This was a spin-off story from another series, but it worked well as a standalone. I loved the setting of a Christmas house party, a cunning hostess, and a pair of lovers who didn't imagine love would ever find them. The treasure hunt game was a fun ploy. Mellie and Fitz tend to be the sorts who wallow a bit particularly in their self-esteem, but they were also sweet and passionate and I didn't mind spending time with them.
