Excellent, Accurate, and Sexy Depiction of Midlife Relationship

From the very first scene, Rose Bak sets the stage for a real, albeit slightly messy (read the first few pages), romance between two over-50 main characters. As a woman in my mid-50s I'm always on the lookout for stories about "older" characters that celebrates them as fully-formed adults, rather than as fodder for younger characters. "Unexpected Gift: A Midlife Holiday Romance (Silver Fox Falls)" does not disappoint.

Julie is relearning who she is as a divorced, retiree, whose sold her "empty nest" home, and downsized her life. Her meet-cute with one of the eligible "silver fox" bachelors, Dante, could not have gone worse. However, they are each intrigued by the other. Both are relatable, likable characters, who are navigating dating in middle-age, which is not for the faint of heart. Their intimate scenes are hot, and naughty, with a healthy dose of humor.

This story excels with all the secondary characters - Julie's adult children, Dante's best friend, and the hilarious, matchmaking duo of hot gossip connoisseurs, Monique and Catherine. I hope to read more about the residents of Silver Falls, as they navigate life, love, and sex in new (or second-chance relationships.

This is a great beach or weekend read and I highly recommend it!

You're never too old to fall in love, nor to have a healthy sexual relationship. Julie and Dante prove that in their story about a short but intense relationship after both meeting in a retirement community. I loved that these characters are flawed, older and have baggage from their pasts that keep them real. Too many times the people in stories seem air-brushed to be their best version, but Rose Bak writes characters who are just you or your friends - real, down to earth and flawed in some way. It's refreshing and enjoyable.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. I thought that this was a good romance between an older couple. Not out of their prime by any means, but they've have accomplished a lot in life. Julie takes the chance to do something for herself after early retirement. She never expected to find love and is not so sure to trust it. Dante falls hard and fast from their first run in. These two are getting a chance to take an unexpected path. It might wind it's way thru some drama, insecurities, imperfections and doubts but it just might be paved with true love. Overall a good, funny and steamy romance. When Julie moves into a 55 and over community. She is only looking to downsize her life and not looking for a partner. However, what she is hoping for and what she receives are two different things. Finding out that her life has changed drastically, and that there is someone out there that finds her very attractive, and wants to make her part of his life. When Drink Spilling Guy meets Mystery Woman

Hilariously funny, deliciously naughty and heartwarmingly sweet.
A second chance at love for Julie and first time love for Dante, but finding love in later life can have just as many complications, insecurities and meddling family members as young love - they are just more awkward!

The first book in the Silver Fox Falls Midlife Romance and I want to read more. Julie and Dante meet when she moves to the Silver Falls Active Living Community a place for fifty-five and older people. He accidently spills his drink on her.
