What an amazing walk down memory lane!

And I have to admit that now I'm even less ready to let Cole go...

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Greg Tremblay. Need I say more? He made a series I already came to love years ago when I read it just the more special to me, and this compilation of short stories and interviews with book characters was no exception. And leave it to Rhys Ford with her author's and Greg Tremblay with his narrator's note to make me cry right at the very beginning. Umm, and of course both ensured that I almost ended up in a roadside ditch because they made me laugh so hard.

I loved to hear some scenes from the previous books from a different POV, loved the insight I got from the interviews and loved even more to get a bonus scene which takes place after the end of Dirty Heart that closed the arc between the first and the last book. And this last scene was everything!

OMG, this was so cute. Little tidbits from other characters show what they think about Cole and Jae. I loved those snippets about the times when Jae was not around, what he was doing, and some if them showed just how he felt and how much he struggled. This is a freebie that the author and narrator put out and it's still available through Dreamspinner and it was a sweet way to wrap up my listening interlude with Cole McGinnis and Co.

It's a whole lot of short stories and 'character interviews' allowing the reader/listener to enjoy and get to know the characters in this series a little bit better and it's free so if you love the series you should find this to be an enjoyable interlude as well. A freebie from Rhys Ford and Greg Tremblay, in ebook and audio, this book is for fans of the Cole McGinnis series. Lovingly put together by both the author and the narrator, the book is a collection of short stories—vignettes from the main characters in an alternate POV from that used to tell the main story. In other words, there are quite a few stories told from Jae-Min’s POV. There are also news interviews and a sweet scene between mother figures, Scarlet and Claudia as they discuss “their” boys.

All in all, a very satisfying story and a lovely gift from Rhys, Greg, and the folks at Dreamspinner Press.

Audiobook review

Dirty Bites is a freebie from Rhys Ford and Greg Tremblay and it contains snippets from between the books, scenes from Bobby's and Jae's POVs along with a few character interviews. They are short, sweet and a lot of fun to listen to.

The book starts off with a couple of notes from Ford and Tremblay. How it all started, what the series has meant to them. How it changed them. And let me tell you that when I heard that Dirty Kiss was Greg Tremblay's first foray into audiobook narration I was beyond stunned. Never my life could I have guessed that. Nothing in that narration gave any indication of this. So I have to take my (non-existent) hat of for Tremblay, I'm even more amazed at his talents than I already was. Absolutely flawless.

It was a lot of fun listening to this book. The stories were short, fun and some steamier than others. We got to know a bit of what happened between the books but also a few things from other perspectives. I do have to say that my favourite one was the one where Jae accidentally went dumpster diving and his (mis)adventures with the not quite alive mouse. That scene is so amazingly descriptive that it had my toes curling and me cringing and yet it was beyond awesome. I did read an interview with Ford a while back, where they told the readers that they'd actually had had that happen in real life - which is probably why it all felt so real - because it was.

I'm sad that this is the end of the series, I've loved every single moment I've spent with this gang and while they might make guest appearances future books and series by Ford, it's not quite the same, but I'll take what I can get and wait for the next time we meet.

eating an after dinner mint post a sumptuous dinner ... it was a refreshing catching up with Jae-Min, Cole, Bobby, Scarlet nuna, Claudia, Ichi and Neko! Several of these vignettes come from Jae-Min's POV (especially early on in his relationship with Cole as he struggling with his resistance towards opening his life/heart) and gets sound advice such as "...our hearts refuse to see the world around us and only see the worlds we want to live in." These are small snippets of stories that happen within the stories, a couple of "interviews" and a couple of short stories that amplify and shine a different angle to what we know about Cole & Jae-Min, many times through the eyes of other characters in the books and it's a good thing.

Definitely only for those who have read the entire McGinnis books and if you haven't done so I urge you to do yourself a favor and make this series your Christmas gift to yourself and then enjoy this freebie.

Perfect little set of Cole and Jae-Min stories!
All told from Jae's pov except the last story, which just elevates it all!
Most of these have been published on blogs before but it is good to see these views of the life of the guys. Cole seems as accident prone as normal so life for Jae is always going to be a worry, but certainly full of happenings!

If I ever read the entire series, I shall give a more holistic rating of this book of vignettes, but, as of north now, I am writing it as a standalone.

I fervently believe this is a novella with which you can reminisce different parts/characters from throughout the series - and thus why it is emotive to quite a few people. However, alone, bolstered by the fact that I had thought each scene was going to link into the next, certainly served as cause for befuddlement (esp. with the switching between first and last names of characters I’d never read about before!). That being said, the effort gone into editing and writing this title has not gone unnoticed- cannot be undervalued after my recent experiences with less than admirable attempts (or lack thereof) of this; the blended family setup with the adorable nicknames and depth of affection were undoubtedly profound )my-2023 Erica272

Dirty Bites by Rhys Ford is a novella from the Cole McGinnis Mystery Series. I absolutely loved this book with its peeks into the everyday lives of Cole and Jae along with the rest of the gang Claudia, Bobby & Ichi, Mike and Maddie and of course cannot forget Scarlett. The interview sections makes the reader feel as if they are a part of the story and I cannot get enough of Cole and Jae. This was a collection of bits/shorts previously published in other venues. The POV is from the other characters (a few with Cole). ...eh. This is a quickie ebook collection of random bits and bobs from the Cole McGinnis series the author had done for publicity around various spots on the web, collected together. I really enjoyed the series, but this seemed very unnecessary and slapdash; a weirdly disappointing afternote on an otherwise solid series end.

The ebook wasn't thoroughly proofread, as I found a few mistakes on my read-through. If this had been well thought out, each of the (very short) vignettes would have been preceded by a short author's note reminding you of where each piece takes place in the (very complicated) narrative. I was hard pressed to remember wtf happened to actually get any of the sub-500 word stories, which made it feel a waste of time.

The authorial "interviews" of her characters felt awkward, when considered as part of the narrative of the series -- because they are PR pieces, not intentional fiction. They should have remained that way.

On the whole, I rather wish I hadn't read it. If this volume had included some new original bits in epilogue, it might've been worth it. But hey, it's free, so YMMV. 2017 found-ebook Jodi1,234
