I’m a fan of this series – pure escapism and the character development is brilliant so I do highly recommend reading in order, including the Enemy series.

Mainly I think that I love a good anti-hero and Ryker is definitely that – this time around he’s after revenge but that won’t come easy and as usual with this author it’s a bit of a thrill ride, with added oomph created by the “Silver Wolf” of the title – because we all love a good bad guy right? I KNOW that one is not not just me.

It is easy to get caught up in this – in fact I read it in an afternoon with no problem at all – Mainly I think it’s the “Bourne” vibe of the whole series, a kind of jet setting, hard hitting boom of a read that doesn’t pull punches. I d that the past pulled on Ryker here, back into the intelligence services vortex, a fascinating underworld.

A huge plus of this series as a whole and this book in particular is the excellent scene setting interspersed with the strong character building both in relationships and personality – intriguing and highly readable, anyone who s a great thriller that can steal your time in a good bookish way should pick these up.

I am a huge fan of the James Ryker series and after how The Black Hornet finished, which is the second book in the series, I have been dying to catch back up with Ryker to see what happens next.

It is definitely best to read these books in order. Especially as Ryker is on a revenge mission to find out who is behind his wife’s disappearance.

The story takes us to different locations. It’s definitely a James Bond movie where some parts are set in London and then we are taken to other exotic and fabulous locations where most of us will probably never travel to. It certainly has everything you would expect from a brilliant spy thriller and more.

I have to admit to reading some of this from behind my hands. There are some pretty gruesome parts where I wanted to unsee what I had just read, even Ryker is shocked in one bit which if he is shocked when he is used to seeing horrific things in his line of work then there was no hope for me. Even though it shocked me, it also thrilled me and I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough.

The Silver Wolf is an exciting and thrilling read that sent my heart racing. If a gripping story line with bags of action isn’t enough to tempt you then believe me when I say The Silver Wolf himself will. It was more than worth reading for him alone, which is saying something as I love James Ryker but then there’s nothing better than an exceptional baddie either. This is a high action, fast paced story of ex-intelligence agent James Ryker, formerly Carl Logan. After having been alone for most of his life, he had fallen for a woman, Lisa, and pulled out of the agency to make a life with her. Many Ryker took into custody were still after him, and after his best effort to be hidden, his wife is killed. This story follows as Ryker vows he will find who murdered his wife, and kill them.
Needing some behind the scenes help to complete his mission, Ryker agrees to assist his former Agency with work in the area of those he believes responsible for the murder. This is the third book in the James Ryker series, and you could read it alone but is so much better if you read the first two.
