Sinopsis

Revisit book 2 of the Kat Dupree novels—a fan-favorite romantic suspense series from New York Times best-selling author Sharon Sala
He killed her once...
Throat slashed and left for dead next to her murdered father, a thirteen-year-old girl vows to hunt down the man who did this to them—Solomon Tutuola. Now grown, bounty hunter Cat Dupree lets nothing—or no one—stand in the way of that deadly promise. Not even her lover, Wilson McKay.
Their sexually charged encounters leave McKay wanting more, but Cat is determined to keep her distance. She doesn't need a man making emotional demands, not now, when revenge is near.
Suspecting that Tutuola is still alive, despite witnessing the horrific explosion that should have killed him, Cat follows a dangerous money trail to Mexico, swearing not to return until she's certain Tutuola is dead—even if it means destroying her very soul...

Hmmm. Another stripped paperback from the store by someone I have never read. At first I thought it might have been a tongue in cheek parody. "Die" she ordered. He complied. Seriously. ....it smelled Sunday morning in a Saturday night bar. Once I realized this was supposed to be serious I knew I could scratch another name off my ever growing list of authors. 2 s Lourdes Bejarano102 2

I know childhood issues a really hard to get over and yet, it annoys me when the H/h spend most of the book pushing the other away. They said we most noticed in others what we least about ourselves and they might be something to that. All I know is that I skimmed half of the book until Cat stopped running decided to take a chance in the relationship. 2 s Karen Sheldon838 2

heroine with nine lives

The second book of this series was a surprise for me. The initial intensity of the book changes mid book to a very well written transformation in the character of Cat.1 Leah1,161 350

I hate that Cat constantly pushed Wilson away and made him feel nothing more than a booty call. I hate that she went to face Solomon Tutuola, her father's killer, by herself and got beat to hell for her troubles, even though I do admire her strength and I was glad that she finally killed the bastard. I loved, though, how she fit right in with Wilson's family and they all accepted her. I jumped for joy inside when she finally realized that she loves Wilson. I love that Cat seems to be a natural with babies and that she thought about what it would be to have a baby with Wilson.

Wilson, my poor baby. First Cat pushed him away and made him feel insignificant, and then he got shot. I love that he heard her call and came back for her after going into cardiac arrest. His parents and family were utterly amazing, and I loved his relationship with LaQueen. Also, I loved that he would go through anything for Cat. And I do mean anything.

I am very glad I do not have to read that sick bastard Solomon Tutuola's POV anymore. This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.Show full review5-stars adult-lit m-f1 Diane 239

Fun quick read.1 Sara605 1 follower

I enjoy Sharon Sala in general and this was a pretty good read. I the characters and look forward to more bounty hunting books about Cat Dupree. That's my main complaint, in fact, that the ending was so wide open, that there had better be another book!romance suspense1 Breezy120 7

Very nice sequel, now I'll have to find the next book. I love the two main characters Cat and Wilson, they have a good chemistry.1 Saturnus167

Slower than the first book, but the romance between Cat and Wilson makes it as good as the first one1 Anna-marie15 4

Love isn't always pretty.

Every year, I have a standing date with Cat Dupree and Wilson McKay, beginning on the first of June. Nine Lives was the first fiction book I read after losing my daughter in 2006, and while Chrystal and Cat grew up very differently, I recognized the same fighting spirit in each of them.

Cat is chasing a ghost, one that could very well be the very same monster that cut her throat when she was 13, stabbed her father to death, then left her to die. Cat cannot forget the promise she made to her father to find him and make sure he pays for his crimes, even if it kills her. And she now has a name to go with the face, Solomon Tutuola.

Meanwhile, her fellow bounty hunter and sometime lover has fallen hard for Catherine Dupree. She doesn't know how to accept his love, and he doesn't know how how not to love her. Will they and their love survive? Only time will tell. Barbararose181 2

Cat Dupree was hurt

Sure her ribs were broken, she felt the bruises on her face, but the man who had killed her father was finally dead. She somehow made it to the motel room picking up her phone she punched in Wilson’s number.
He could hardly hear her, but finally understood where she was. He was in love with her but she never said she felt the same, even though she kept pushing him away he knew he had to go bring her home. NayNay393 31

I thought the book was good. It picks up where the first book, Nine Lives, ended.
Same characters, some new. What I really enjoyed in this book is that Cat realized what she now has, she was so rough in the first book, but softer in this one. Cat could finally put the past behind her, and move on with Wilson. It was a nice read, looking forward to the final book in this trilogy.

