4.5 Stars! S.E. Smith writes contemporary sci fi/paranormal romance with all the feels in an old school way. Edge of Insanity (book 6 of The Alliance series) is loaded with romance (high heat level), action and humor. Edge is alpha but sweet and Lina is smart, bossy (but not obnoxious) and she’s no TSTL female. I loved the new villain. And I love seeing the old faces and trying to figure out who’s next to find an Amate. I always say that this is my favorite series by her until she writes a book in another series. Care Fenici, continuano le avventure dei nostri amici alieni Trivator, una specie davvero interessante che fa ben sperare in un futuro migliore.

La nostra scrittrice, con questo sesto volume dal titolo Sull’orlo della follia della serie l’Alleanza, si è davvero superata, spiazzandomi completamente. Si denota nella scrittura, infatti, una grande evoluzione che rende il racconto sempre più coinvolgente e fluido.

Avventura e adrenalina insieme a un mix di sensualità e ironia, caratterizzano questo romanzo rispetto agli altri, dove i protagonisti erano più impostati. L’accoppiata che troviamo qui mi ha colpita moltissimo.

Tra i due protagonisti si instaura uno strano rapporto che risulta sempre ironico anche nei momenti più drammatici.

Le ambientazioni sono ancora più coinvolgenti soprattutto per il cambio di scenario che porta il lettore in altri mondi alieni con varie civiltà e specie originali.

Il guerriero Trivator Edge è dato per disperso ormai da tempo e, quando ormai le speranze di ritrovarlo si stanno affievolendo, viene intercettata una conversazione galattica da parte della nerd Jordan. Sorprendentemente durante la missione di recupero del guerriero, da parte dei Trivator, ritroviamo il gruppetto di donne umane rapite dalla terra da una nave aliena e di cui non si era saputo più nulla. Finalmente questa parte nebulosa della storia, iniziata con i libri precedenti, ha una sua risoluzione e devo dire che ero davvero curiosa di sapere che fine avessero fatto le povere sventurate.

Lina Daniels è l’umana protagonista dal carattere focoso e battagliero che darà del filo da torcere al povero Edge. In questo caso i ruoli si invertono, Lina è molto coraggiosa, ha imparato a difendersi e a mimetizzarsi molto bene nello spazioporto dove si è rifugiata insieme alle sue compagne.

Per anni aveva covato l’odio nei confronti degli alieni che erano venuti sulla Terra. Poi, aveva trasferito quell’odio su Colbert e sugli alieni che l’avevano portata via da casa. Le tremarono le dita sull’impugnatura dell’arma che aveva in mano. Voleva di più. Voleva un futuro… e voleva averlo con Edge.

Sarà lei a liberare Edge da una dolorosa prigionia da parte di un guerriero Waxiano che lo teneva in vita drogandolo giorno e notte solo per costringerlo a parlare e rivelargli segreti militari. Lina e le sue compagne sono tutte molto agguerrite e dimostrano un affiatamento incredibile. Sono loro la vera sorpresa perché tutti ci aspettavamo delle povere ragazze in preda alla paura e invece troviamo delle vere guerriere che riescono a creare il panico in un mondo a loro ostile e senza nessuno a difenderle.

L’alieno è quasi morto quando viene salvato, grazie alle cure amorevoli della sua Dea.

La sua liberazione non è proprio altruistica perché le ragazze hanno bisogno di lui per manovrare una nave aliena che le porterà sulla via della salvezza.

Poco male perché loro erano all’oscuro dei passi da gigante che i Trivator avevano fatto sulla Terra per conquistarsi la fiducia degli umani.

L’attrazione esplosiva è più forte della diffidenza di Lina nei confronti degli alieni Trivator e del doloroso passato da elaborare riguardante il suo primo amore.

Per fortuna Edge è un alieno grande e grosso ma anche molto dolce e innamorato e tutte le paure e le diffidenze della donna saranno spazzate via.

I complotti di qualche membro del Consiglio, che non ha a cuore l’Alleanza, dimostrano che questi problemi non li abbiamo solo noi umani e quindi fa sperare ben poco in un futuro alieno, ma per fortuna stiamo solo fantasticando.

