OUT OF BOUNDS is the second instalment in Tam DeRudder Jackson’s contemporary, new adult GAME TIME erotic, football romance series. This is college junior / middle linebacker Wyatt ‘Bax’ Baxter, and Piper Maxwell’s story line. OUT OF BOUNDS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Told from dual first person perspectives (Wyatt and Piper) OUT OF BOUNDS follows the building relationship between our story line couple. The world building focuses on betrayal, forgiveness and dysfunctional family dynamics. Piper’s parents are a large part of our heroine’s battle with trust, having lost their support when everything fell apart. Wyatt Baxter’s focus in on playing football and the woman with whom he is falling in love but Piper is refusing to play by the rules.


The relationship between Piper and Wyatt is one of immediate attraction but Piper refuses to accept Wyatt Baxter is anything more than a friend with benefits. Everyone except Piper, sees something more, and in this Wyatt struggles to convince our heroine she is more than the betrayal from the past. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.


There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters, most of whom we met in the previous instalment including Wyatt’s teammates, friends and roommates. We are introduced to both Wyatt and Piper’s extended families, as well as Piper’s ex Charlie, and her sister Pippa. As to the extended family, Piper’s parents are oblivious to our heroine’s struggles, only thinking about family reputation, and the people at home.


OUT OF BOUNDS is a story of betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, family and friendships, relationships and love. The fast paced premise is captivating, dramatic and intense; the romance is seductive; the character are energetic, determined and dynamic.

Tam DeRudder Jackson gave me another fantastic read with Out of Bounds!!!!

In this book, it’s Wyatt and Piper’s turn at happily ever after, and oh my goodness, was I glad I was along for the ride. Piper has had a rough few months, and that is putting it mildly. She has been trying to put her ex behind her, but he doesn’t seem to get the message. When he won’t leave her alone at a bar, Wyatt steps in, and finally gets him to leave. After an intriguing conversation, the evening ends in an unforgettable night, but Piper has made it clear it was just one night. However, she never saw Wyatt coming, and he will change her life in ways she never imagined.

Wyatt may very well be my favorite book boyfriend. I think Piper said it perfectly:

“Wyatt Baxter ran deep. One look at the art on the walls of his room told a story of a person who found beauty even in the most devastating and terrifying moments, who cared about details, and quality, who thought deep thoughts when he was alone.”

He was also patient, kind, and loyal to those he cared about, and Piper was lucky to have found him. He was her biggest support, and she could be herself with him, and show him every part of who she was, and he saw her for who she was deep in her soul.

At the beginning of the book, I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about Piper. As I got to know her more, especially in the chapters in which she was telling the story, I was able to see she was a girl who had been hurt incredibly badly. She was hurt so deeply, that I was surprised she was able to open her heart again to anyone. She was tough, but Jackson showed me a vulnerable side to her. I admired her ability to forgive others who had broken her heart. She became someone I would want in my corner.


Jackson again stands out in this genre, making it her own. Her characters are always complex and multi-layered, and they always go against stereotypes. The guys who live with Wyatt aren’t some dumb jocks. They are highly intelligent, and Wyatt himself is a gifted artist! She is also a talented writer, and I found myself in both books looking up words I didn’t know the meaning of. So, I have added some new words to my vocabulary!



I have been looking forward to Offsides, which is Finn and Chessley’s story. There have been hints about these two from the very beginning of this series, and this one promises to be something else! Summer of 2024 can’t get here fast enough!!!

Piper is sitting in the bar trying to drink away her problems but why do these college boys keep trying to chat her up, so it becomes a game to get rid of them until Charlie her ex decides she is destine to be his again. After some uncomfortable back and forth conversations she hears low timbre voice behind her which saves her from her ex.

Wyatt "Bax" Baxter has been watching the firecracker all night batting away the boys until he sees that this one is different and comes to her rescue. Upon chatting and find out her name she proceeds to escort her to her car, but things get heated up pretty quick and when she leaves without giving him her number, he becomes obsessed with finding her.

Piper had her one night with the star football player but as she interacts more with him the feelings are coming to the surface although she swore off men, Wyatt is starting to inject faith in her that not men are bad.

Can Wyatt convince Piper he is nothing her ex and hopefully have his forever woman?

This is not the first book I have read by this author and is not going to be last, you know when you pick up a Tam DeRudder Jackson book that the writing and character are well written and developed and this is brilliant.

