This book made me cry and made my heart hurt. Very fast read and good writing that made the story compelling. Glad there was a happy ending.

As an animal lover I found this book really difficult to read. Although the author did tell a very compelling story that made me want to keep reading, I felt that she might have included an ending that was a bit more realistic. I felt that the protagonist, Justin, was well developed, but I simply do not believe that his problems could be so easily resolved. The good thing about this book was that I am now interested in exploring animal issues. Hannah13

This book is about a dog a he guards a store. And his name is smokey. Other people think he is a mean dog and they call smokey a monster. I this book because i have a dog and he looks mean but he really isnt. He plays with cats. And other people think he is he will bark at you but he will just come up to because he wants to be peted.
