The story was interesting, but the writing style was not my favorite. Some parts were not clear, including how much time has passed between some chapters, the wording was difficult to understand, I had to even use the dictionary tool on my kindle because it was soooo confusing (I very rarely use this tool, but for this book I had to use it a few times).

What I d was that the roles were reversed and the Elves were the bad guys in this novel, while typically is the other way around. I the MMC, and his relationship with his warriors was heartwarming.

I needed more background on why the war started. More world building, the goddess that appeared at the end of the book just came out of nowhere. Who was she? Why was she there? Why was she a prisoner of the elves?

Their relationship was cute and adorable, but that 3rd act conflict was, hmm, immature, let's say. She should have stayed put, but I get it. Some conflict with the elves was needed.

In my opinion, both main characters took questionable decisions along the book and that was frustrating.

Lis (h) flees her home on the outskirts of an elven village when orcs come to raid the village and take down their elven enemies. Orc warrior prince Trenn (H) may have been on the way to secure a treaty by marrying a neighboring orc princess, but when he scents a human as his mate all bets are off and he'll do anything to protect her, including rescuing her from the evil elven Lord Riven who's intent on torturing and breaking her. Trenn is so caring and protective of Lis as he tries to convince her they're meant to be together and still respecting her need for independence. Lis a strong and independent woman who’s a worthy match to stand by Trenn’s side. Loved the secondary characters, Aquila, Vendusta, Enteg, Melena, and Bex - sob, poor Bex. Plenty of heat- that pleasure palace, wow. Hot and steamy orc-human dark romance with lots of action, adventure, violence, and drama. To begin with, I need to address my title. This is every D&D lovers dream, to be able to read a steamy book about two races meeting, going on an adventure together, and even falling in love. When you add in battle, loss, love, forbidden relationships, and more- you have everything you could ever want from a campaign!
