Sinopsis

It is the summer of 1973 in the suburbs of southern California. Robin Sloan’s life is finally regaining some equilibrium after her early high school years of losing her mother to cancer, then losing her place on the varsity softball team.

By the end of her high school sophomore year, Robin snags a paid internship on the local newspaper as a budding photojournalist. The part-time work helps to fill the void left by sports, allowing her to be part of the local sports scene by reporting on it. Then, while on assignment, Robin interviews new transfer student Madison a phenomenal tennis player focused on going pro and winning at Wimbledon.

Through slice-of-life vignettes interspersed with tennis play from Madison’s championship tennis match, the story follows Robin and Madison through their last two years of high school. As their friendship deepens into something more, their reputations and future plans are put in jeopardy. Will they be able to successfully navigate high school and hold on to each other? Or will society’s rules change their life plans forever?