Piper's character is trying to shield her heart but as you read through her story you she that even with money you can be just as miserable and lost in life. Although when she meets Wyatt from the first interaction you are willing her to trust her instincts and go out with the character. Wyatt although is an alpha male character you get to see his vulnerable side and kind, charming character with each interaction the two of them have in the story.

I love the secondary characters and am hoping with get Chessly and Finns story as there is something bubbling and would make a great book to read. Can wait to read more.

This is the second book in the Game Time Series. This author is incredible and I have loved every book I have read. And this one is added to that lists.
This is Wyatt and Pipers story. I love both these character and the fact that this story is written from both perspectives really helped to bringnthe characters to life.
This is a story about finding love when you least expect it and overcoming past betrayals and hurts to all love to be a possibility again. As well as that story there is also steamy scenes as our couple can't fight their attraction to each other. These scenes are written in a way that makes them feel really intimate and draws the reader in.

Piper has sworn off romance ever since she was betrayed. However she is a woman with needs so when a hot guy gave her the chance to meet said needs she grabbed it. After all a one night stand never hurt anyone right?
However for Wyatt the connection and attraction between them is so much more than a one night thing. He wants her and he will stop at nothing to get her.
With everyone seeing and knowing there is more between the couple than Piper wants to see Wyatt knows he has his work cut out to convince Piper to give him and them a chance.
Can he prove to her that not all men are the same? Will Piper be able to move on from her past to embrace a future with Wyatt? You need to read this book to find out.

Piper is freakin’ awesome!! I love her. Wyatt is adorable. I hope we get to see more of them in this series. I wanted to slap Pippa. She deserves so much more than she got from Piper.

Piper has recently been betrayed in a HUGE way. No one should be hurt this way. It is one thing to find out your boyfriend is cheating but to find out it has been going on for months behind your back and with the one person that should never betray you was just way too much for Piper. She decides she is done with relationships. Piper decides to be a casual hookup kinda girl from now on. That is what she thinks her casual encounter with Wyatt is going to be.

Wyatt “Bax” Baxter saw her the moment she walked in the door of the bar. She was different. There was just an air about her. She turned every guy away, some more than once, except for this one that won’t leave her alone. When Wyatt lends a hand to help chase the guy away, he didn’t imagine it would lead to more. It does. Now he can’t stop thinking about her.

Wyatt and Piper run into each other on campus. She still refuses to give him her phone number. Even after he dedicates a touch down to her. Piper is too afraid of getting hurt again. When Piper finally decides to give Wyatt a chance, Pippa, Piper’s sister, nearly blows it up in a big way! Forgiveness goes a long way for those seeking it.

This author always manages to suck me in and make me feel. I hate that but love the books. Can’t get enough of this series!! Another stellar read!!!

I have been loving the sports romance books lately and this one did not disappoint. These are college age kids, but they don’t seem young. Piper had a tough day after failing a test and just wants to have a drink in peace. When her ex shows up to try and take the seat next to her the hot guy she has been eyeing in the bar mirror steps in to take the seat saved by her purse. Wyatt is a football player on the college team and can see that she wants the guy gone. They chat and when she is ready to leave he walks her to her car, or the backseat of his truck. The heat is on from the beginning and Piper and Wyatt are only supposed to have one night. Piper refuses to give him her number but he can’t stop thinking about her and how amazing she is. Wyatt really wants to get to know her better. Piper takes a picture of his phone number but is refusing to use it because she has been hurt in the past and is not ready to trust a man. They run into each other a few times and he spies her at his football games. The story line was fun and Piper is sassy so it was a great read! Out of Bounds is a sporty romance and the second sexy book in the NA Game Time sports series. I appreciate a good romance story with some sports involved and this book delivered!
Tam writes the story in multiple POV's making the story that much more interesting because you feel get to live through the characters and their inner most thoughts and feelings. Tam really went above and beyond with the detail that was used, especially with the banter and thoughts.
There are all kinds of emotions, humor, drama, love and so much more that made this story a hot, intense tale. Bax is a person who knows what he wants, and he wants Piper, and Piper is just interested in a one-night stand. Bax goes with it, because he doesn't want to scare Piper away, but if only Piper knew what was in store for her! Piper is done with romance and even though she feels something about Bax, she can't let it become anything more than a one-night stand.
Who wins this battle? Does Bax make it to the endzone and score a touchdown or does Piper intercept the ball and take the play into her own hands? There's only one way to find out and that is to pick up a copy and read for yourself! Beverly Finnie440 5

