Accidentally finding love

I loved Elanya and Damon’s one night stand, dragon-human, accidental pregnancy, fated mates romantic suspense tale. This book hooked me in from the first sentence and took me along for the ride through all the sweet moments, steamy scenes, chuckles, past pain, plot twists, evil actors, missteps, coincidences, and heart squeezing love. Elanya and Damon are portrayed as real, relatable people who have flaws, but are really just trying to do their best as messy beings trying to navigate their new reality. Dragons and humans are in a war. The humans claim it started with an unprovoked dragon attack. The dragons claim it started because the humans kidnapped and imprisoned the dragon son of their sovereign. Damon is a dragon who is also an assassin. Elanya is a human who works for an aid organization assisting humans caught behind enemy lines. Elanya and Damon spent one steamy night together before he disappears and she is imprisoned for murder and treason for allegedly helping the dragons. When a ceasefire is negotiated, the terms included the requirement of eight human women to serve as mates. Elanya is “volunteered” as a dragon mate since she’s currently in prison. When Elanya is chosen as a mate she discovers that Damon is a dragon and she’s pregnant with his child. Not all dragons are happy to have humans amongst them or to learn Elanya is pregnant. There is a lot against a successful relationship between them and to get there, they’ll need to be honest and to learn to trust each other while trying to unpack their own baggage and wade through the politics and backstabbing of dragon society. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, great world building, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. I am looking forward to reading more in this series. 4.5 stars. Ra Ra261 5

3/5 ??
I promised myself I wouldn’t read the next one, but I have a very weak will.

Possible Triggers - kidnapping, imprisonment, violence, murder, abortion reference, infertility, blood,

Tl;Dr - This is why you don’t hook up with mysterious men. They could turn out to be a dragon. AND get you pregnant. AND get you arrested. AND sent to the Dragon Isles as a tribute bride. But things really go awry when you fall in love with a dragon but then discover his shady past (and crazy sister).

The Characters -
Elanya: I, personally, do not feel Eliana was mad enough when she discovered who framed her. She smart, kind, and deserves better.
Damon: Golden Retriever personality ONLY for Elanya. Everyone else gets their face melted with fire.

My Thoughts - I d this one far more than the first. This came a major shock to me. But, everything is better. The plot pacing, the characterization, the spice, and the conflict. Overall, a better and more engaging reading experience. However, I always. ALWAYS. Want more grovel. When Elanya finds out who pinned the murder on her… that person… whom I shall not name… deserved to stew in their pain for a while longer. I the angst. Lauren10

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

I really d this story but felt there was something missing. I understand not everyone s the pregnancy troupe, furthermore the whole accidental/secret child, but this book is very clear that is what it was.

And then…no baby in the book. Not even the epilogue. The only place the baby is, is the cover. Reading so many pages on nesting and preparing for a baby when the entire premise of the book is about an accidental pregnancy and then NO BABY? I wanted the baby. I went into this looking for cuteness as mother & baby settle into a new dragon world with an overprotective dragon father — but we never even get to her being past 3 months pregnant.

If this book was just a standard PNR, I would have rated it higher because the story is very sweet and their love was adorable. Additionally, the writing style really worked for me and the steamy scenes weren’t lacking. In the end, I just felt kind of I spent a whole book waiting for a baby that wasn’t on-page and ended up walking away feeling stiffed (pun intended
