Claudia and her aunt had another difficult case after a guy everyone couldn’t stand was murdered. There were plenty of suspects and I never really guessed whodunit. At the exciting showdown it was pretty obvious and I did wonder how Claudia was gonna get herself and Aunt Daisy Mae out from this craziness! A mystery that kept me reading and guessing! 2023-ku4 s Suzanne128

The author has a remarkable ability to craft a narrative that will captivate the reader until the unexpected conclusion. This is the third installment of the Word Travels Mobile Bookshop Cozy Mystery Series, and ito may be my favorite so far.

Claudia is once again thrust into the midst of a homicide investigation when Jason, the Mayoral Candidate, is tragically killed at his own fundraising event. To further complicate matters, Claudia is observed having an altercation with him shortly prior to his death, thus making her the prime suspect in the investigation. If you read the first book in the series, "Murder in the Library", then you know that Jason is the ex Stalker boyfriend of Layla's and a suspect in her murder. In this book, Jason is running for mayor in a race against Tom Linden, the incumbent mayor.

Jason's reputation for ruthlessness and being a womanizer is well-known, and no one s him, so there are numerous suspects who could have wanted him dead. This book takes the reader on a bit of roller coaster ride through the whole book. I found myself devouring the entire book in a single sitting, unable to put it down, simply because I had to discover the identity of the perpetrator. I suspected who the murderer was, but there were still surprises and twists along the way. The only thing I would have expected was that Claudia would have learned her lesson from the first two homicides in which she was involved, not to confront the suspect due to the potential danger.

When I am reading a book, I tend to find it easier to relax and enjoy the content without the need for a playbill. This series is an ideal fit for this type of reader, as it is full of complex and engaging characters that make the book enjoyable without the need for playbills to keep track of who is who. Additionally, the suspense of the book keeps the reader interested and entertained.

I highly recommend this series and each book just keeps getting better. They are full of suspense, intrigue, a bit of romance and a cat who is always into something. Jasper the cat is one of the main characters in the book. Claudia takes him everywhere and he can be a bit mischievous and fun. He tends to add a bit of humor to the books. I do recommend you read the first two books in the series before this one since several of the minor characters in the other books are in this one along with the protagonist, her eccentric aunt and sometimes naughty cat.

Third outing for Jasper the cat,and Aunt Daisy Mae with Claudia.

You really need to have read the previous two books in this series to get the most out of this third book with a trio of core characters. Partly because this book gives away quite a lot of the previous two plots and also because you will then know more about some of the other characters who are common to the books. I felt this book missed the mark for several reasons. One of these is despite the title being about a travelling bookshop, there is no travel in this story. The previous two books explain why our heroine Claudia and her artist aunt and demanding cat are stuck in one location, but I think insufficient information is given in this story to make it credible.

I d the quirkiness of our main characters and some more examples were shown of their attitudes and approach to life. Some of the minor characters in previous books were developed with a love interest for our heroine emerging. Another, previously antagonistic, character has an apparent redemption and multiple suspects are presented for consideration.

I worked out the suspect almost straight away (there seems to be a formula to the plot) and found some narrative implausible. Examples are: knowing straight away the body on the golf course had been murdered without any details; our heroine accessing someone else's phone for the give-away clue without needing a password. The biggest plot hole of all is our heroine, yet again, (third time in a row) putting herself in jeopardy by confronting a firm suspect. Smart and feisty as she is, she would not have repeated this mistake - especailly after admitting to doing it twice before.

The main redemption of this laziness on the author's part is that it a quick and easy read in the cosy crime genre.

Murder on the Links is the third installment of the Word Travels Mobile Bookshop cozy mystery series. The latest book in this cozy mystery series with Claudia, her Aunt Daisy Mae and Jasper the cat. This trio travel around the country in a van which has been converted into a library, bringing books to people in remote areas. They get their books from markets, sales and libraries selling off books, which is how they've ended up in Greenwood again (the location of book 1).

Third in the Bookshop Cozy Mystery series has Claudia and Aunt Daisy May back in Greenwood where they started in hopes of dedicating the newly designed library to her friend Layla, the victim in Book 1.

Despite being on opposite sides previously, Detective Sterling's slight willingness to accept Claudia's help through part of this investigation shows that he is warming up to her.

Although it can be a standalone mystery, references to characters and encounters from the first edition does come up here.

This is book three in the series and can be read as a stand-alone but I would recommend reading the previous 2 books so you can get the most out of this book. The story is well written with the right amount of suspense and intrigue, twists and turns that will keep you guessing.