I love this author and this series! And Out of Bounds doesn’t disappoint. The author has a wonderful way of suckimg the reader in and having you feel for one of the characters m. In my case, this time around is Bax.
Bax is unique. Wears shirts with off the wall sayings on them. Has a playful seriousness to him. Yet he’s a big Teddy bear. One who may have just met his match. Piper was definitely unexpected but she’s who he wants. Unfortunately besides a hook up she keeps rejecting him.
Piper’s been put through the ringer. To the point she’s swore off all relationships. However Bax rocks her world in a way she can’t stop thinking about him. However her past has her sticking to her stubborn streak of no relationships. Though she decides that random hook ups could be the solution.
Will those random hookups lead to disaster?
What happened to Piper that she’s unwilling to give Bax the benefit of the doubt?

After a bad day at school, Piper just wants to enjoy some alone time at a bar to drown her sorrows. What she doesn't want is her ex boyfriend taking up any of her time. Enter the hottie she has seen across the room all night to step up and get her ex to back off. What starts as a hook-up between Piper and Wyatt (Bax to his teammates...and pretty much everyone else) quickly takes on a life of its own thanks to their friends that can't let things be. Even though Piper isn't ready to open up herself to a relationship after her last one...Wyatt is a patient man. However, as things seem to be progressing nicely, Piper's insecurities and familial pressures rear their ugly heads and threaten it all.

I enjoyed this story. All the characters from the first book make an appearance (including ones I didn't want to see again...you know who I'm taking about). Piper is smart, witty, and fiesty...and Wyatt is the man to make sure she doesn't stand in her own way! You don't have to read the first book to read this one. I really enjoyed reading this book. I was able to finish it rather quickly. I loved everything about Wyatt and Piper. How they met, what they went thru trying to navigate their hookup / friendship / relationship. Piper had recently broken up with her boyfriend who cheated on her. This is an amazing story that feels it just flows off the pages and keeps you turning them until the book is done. It is a great read that was very quick for me. I am normally not one that gravitates towards sports romances but this book was really well done. I feel you didn't just get sports or romance, you got a really good blend of both. This book is written in dual POV which allows the characters to have a great banter between them and really allows the reader to be able to get caught up in them. I love when you feel you want to be friends with the characters and I definitely do with this book. There is angst, steam, love, banter, just super cute things in this book that make you swoon. The author has a way with words that just makes you feel completely immersed into the story line. I highly enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to reading more from this author. Oh my gosh where do I start? Wyatt is a football player wanting to go to nationals. Him and his football buddies are at a bar, when Wyatt runs into Piper. Piper does not want any commitments. Wyatt and Piper hook up and Wyatt is not pushy at all with Piper and her boundaries. Piper has had to raise her sister as their parents were pretty much absent, and very toxic. Why Piper just kept the relationship with her parents I don’t get because that relationship hurt my heart for her! And when Pippa decides to try and crush her sister’s heart AGAIN!! Oh I was raging!! Wyatt and Piper have gone through the wringer and they always come back stronger than ever. Wyatt was always so so patient with Piper. She would second guess herself. She would go radio silent, do everything to wreck the relationship and Wyatt just wasn’t having any of it.
This was such an amazing book. Had me in tears laughing or in tears because of the toxic relationships Piper has had to go through.

Piper and Bax didn't have the easiest path but I loved their journey. She is recovering from a broken heart and he swoops in to save the day.

Following Piper as she started figuring things out with her sister Pippa (who I really didn't ), parents and love was quite frustrating and entertaining at the same time.

I wish my daughter had found a guy Bax while she was in college. He is q good southern young man who listened to his Mama. His manners and respect for women was wonderful to read.

Have I mentioned I really don't Piper's sister? She caused a lot of damage to Piper and her relationship with her parents on top of everything else she did.

I love the dynamic of the guys, they act what I feel teammates would, just brothers.

I cannot wait for the next book and find out what's going to happen. I'm fully invested in this series.

