*spoilers* Xavier grew up in Wolf Valley, but left as soon as he could for the military. When he got injured he moved back with his best friend Townes. XavierÂ’s mum died when he was young and because she went out to get medicine for her sick child, his father blamed him for her death, really damaging the boy. He also feels responsible for his inury in the military, so besides his friend he keeps everyone at distance, always being grumpy and brooding. Olive moved to town with her sister and opened up her bakery, next to the businesses of her sisters. They really stick together. As soon as she saw Xavier she was drawn to him, looking behind his mask. She also lost her parents and only her sisters helped her out of her funk. So she really sees him and does a lot to get his attention, which ends in cute pranks. Xavier still thinks he is not good enough, but realizes that he would be devastated if Olive stopped her behevior and takes the risk, but then his father intervenes and Xavier pushes Olive away. Is he ready to fight?
I am a fan of Shaw Hart, love her characters and writing style. Xavier and Olive both have experienced loss in their lives. She sees behind his grumpy behavior and also she is scared, she fights for what she wants, showing him his value and he takes care of her. Loved her gift for him and the family part. Can not wait for the next stories.

Xavier is grumpy and keeps to himself and Olive is pure sunshine. Not only are they neighbors she makes it her mission to send him things, and get his attention, of course he would never admit he loves it but one night over a dinner that all changes. When XavierÂ’s past comes back and tryÂ’s to take over he has to decide what he really wants and how heÂ’s willing to fight for it. This was an emotional read and will pull at all your heart strings.