This was a great book. This series was my first for Sharon Sala. I did enjoy book one Nine Lives. This one I enjoyed even more. There's suspense, action, evil. What I enjoyed the most was the character development after 'Cat' is able to let go of her past. How she's still tough but willing to let love in. Jana Gundy1,919 16

Fantastic!

I absolutely loved this book. Cat is a very determined and complicated woman, hell bent on capturing her fathers killer. Wilson is a determined man who doesn’t let up on Cat and keeping her for himself. So much drama, action and love in this one. Linda Jennings326 4

Wow, wow, wow. I read the first book in the series but this book is awesome. What a great read. Kept you on the edge of your seat and I just fell in love with the characters. Thank you Sharon for this book. I highly recommend Valerie513 14

Better than the last

Fast moving less jerky storyline glow. The oddity of switching from one characters thoughts to another is still in existence. Not so bothersome this time around charmaine White1,833 3

Binge read the first three books in the series and enjoyed them. This one was better than the first and the third one (Bad Penny) was the best of the three. Marie Christensen714 9

3.5 stars More taut action, and the love story between Cat Dupree and Wilson McKay finally gains some traction. 1 Gina446 133

I got to the end of this one and the first words that popped into my head were, 'uh, what?'

I thought the book was pretty good. It continues right from the ending of the first book, Nine Lives, so if you haven't read it, you might want to read that one first.

Same characters, some new. I really d Wilson's family. Remind me very much of my own. And I'm glad Cat realized what she now has.

*Spoiler Alert* Don't read the underlined unless you have read this book! I thought her revenge was going a little far for me. Not that she got it, but how it came about. I don't know... I just don't think I've read a character go so far before. But then again, if she hadn't had the crap kicked out of her, Wilson wouldn't have had an excuse to take her home to his family. So I guess that evens each event out.

I rooted for Cat and Wilson; Cat - so she could finally put the past behind her, and Wilson - so that he'd have Cat right where he wanted her, right where she needed to be.

Now, however, the ending was rushed, and I loathe a rushed ending. And with what happens - okay, I'm sorry, but had I been the character, I'd have kicked the author's butt. After all the crap that Cat had been through, for the author to just throw that part in there ... I thought Cat deserved better. (shrug) Read for yourself and let me know if you agree with me.own romantic-suspense thriller R.1,413

Had to re-read this as I finally got around to reading the other two books, so it made sense to go in order this time around and refresh my memory. This was just as captivating the second time around as it was the first. Wilson and Cat are an interesting combination, though much of this book sees the two of them apart on separate jobs rather than working together. The draw between them is blatant however, and it is very fortunate for Cat that she could call Wilson at the end of her task. Definitely starting to see the softer side of Cat in this one, especially once we meet baby Maria. Who knew the tough as nails bounty hunter could be so maternal? It's definitely not easy for these two between Cat's mission and the Franks brothers out for revenge.

Some errors in this book, just the last. In the first book it's the contradictions on Wilson's age. This time around, the books end references Jimmy Houston still hunting Wilson. However, it is Jimmy & Houston Franks that are the brothers stalking him. Even then, Houston doesn't have half the drive to go after Wilson that Jimmy does. Having read this book, and the one in this 3 book series just before it - "Nine Lives", I know this is the beginning of a long and happy relationship with Sharon Sala's books.
This book raised the question for me...again...about the right or wrongness of killing. I know there are dozens of books where I have inwardly applauded a villain's death, especially when he or she was killed by the hero or heroine. But I know too that I am deeply opposed to taking a life and hope I would never be in the position of feeling I have to do so. I've laughed over, I think it was Will Rogers who asked about someone who had been killed, "Did he NEED killing?" Certainly, the primary villain Cat Dupree spent years searching for was destructive and evil. But what about the sacredness of life, what about love and compassion and forgiveness...? Allyson Abu-Hajar605 30

Cat Dupree is a bounty hunter. Life hasn't been kind to Cat, she was the sole survivor of an attack that left her father dead. Cat has been hunting her entire life after the man, known as Solomon Tutuola, to seek revenge for herself and her father.

She thought the man died in a house fire, but the blip on her screen, is a cause for alarm. Not knowing if the chase will be for nothing, Cat sets off on her own to make sure Tutuola is really dead. Not bothering to tell Wilson McKay, a man who loves her; where or what she is doing, she heads out.

Wilson doesn't give up too easily where Cat is concerned .... And it's a good thing for Cat's sake! Cupcakencorset648 17
