notes! Victoria Owens143 2
