This gets off to a rather calm, underwhelming start, given the situation and I’m not sure it’s plausible. Still, it’s pretty fun, so I hang in there. Just as the characters start to agree to a survival plan, and set about it, it jumps to 3 months later … it seems lowkey lazy writing to show so little. I’m all for a bit of a time jump—I just don’t think this one was executed well. It seems there would’ve been show-worthy drama in the first 3 months that a bunch of young people are trapped in a skyscraper during an apocalypse, no?

It did grip me though, for the entire duration of the book, so ultimately, I’d say it’s well done. It ended a bit abruptly for me, and I’d love to see some sort of follow up. But overall, I enjoyed it.

3.5 stars.

Audio—
This narrator did a good job. Smooth enough voice. He did sound a bit robotic, clearly opting for this rather than performing the book, but it was tolerable. He mispronounced a couple of words, nothing too distracting. The production quality is good. 4 stars on this front.

Back to the beginnings !

Beautifully written !

Midnight till five and loving it
all !!!

The author Nate Johnson always surprises me with his amazing imagination.
I’ve loved listening to his futuristic space science fiction genre, an apocalyptic end of the world genre never appealed to me but with surprise this author made it unexpectedly and so far a good and enjoyable story which is impossible to take breaks and then a wait for the next one to come out but he made it all worth it.

The narration by Jordan W. Hopkins was a perfect choice voicing each character perfectly !

Absolutely,
and with out a doubt
recommended !!!

Good ideas in this book. Does need an edit, wrong words used at times and punctuation isn't always correct.
It is a series.
This story does have a HEA but we see the characters in the next book.

Taking refuge in a high tower is clever.

The characters meet up with 5he characters from book 1.apocalyptic-dystopian1 robyn dixon97

Actually a four-year but dinged for typos

Good story if a touch predictable sometimes. Though alternating chapters were from different characters perspectives, one still didn't actually understand Evan's motivation most of the time.
Really, really could use a beta reader/proofreader.
Here's a clue: you store vegetables in a root CELLAR; a root seller, I guess, sells vegetables.

The End Of an Era Book 3.

Because it starts at the beginning of the beginning with a different set of characters it takes a little getting used to but it's not long before I'm caught up in their story and these were a particularly easy group to . A brilliant book with a beginning that was slightly more interesting because of the different circumstances in which the group came together. Yes, it's definitely worth reading. green Robert Smith281 1 follower

Great book

I have really enjoyed these first two books. I can't see how he can make this story any better. I couldn't put it down. He couldn't haven't picked a better cast of characters. Evan is a hero of heroes. I recommend reading this book because it makes me feel I'm in this. Tammy Stark-kennedy28 2

Just a repeat

Same story as the first 2 books, but different location and names. A young boy with “wide shoulders and leather scent” that seems to take control and a young independent whiny girl that thinks she knows everything that gets mad at everything the boy says. She hates him, he’s attracted to her, neither talk about how they feel and by the end they fall in love. Carol Kaiser113 2

This series is worth reading again and again

Nate Johnson is the master of creating characters with d Red pth, an FC heart. Characters who capture your imagination and your heart. These books should be developed into Screenplays and film! Mike Mats19 2

A fun read!

Read this book non stop overnight. Fast paced, well written, well developed characters. What's not to love? Not one page gave me pause, I never wondered if I should look for something better to read because this book was so good! Beck891 48

formulaic

The first book in this series wasn’t too bad. Books 2 and 3 show the author following a formula not un a cheap bodice ripper romance trope. Disappointing and disappointed. I won’t bother with the rest of the series. Robert Moore122 3

Same basic plot as the previous books

Still mostly a YA novel. Boy meets girl. They face travails. They go from initially disliking each before finally admitting they were truly, madly in love with each other. All set in a world that has ended. Celia138 Read

Loved this book.

I enjoyed how the author did not kill off the main characters. Great story! I hope to read more books by this a5. Hopefully a book 3? G S380 5

THE END OF AN ERA

Another good read, still enjoying this series. One can only imagine what it would be to live in this era. Hopefully not in my time. Phil Jacobsen21

Same as the first two in the series. Same plot, just different characters, and different setting. Brittany Thompson225 1 follower

Becoming pretty predictable. I'm invested to finishing the series and see how it all connects. Natalie Mullen24 2

Poorly edited book!
So many spelling mistakes and grammar!

I don’t know that this book actually goes anywhere.
Promising storyline but lacked character depth and construction. Shelley L Correll-Pietsch16

Just keeps getting better

Well done!
I’m thoroughly enjoying this series. I love finding a new to me author who has this kind of wonderful imagination and talent. Leslie285 2
