More adventure than romance…..

This book was okay for me. Characters were well developed because you either loved them or really hated them. William and Violet were good characters, but the dynamic between the two was strange and it kept shifting. Initially, he played with her emotions too much, and she had misplaced anger with him often while they still had a strong physical attraction to one another. After they were married, her personality seemed to change all of a sudden, and she became a seductress. I did feel in the beginning at dinner, they began to build a genuine bond, but then everything seemed so surface between them, and all their time was spent dealing with her brother’s problems. Violet’s brother was a terrible person who was selfish and really mean. I felt no sympathy for him even though he had an addiction because he showed her no compassion. I was annoyed William went out his way to help him after everything he did and caused Violet to go through. The whole process helped William to see his feelings for Violet, and they got their HEA and helped her brother, Paul, in the end. I didn’t feel a strong sense of romance in this book as much as I experienced adventure and feelings of verbal abuse from Violet’s brother that he never really acknowledged so it was hard to really connect to Violet and William as this romantic, love struck couple, which is why I could only give this book 3 stars. The Problem With Gambling

I enjoyed this book. It explores the dangers of gambling. Duke William and Violet are thrown together because of her brother's gambling debts. William tries to help Violet avoid a forced marriage to a man her brother has chosen. Whilst trying to help, William and Violet develop feelings for each other. Eventually William has to step in to prevent Violet's forced marriage. This leads to violence, gang trouble, fraud threats, kidnapping and assault but eventually William is able to protect Violet and solve the problem of her brother. Great story!

William had won a house from Paul when playing poker at the club. Upon his win he said that he would give him and his sister Violet one month to vacate. Paul said he was going to get Violet a husband. William decided that he would live with them for the month and fix the house and help get Violet a husband. Paul made a plan to have a merchant pay him for her hand in marriage. He took the money and left because it ended up not being enough money. Violet was kidnapped and William found her and then found Paul. William married Violet as a marriage of convenience. Lots of action!

It was not what I expected, but I loved their connection & the closeness from the beginning. Though I do feel he played with her a little to long, I did enjoy how she refused to give up & how hard she worked & was a vary loyal person despite difficulties & I enjoyed how their conversation & relationship was & the way they became a team. Life’s ups and downs in the Regency era was hard at best but for some it was almost unbearable in this take. The characters related the story to you in a clear picture and portrayed their reactions and feelings in a very specific way. Add in some excitement and you have it. Tony Sommer968 3

Fantastic
