This novel really intrigued me. Of course it's another San Francisco noir, with all the unique characters and great descriptions of the the Bay Area. Our Ben Raveneau and Liz La Rosa are back to solve who put the skulls and skeletons in the bomb shelter. Very well written and kept me up at nights until I finished it. Well done.action-thriller seductive-thriller1 Winter Sophia Rose2,208 10
Excellent Detective Novel!1 Alan557 8
This guy loves to bring together post-911 domestic terrorism, conspiracy theorists and cold cases. I wouldnt have otherwise given this novel even three stars except that the premise for the story is a good one. But, again, as I found with the other two books in the series, his writing left me a bit cold. Many of the relationships the author describes are characterized by that old saw - inefficiency borne of interagency waffling, mistrust, politics, partial disclosure and one-upmanship. Ho-hum. A substantial part of the dialogue was also centred around questioning ageing witnesses and disgruntled old cops, who, with something to hide, were invariably uncooperative. Again, a bit tedious. All three of these DI Raveneau books could have been a lot better. I wont try his other series. Johnbiker30075
I really enjoyed the first Ben Raveneau book. One of the key things was his interaction with La Rosa and also her career path.
La Rosa speaks about 10 sentences in this second novel and is not involved at all.
Raveneau himself is not very interesting, does not have much of a life or personality.
The story itself was very complicated and not that bad in itself. However, overall I found the book a bit of a dud, dull and I skip read the last 100 pages.thriller Barbara134

Worth the read. I enjoyed the suspense and roller coaster twists and turns of the story. Looking forward to the next book Cybercrone1,917 16
Still not sure about this series. As before, the plotting is great, but I don't really care for either of the main characters and they aren't developing at all. And the author (and his editors) still haven't learned anything about sentence structure.
I'll maybe try one more. Jim Hunter110 1 followerRead
