The Southend CID team, DI Joe Hogarth, DS Sue Palmer and DC Ecrin Kaplan are called to the scene of a horrific murder of an Albanian man in the bath in his hotel room. At the same time, the man that Hogarth rescued his housemate from nearly kills another man in a frenzied knife attack in plain view in the High street. Hogarth finally puts events together and realised he's been duped. The tension in this book doesn't let up until the end - Hogarth has to extricate himself and save lives whilst hopefully,waving his career and reputation. Sue Palmer, ever the clear head proves yet again what a good friend she is. And DCI Melford gets to look the conquering hero. Phew! I need to lie down and recover! Another cracker from Mr Carter!

I have no idea how the author comes up with these plots, but I am so glad he does.
Twists and turns, a little romance, some conniving rogues and a top detective and you have the workings of a good novel. A seasoned author , Solomon keeps you guessing and draws you deep into the story. I couldn't put it down . Fantastic
