Charming Story

Gerard and Charlotte are well developed characters who I admired all through this charming story. I’ll be looking for other books by this talented author.1 Doreen Henderson275

A Giant Giant

I really enjoyed this story. It is well-written. Duke Gerard had not expected to inherit a Dukedom as his parents were unmarried and his mother had been a maid to the Duke. He was brought up in Scotland but visited the London house to see what he had inherited. At a ball, he met Lady Charlotte. She realized he was not aware of society rules and managed to stop him being compromised by a woman in the garden. He invited Charlotte to teach him the ways of the ton so that he would fit in and be accepted. Charlotte did this but Gerard was not keen to accept some of the rules. Gradually feelings developed between them but Gerard had sworn never to marry. Would Charlotte be able to change his mind? I really the way that Gerard changed his behaviour to fit in with society rules but still managed to keep his own identity. He was a gentle giant beneath his rough exterior. Would he realise that he needed Charlotte in his life in Scotland? Christiane Robillard316 1 follower

Thoroughly juvenile

The writing is mediocre and sloppy … a great many typos, grammatical and syntax errors. The writer has obviously not researched the customs and mores of the regency period. Gerard somebody-or-other (the Duke of Rodstone) could not be heir to a dukedom if he is illegitimate.

This writer does not have the ability to make her characters appealing to the reader. The dialogue is so slipshod, it makes them seem contrived and disconnected.

I read as much as I could but simply couldn’t go further than 1/4 of the book. Life is too short to waste my time reading such drivel. Please, dear writer, I suggest you research the regency time period before you write another regency story. Or you might want to read Jane Austen or Georgette Heyer. And brush up on your grammar. The mistakes are elementary. I do not recommend this book. Lifelongreader274

Amusing and appealing

Gerard was reluctant to face the Ton as the illegitimate son and heir of a duke. He didn't know how to dress or mingle with a noble society. Charlotte was a lady who valued propriety above all else. She was scandalized by Gerard's frequently embarrassing missteps. Sometimes amusing, sometimes frustrating, she became his etiquette coach to help him stand out less among a Ton with rigid rules and customs. Gerard and Charlotte were muti-faceted characters who were able, both despite and because of their imperfections. Carol1,869 3

lovely story

This story revolves around Charlotte, the very proper young lady who never steps out of line. That is until she meets the Duke, Gerard who is an illegitimate heir to the dukedom. He was born in Scotland and raised in poverty and after she rescues him from near disaster he enlists Charlotte’s aid to help him blend in more with the ton. What situation did she rescue him from and what difficulties do they encounter as they work together on improving his proper etiquette among the ton. They eventually get their hea despite themselves. Love is worth it!

Love is found sometimes when you aren’t searching for it. This story takes you on a journey of discovery for two people that will encapture you and pull you in. I love the characters and their “unacceptable” behaviors and manners that teach a lesson to be yourself and accept others that way too. I know you will enjoy this! NelleRenn381

The Scottish hero never expected to inherit a dukedom and he doesn’t know how to go on. He meets the heroine, miss prim and proper, at a ball and enlists her help in navigating the ton. She accepts only because her family needs money. How these two opposites get together for a HEA makes for an entertaining read. Nat Weber1 review

great book

I loved this book. Very rich characterizations. My only recommendation is that you have someone proofread it for you. There were several errors where he or she were used incorrectly. It was a little confusing. Heather892

Charlotte has an entire forest worth of propriety up her butt, And she can't seem to unbend enough to see what she's actually got that's good in her life. His reason for never marrying was pretty stupid though. They make a sweet pair. Della Veilleux 268 1 follower

changing one’s mind

Gerard and Charlotte such a sweet couple, so I think. What a great read, I am sorry to see it end. What will become of this two friends. Sweet story and worth the read. Margaret Swanson443 1 follower

Such a sweet romance

This is a touching story of what it takes to soften a heart. Learning to be true to yourself and not what other people think you should be. It touches the heart. Art1,139 8

Loved Charlotte and Gerard's story from beginning to the Extended Epilogue. I'm hoping there will possibly be Frederica and Allen's love story next in this series. Pat Babcock819 2

Appalling mistakes in pronouns, syntax etc.
It was confusing and distracting from reading the story. If I didn't the storyline I would have rated it one star. Sally Lovers254 1 follower

Changing his mind

Gerald was a diamond in the rough, but trying to change put him in Charlotte’s orbit. He changed outwardly but remained true to himself and found love. Lisa Cool3