Out of Bounds is the second book in the Game Time Series and is a Contemporary Romance/ Opposites Attract Romance that once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. I’ve read several books by this author and this one may be my favorite yet. Her characters are fully developed, relatable and bring the story to life. This is Piper and Wyatt's story. Piper has a guarded heart and has sworn off dating especially football players. One night at the bar might change everything. Her ex won’t leave her be , Wyatt steals the seat next to her and the chemistry between them is electric. He wants one thing and that’s Piper. Can he convince her he’s different from the other’s?Can one night be enough? Can these two have the relationship they both deserve? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m already looking forward to reading more from this Author.

This was a good 4 star read. Piper has a run in with an ex that brings Wyatt to her rescue. He was so sweet and they had instant sparks. Neither of them can stop thinking about their one night but Piper has pretty big walls up after being hurt badly. Wyatt isn’t quite ready to give her up yet. Will he be able to convince Piper to give them a chance?

Overall I really enjoyed this book. I the dual POV, I to see what each of them are thinking. My emotions were all over the place. We get romance, steaminess, drama and so much more. I wasn’t really into the sports romance genre until I came across Tam DeRudder Jackson came along and provided a whole new perspective. Piper and Wyatt are two of my favorite characters, and as expected, the author did a brilliant job captivating every single facet of their personalities. Piper has had such a difficult time lately, and her ex isn’t making it any easier. Wyatt steps in to help because he has a different kind of attraction to her…but Piper has pulled the plug on any relationship possibilities. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. An author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. I enjoy her writing style as well as how her characters pop right off the pages and into your heart. This is a well written story about Piper and Bax. They are my favorite of the story for sure. They have great chemistry and growth throughout the story. I enjoyed their attraction and how connectable they are. They bring the story to life on each page. Out of Bounds is the second book in the Game Time Series by Tam DeRudder Jackson. It is a great addition to this series of steamy NA sports romances. This is Wyatt and Piper’s story about finding love unexpectedly. This opposites attract romance had plenty to keep me engrossed, from emotion and angst, to sizzling chemistry and spicy encounters- there's lots of fun and witty banter to keep things entertaining too.
Piper has sworn off romance, especially with football players - while Wyatt is talented in more ways than one. He’s used to winning, but can he win this girl’s heart? What happens makes for a captivating read.

This book is a fun, contemporary sports romance that has truly enjoyable characters right at the heart of the story. I loved Piper and Bax and watching their story unfold. They had such a fun feel about them but also had a connection that is strong and deep. There was more emotion behind them that I expected which I think made me engage with them even more.
This is an author that I always enjoy and this book is an example of why. Her characters are always engaging and stories well written. I find it so easy to get into one of her books and this one is no exception. As the second book in the series, this promises to be a really great one to read.

These two! O MG could they be any cuter! They each have a background story but Piper’s is a little heavier. Not sure I could forgive and forget for any of her family. I feel she reacted exactly how she needed to and her feelings are validated. Bax is the fun side of the story. He made me smile. I did love how his friends called her his “unicorn”. The razzing that Bax gets from his friends made me laugh. It is nice seeing all the boys from the team interact through the series. I truly love this wonderful author! She always brings her readers fantastic characters and captivating storylines with her amazing writing abilities. This Book was simply more of the same and had me hooked from start to finish. Piper and Wyatt (Bax) are wonderful characters who will draw you in right from the start. There is plenty of emotion and drama with a good mix of humour and passion thrown in that I just know you are going to love this book. I love to read sports romances- normally hockey so I thought a football romance would be just as good and I was right! Whenever I pick up a book that has a strong FMC that is confident in herself and knows what she wants, it is refreshing because FMC can often be portrayed as someone who needs to be rescued. That is not at all the case in this book. The dynamic between Piper and Wyatt is funny as well as lighthearted and their exchanges was something I found myself giggling about throughout the book. Overall it was a great book that is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Piper and Wyatt had a chance encounter and the connection was instant! Piper is traumatized from her past and doesn't know if she can get past it. Wyatt wants more from the beginning, but he has to convince Piper too. Their electricity is fire from the beginning. If they can get over their past traumas and help each other they can make the hottest relationship work. The story is well-written allowing you to feel every emotion with Piper and Wyatt. This is the second book I have dread of the Game Time Series and I just loved it. Wyatt (Bax) and Piper have unbelievable chemistry. Neither of them were looking for a romance but what they found could be more than they thought they would ever find. Piper is so strong and independent and Wyatt is more than anyone realizes.
