Had promise

The preview seemed to have promise of an interesting storyline. However, the book fell short in delivery. Plot holes and then unexplained jumps, chronological gaffes, actions without explanation, extreme reversals in support character attitudes, disappearing characters, wrong names used in a few places, to name but a few problems, made this book painful to read. It reads as if the author never read the story through upon completion. The novel is in serious need of an editor! 2 s Linda5

very confusing

There were some very odd errors in the plot. For instance it took days to reach her country home but only one to get back. And how did she get there several days before her father who set off before her.1 Nicole Orner1 review1 follower

HOLY PLOT-HOLES!

The timelines make no sense, the plot lines make no sense, the “steamy” sex was a paragraph with a couple of thrusts in the Duke’s study. The Duke suggests the evening is over, but then they are awoken by his brother’s arrival while they are in bed. Confused about the bed in the study? You should be because it makes no sense.

Characters are introduced, disappear, have conflicting character traits. Cousin Madeleine is an innocent about to begin her first season, but also has an extensive whisper network of contacts and refers to her cousin as “my dear” an elderly aunt. She knows about the blackmail, but also doesn’t know about the blackmail. Confused yet?

Also, time travel… it takes two days of nonstop travel to get to the country estate. Despite her father leaving for the estate before Victoria, after 4 days he still hasn’t arrived, but SOMEHOW Victoria makes it back to London in a single day. Sure, that tracks.

Oliver is the bad guy, but don’t worry, he disappears. Has Oliver stolen all of the Dukes money? Or does the Duke still have money to bail out the Earl? Who knows? Does it even matter because by the end of the book, the Earl is the bad guy and he has also disappeared.

This book is absolutely trash. I think it may be AI generated, but even if it was you’d think the “author” would read it and clean it up. You would think an editor would reject it. No idea how this book has good …

The Problems within Families!

I enjoyed this story. Duke Simon and his brother, Oliver, were at odds over their father's will. He had stated that the first to marry for love would inherit. Oliver blackmailed Lady Victoria. She was trying to protect her sister's reputation. Aurora had been, sent away so she could have her baby in secret but Oliver threatened to reveal this, if Victoria did not pretend to love him. The story details the arguments between Oliver and Simon and also the delicate situation that Victoria had been placed in. Will Oliver win and inherit? Will Victoria be able to protect her sister? Will Simon realise he has feelings for Victoria? Read on and discover the truth. Although I enjoyed the story, there were some things that seemed odd. Victoria visited Simon's home without a chaperone. She also travelled to her sister's house without one. Victoria's father set out to demand that Aurora did not marry her lover but Victoria set out later than him yet still arrived before him, in fact, I don't think he arrived at all and was not at the wedding. Misty not steamy

I love Scarlett Osborne but I'm not enthusiastic about this story. It has a great premise and the story was interesting but it lacked the steam that she usually has in her stories. Lady Victoria is a worrier and constantly on a state of panic and we never really learn about Simon. And whatever happened to Oliver? Very all over the place written and storyline. Again Victoria is just a mess at the end of the book. Not a fan of this story but I will keep reading scarlet Osborne Vickie Gehrt169

Never fear love will find you!

Scandal, blackmail and heartache are the recipe for this story, but not the whole recipe! Its tale is told through wonderful and relatable characters and the situations they find themselves in. When a story has you hating the evil one and rooting for the innocent that’s a good sign of a good story. … this one! Pauline Clark184 2

Hot and steamy

In this story Victoria and Simon meet due to his wicked brother who wishes to be lazy rather than work and live off the wealth his brother earns. Fortunately his plans back fire and the couple have a wonderful love. Cecelia Gardon260

Great Story!

This was very well written, with just a bit too much angst and worry. Still, the plot was fabulous and the characters well written.

Oliver needs his story told though. Lynn Boone294

really good!

This is an excellent read! I adore the characters….especially Victoria. So well written with all the characters well developed. I do wonder what happened to Oliver though. This story grabbed me right from the start and kept me interested to the very end. Am Goff465 1 follower

Loved this story of Victoria and Simon. He is a cynic and she is blackmailed in order to save her sister's reputation. There is a secret Simon needs to unravel about the unseemly engagement of Victoria and his brother. However, the plot thickens in this steamy storyline! Yamlan84 2

the blackmail

Victoria is trapped into a false betrothal and blackmailed by Oliver the Duke’s brother.
The blackguard is a drunk & gambler and to protect her sister’s secret she had no choice but to play along.
Lovely book full of twists and turns and highly recommended

Exquisite!!!

Love this story and the main characters of Simon & Victoria. He thought himself incapable of deep feelings. She was forced into a fake coutship. Through it all, their feelings for each order grew, becoming the most important & satisfying surprise. Hugely Recommend!!! Marci Marin37