As any long awaited new book in a series, I always wonder if it will reach it goals and quenches my thirst.
I’m so glad it did it.
In this book we meet long lost missing people, Edge, the trivator warrior who was with Dagger when they were wounded and a group of human women who were kidnapped by some bad alien guys.
It was an amazing read of two worlds colliding and trying to trust each other by discovering who they really are.
Edge was lost for years and considered by his people as dead, after slavery and work in mines, he was tortured and drugged, at the beginning of the story he has reached his limits and is nearly calling for death.
Lina and her group of friends have escaped their destined fate as slaves and are hiding in the sewers of a spaceport.
The Trivator might be their only hope to flee from this sh!th0le.
The more Lina is getting close to Edge, the more she is attracted by his bossy but protective self while she becomes his gate to sanity.
But can two damaged souls find their way together when their past can tear them apart.
Lina even if she tries to hold back can’t stand a chance when confronted to the stubborn and loving Edge.
I adored Edge, still wounded and weakened he thinks only to protect. But even as an alpha, he accepts the help from this group of women and recognize their strength.
He is the perfect boyfriend material, caring and ready to stand on the side of his woman.
I’m now curious of what will await Jag, the Trivator commander.

Edge of insanity was amazing, it was a story that hold me from the begining and I didn't want it to end. It was epic, action packed, sexy story. I hadn't completely enjoyed this much the books in the serie since Hunter's Claim wich I adored but after that it was just a matter of not connecting with the MCs feeling or annoyed by the TSTL attitude from a character or the childish way in wich things got resolved. Then it came Destin's Hold and I felt a change in the flow, Ms Smith was back on the saddle again, making me believe in the outcome and building a galaxy so wide and enterteing that it restored my faith in this serie and finally with this book, we're back on the 5 stars territory and I'll be counting down the days until the next installment is out. I'm loving it and I would recommend it to all fans of Sci-fi romance. 1 Ähmsry623 11

Where is the next book?

Sorry this series is so good and it’s a must-read and there was a promise: … to be continued … with Jag‘s Target and … coming soon … but I can’t find Jag‘s story … that can’t be true.

Wonderful exciting romp. I loved the progress of the story and the characters were fantastic. I felt sorry for Edge a bit because he was out of his depth with women and severely outnumbered, but I appreciated how quickly he learned, how loyal he was and his many skills.1 Francesca De La Cruz72 1 follower

I purchased "Edge of Insanity" some time ago but decided to read the book last month. I have read all of "The Alliance" series and enjoyed each one of the stories. However, the story of Edge and Lina has to be my favorite in the series. Not only are there kickass women working a well-oiled combat machine, but the Trivator Warriors are also becoming uber sexy. I will not provide information on the storyline just in case someone reading this review decided to purchase the book. I will say that the storyline held my attention then entire time I was reading. The one thing that caught my attention in the storyline is that there is an older woman (43 years old) written in as one of the characters. Finally!!! And she and Jag will be the next story in the series. I have not read too many SciFi Romance books with an older lead female character. I'm 55 years old, and I screamed with joy when I saw Gail in the storyline. Hopefully, there will be more older characters finding their Amates in The Alliance series. Entertaining as always by this author.
Believable characters and I found this group of women to be extremely resourceful and capable, my favourite type.
Our actual two main H’s Lina and Edge didn’t steal the show but were definitely an integral part of the story.
I did love how Edge behaved and reacted.
Loved that Lina pre-empted Edge with the claiming marks.
Whilst giving us some answers and more questions, we also get a change in the baddie lineup to keep it fresh.
I put off reading this book for a while as there is not yet a next book in this series.
I started listening to my audible version first whilst doing something else but then I sat and read this in one go.
Now I will have to wait patiently (or impatiently) for the next book.
The fact this author very cleverly navigates seamlessly between different but interconnected worlds she has written, always impresses me. Frances Law1,078 12

Escape.

I don't think that Susan could write a bad book but, having said that I'm only giving this one 4 stars. This story about Edge and Luna seems a little contrived.
Luna and her give friends have been hiding in a Waxman space station for the past two years.
Edge has been a prisoner here for 1year, during which time he was pumped full of drugs which are slowly killing him. But the women have found a spaceship and have provisioned it with the hope of finding a pilot which Edge is. Learning where Edge is imprisoned, Luna makes a plan to break him out.
The story is ok but certainly doesn't have the emotional pull of Gracie's Touch or some of the other books that she has written. That's the problem with being successful, everybody expects miracles every time!
