"Abide with Me" stands out as a captivating and emotionally stirring tale set against the backdrop of the Civil War, an era and genre I don't typically explore in my reading adventures. Despite my initial unfamiliarity with this genre, I found myself wholly engrossed in the beautifully crafted world and the compelling narrative spun by the author.

As someone not accustomed to historical romance set in such a tumultuous period, I was pleasantly surprised by how deeply I was drawn into the lives of Christy, Trenton, and Levi. The rich character development and the vivid portrayal of their struggles amid the chaos of war transcended any preconceptions I might have had about this genre, pulling me into a story of love, sacrifice, and unwavering faith.

The author's adept storytelling skillfully wove together the complexities of human emotions, societal expectations, and the ravages of war, creating a narrative that resonated deeply with me, despite my initial reservations. The themes of love, loyalty, and the resilience of the human spirit transcended the historical setting, leaving an indelible mark on my reading experience.

3.5 rounded up ??

A sweeping historical romance that spans years and multiple characters. This reads classic literature at times, but there are several instances where modern language seeps in and disrupts the immersion.

I tore through this and really enjoyed the complexities and flaws of the characters. I only wish the main love interest shared the same level of realness, he felt static to me at times. I did how the perspectives went from one character to the next. The decisions made by characters were frustrating at times but I honestly d that as the novels plot was not as straightforward as initially thought.

I really enjoyed this and I believe those that Christian historical fiction will too.1 Nandi Sanderford4

My goodness. This book was quite the journey. The Civil War time period isn’t something I usually choose to pick up, but I trusted the author! She managed to touch on this heartbreaking time for America with a lot of grace and wisdom.
What stands out:
-The character development for every single person was incredible. Their hearts came alive from the page, and I couldn’t help but mourn and joy in each of their journeys.
-there was a moment I never expected… at first, I didn’t love the plot twist, but wow. It WORKED. 5/5 easy.1 Tanya (FaithAndFictionReads)78 18

I loved this book! This was such a beautiful and at times emotional story about love during and after the Civil War. This story had so much depth to it, and I really appreciated that. I think this may have been my first historical read during that time period, I thought Mikayla did a fantastic job with this story and handled the harder topics with such grace. I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading this story. It was so rich, and the cast of characters were great! The characters had depth, which allows you to connect with them. Mikayla Robbins is a new author to me and is now on my radar for any other books she writes! I highly recommend this book! 1 Erin Mullins9 2

Mikayla Robbins has blown me away once again with her wonderful storytelling! This book has to be my absolute favorite from now on! Robbins has crafted a story dealing with a time not spoken of anymore with grace and care. She doesn’t shy away from sensitive elements, and portrays them a with great respect. I never really read this genre but I absolutely love it!

The story line is absolutely beautiful with a hidden message of trusting God during the good days and bad. This story has romance that is portrayed wonderfully as it should be. It’s clean and it’s beautiful as the way God designed it.

This should be made into a mini series because it has great potential!

I highly recommend and will read again!

My are based on how the book moves me. And let me say, the ending to this book had me in tears.

What a journey these characters go through. I can't deny that I went with them, finishing this book in so few days. I sympathized with them, cried with them, felt their embarrassment & guilt, became mad at them. I felt I was on a rollercoaster of emotions the whole time!

I enjoyed this book. So much. If you're a lover of Historical Christian Fiction, this will be a good read for you. It deals with faith, love, loss, grief, betrayal, friendship, and more!

When the title of the book became clear, I bawled. What a beautiful meaning behind it!
