Stephanie Gluck has done it again, this book hits differently from the others I feel as though I have been on the journey through the writing with the Author as the books just keep getting better and better.

This series is a must-read for anyone interested in the Occult, or even supernatural elements, going through each sin and creating trials fitting each is no easy feat yet Stephanie Gluck is making it look easy while still improving on her writing each time. As the books suggest this story includes "Dream" which I feel may get confusing for some however, the Author's writing style and wording help show clear differences between the "Real World" and "Dreams"

I was blown away by the series from the last 4 books and this has just come along and cemented my thoughts and feelings not just on the series but the author as well.

Stephanie Gluck is one to watch and the Devil's Trials will contain something for everyone! 1 caitys.booknook377 39

2024:
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review.
This book gave me all the feelings in the world.
Written very differently to books 1-4 and the first book where Octavia had to stand on her own two feet to battle toward her future whilst dealing with the consequences of her past.
This book dealt with themes of PTSD, loss, and grief.
Almost 24 hours after finishing and I'm still not okay with losing Nash. We could see it coming. His death was foreshadowed in books 3 and 4 at the very least. But the pain of Octavia, losing her best friend and never having had the chance to say goodbye...those feels hit home. Hard.
There were lots of elements I enjoyed, including the introduction of our new main man, Max. The way Sloth was written; she felt kinder than the other Sins. her brand of 'evil' was necessary for survival instead of being a twisted game. Albeit still slightly unhinged, her acceptance of letting Octavia move forward toward the land of the living felt natural and unproblematic.
Once finishing, despite not feeling there were any loose ends, this book left me feeling empty and unfulfilled. I don't think there was anything inherently wrong with the story. But just something, the cherry on top of the cake, wasn't there.
I do, however, feel we've hit the reset button. From here, I feel it will be balls out, and all the things will be happening. From here, I really feel this story is about to just sky rocket and take us all along for the ride. This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.Show full review Mars23 2

I'm still absolutely loving this series. We get so much character development in every book, and we're starting to get some good romance development as well.

I honestly didn't Octavia a whole lot at the beginning of this series. She was selfish, rash, and naive. But now she's grown into a character that I actually really enjoy. She's grown on me a lot, and I'm really excited to see where she ends up in this series.

This book was great. The only negative feedback I have is that it just wasn't my cup of tea story wise this time. I dis the whole "dreaming and not knowing what's real" thing. It fits with the story and Sloth really well, and it was well written. It's just a story trope that I personally don't to read. It made it a little hard for me to get through the book, but I'm happy that I did.

I can't wait for the next one!

To dream or not to dream??? Octavia is at it again in this intense thrilling adventure to beat the devil’s trials. I honestly didn’t know how sloth was going to be but wow just wow!!! Stephanie Gluck has such a way with character building and story telling that’ll leave you breathless and waiting for more!!! Will Octavia beat these trials and make it to meet Sam??? I’m literally biting my nails in anticipation to see what else unravels on her journeys.

If you haven’t read these yet please do!!! I literally feel I am a part of these trials and the emotional connection I have made with these characters are absolutely wonderful!!!

This has to be one of my favourite series of all time, I don’t understand how Stephanie does it! I fell Octavia is one of my best friends (I may just have doomed myself to death) she is so well written. I loved this trial, it was fun a fun change, now she had to battle her fears in her dreams, and that Samael was in the dreams made it better! I can’t wait to see what happens next!
