Wowie! This is one of my all-time favorite series as Kaufman doesn't hold back with his creepy, dark surprises and this is book 5--fortunately, 6 is being written as this one leaves you with your jaw on the floor! Justin is mourning Mandy's death from cancer when he gets a call from Monica--"Mandy's family" with a twist we didn't see coming. Then we have dad Michael who is treating Amanda for her social anxiety and depression (and a host of other things). This is such a great, convoluted storyline that had me gasping continuously until the end where I might have let out a little scream! How can one series keep getting better and better?? The awesome thing about it is you can start with any of the books and get the backstory, or start at book 1--which I recommend--and you feel you really know this family (you may need therapy but it will be worth it)! Now I'm breathlessly awaiting number 6 so I can pick up my jaw and leave the couch!
