THE BIG DAY by Ruth Harrow is just another in her long list of suspenseful psychological thrillers.

After a bad break up from a disaster relationship, Sam Thorpe has finally found the man of her dreams and after being together only six months they decide on a wedding on a Greek island. With two weeks to go until the big day, Sam opens the front door to a nightmare. Scott’s wife! Scott said that he had never been married and now this woman, Dawn, wants to stay with them as she is half owner of the home until they are divorced.

Dawn threatens to derail the wedding plans by not granting the divorce but she holds Scott accountable for past business dealings with her brother and is determined to make him pay. She insinuates herself into the wedding preparations and does all she can to interfere with the big day.

Meanwhile, Sam is getting warning notes and someone is following her. Who is sending the notes and what exactly do the warnings mean? Sam has struggled for many years to gain control of her life after a family tragedy led her down the path of substance abuse. Can she maintain her sobriety and finally end up with the man of her dreams?

As always, Ruth Harrow delivers. Her writing is clear and concise and always leads to an enjoyable read. I could feel the tension mount as Sam struggled with what to do and could feel the sea spray over the bow during the final confrontation. And as always, I look forward to the next instalment from her devious mind.

Oh my word! This was a fantastic read. The synopsis was a bit off, I never got the “I will have my wedding no matter what” vibe, but more of a “my fiancée says this will go on without a hitch, I’m going to stand by his side”.
The Ex (Dawn) is a real piece of work, I have no idea what I would do in this situation! She does everything in her power to try and stop this wedding. She is awful!
Sam (Samantha) has a secret of her own, but it’s not as ominous as I had thought. I really felt for Sam, and was hurt that Scott was giving into Dawns demands instead of standing up for his fiancée, and giving her the boot.
The twist, the secrets, the betrayal … and that frigging ending - ugh!netgalley-booksirens-booksprout-arc3 s Jessica3

This was a great read! It was a real page-turner and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. The main character (Sam) made me want to shake her because of how naïve she could be and the other main character (Dawn) was such a JERK! I really wanted to give this book 5 stars, but the ending was very abrupt....I wanted a chapter or two more to see what exactly happened with Dawn.
