- Oh, I'm sorry. Was I supposed to give a straight answer without going off topic or going off on stupid tangents? Why should I, when this fucking book keeps dancing around the answer and using a million various types of delaying tactics instead of giving ME a straight answer. You know what happens when someone doesn't give me an answer to something in real life? I go fucking ask someone else. I go pursue something until someone tells me what the fuck is going on. Chloe's detection and questioning is limited to two people, who, despite claiming to be her ally, doesn't tell her a fucking thing, and to further add to my frustration, Chloe doesn't fucking ask anyone else. There are a ton of people in school. GO FUCKING ASK AROUND.

It is not detection when the main detective is an idiot who can't get her fucking head on straight and get a fucking clue already, instead choosing to focus on her inexplicable feelings about a baaaaaaaaaad, traaaaagic boooooooooy. Actually, two. Both of whom are textbook clichéd. The gorgeous, golden boy whom every girl in school adores. The tragic, too-beautiful-to-be-true juvenile delinquent with a heart of pure fucking gold. While we're going on tangents, let me just go make some cookies, since we have two such cookie-cutter characters on hand.

There is a horrifying lack of credibility in this book. YA novels have an uphill climb in general, when it comes to a teenager or teenagers unsolving mysteries. It further stretches the boundaries of belief when the main character lacks rationality and the plot and elements involved within the book doesn't lend itself to credibility as well.

Summary: The copywriter who wrote this book's summary doesn't seem to have read it very closely. Chloe is a junior in high school; when we meet her, it is in May, and she's trying to not flunk her classes in the last few weeks of school. She has poor impulse controls, and is prone to acting out in a self-sabotaging manner, for example, pulling a fire alarm in a sadly misguided attempt to spare her best friend from a moment of embarrassment. Chloe is a poor student with high aspirations; she wants to get a Ph.D in psychology one day, which is a pretty lofty dream since Chloe can barely read a page of her textbook without falling asleep. Which she does, in study hall. When Chloe reawakens, it is November, and she cannot remember anything that has happened, but one thing is clear: her life (and it is her life, not an alternate universe or a parallel universe) is drastically changed.

Chloe is now a senior in high school, she has already taken the SATs, receiving a tremendously high score of 2155. While by no means on track to becoming valedictorian and being courted by Ivy Leagues, the summary suggested, Chloe is doing significantly better in school this year, with a 3.90 GPA. She is also apparently a model student, the ideal daughter, the ideal girlfriend, too, which is a surprise, since Chloe didn't have one six months ago. Her best friend, Maggie, is no longer talking to her, and she is suddenly one of the most popular girls in school.

Her new boyfriend is Blake Tanner, the golden boy in school, the brilliant jock, the volunteer, the boy every parent want their daughter to date. Chloe should be happy, but she is inexplicably attracted to the school's juvenile semi-juvenile delinquent bad boy, who is a brilliant genius despite his cold, brooding exterior.

Chloe doesn't know what happened in the past 6 months, but she's determined to find out. She pursues clues from out of fucking nowhere, while fighting against her inexplicable feelings of attraction for the bad boy who keeps pushing her away. Will Chloe ever stop throwing herself at Adam long enough to find out the truth?

The Plot: A fucking mess. Chloe spends half the time deliberating about her feeeeeeeeeelings towards the boy she shouldn't be looking at, much less crushing on, while she's dating the most wanted boy in school. In between her emotions, Chloe finds the time and bumps fuck-as-all-hell randomly into clues that might help her solve the fucking mystery. Along the way, nobody, and I mean fucking NOBODY gives her a fucking straight answer, and Chloe doesn't seem very persistent in getting a straight answer from anyone either.

Clues? What fucking clues. Out of fucking nowhere, her friend mentions the name "Julien" and all of a sudden, Chloe decides THIS IS IT. JULIEN IS THE KEY TO SOLVING THE MYSTERY OF MY AMNESIA. I WILL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO GO FIND HER. And conveniently, her former best just happens to be taking a trip to Southern California, where Julien now lives, off we go to San Diego! BAM! Can you say deus ex machina Yes. Deus ex fucking machina. Because instincts, feelings, feeeeeeeeeelings, are essential to solving a mystery. Not facts. Never facts.

Chloe is trying to solve her amnesia and nobody fucking gives her an answer. This book would have been 200 pages shorter if Chloe had actually been persistent in getting people to fucking talk. Chloe seems to think that only two people in the world are capable of giving her an answer of what happened within the past 6 months: her former best friend, Maggie, and her shouldn't-be-crushing-on-him-because-she's-already-got-a-bf secret love, Adam. I wanted to strangle them all, Maggie and Adam for beating around the fucking bush, and Chloe, for being one of the dumbest, least persistent detectives to ever grace an YA novel.

So it goes pretty much this for the entire book:

Chloe: I don't remember what happened, guys ;_; I've got amnesia and I don't know what happened the previous 6 months of my life. Can you guys tell me please?????

Maggie: I HATE YOU AND I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU EVEN IF YOU CLAIM NOT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. Ok, fine, I trust you and we're friends again, but I just don't wanna talk about it, ok? The events that I keep bringing up are so mysterious that I don't want to give you details!!! You were so mean to me! SO MEAN. I told you what would happen. I'm going to be mysterious and vague that because we're such good besties.

Chloe: @______@ Adam? Please, honey sweetie pumpkin boo pie?

Adam: *smirks* I don't know. Maybe. It's not that important. I mean, I know you're hurting and all, but I am, too. You should remember what happened, because it involved US. And am I that unimportant to you? Go away now. No! Don't! Come back! I you, a lot. But I'm still not gonna tell you a fucking thing. Let's gaze into each other's eyes.

Chloe: But...my memorie---oh, sure, babe ^_______^ God, you are so tragically beautiful.



The Premise: When dealing with a contemporary YA setting, situations and events have to feel real, particularly when the premise revolves around a mystery. A plot involving a teenaged character playing detective is hard enough to swallow without me constantly scratching my head thinking about the inconsistencies and inaccurate-seeming details within the book. I am a very critical reader; others may overlook such minor details. I do not.

For example, if there's one thing all high school seniors know, it is the fact that crap grades for the previous 3 years will not get you anywhere NEAR a fucking Ivy League-grade school, even taking into consideration a high comprehensive test score. After "awakening" in November, Chloe has supposedly been courted by some very excellent schools, thanks to her excellent performance in school for the past 6 months, despite a previously crappy high school transcript.

Are you fucking kidding me? For one thing, honey, it was SUMMER for 3 months. You've only been in school THIS year for 3 months, if that. That is NOT enough time to get your fucking GPA up to 3.9, considering in November, your grade reports for the autumn quarter hasn't even come out yet. For another thing, if you were to submit your transcript to a college for approval, it will NOT have shown your very recent excellent performance, just all the crap you've been doing for the past 3 years. Nice try, book, but no deal. I don't buy the Chloe-turned-into-a-perfect-pretty-princess-in-6-month-with-the-ideal-life one bit.

I know I'm in the minority here but I think all the 5 stars gave me too-high expectations for this one. It is very close to a 4 star read so I'm far from hating it but, I expected more - or at least different.

I can understand why so many love it though. Suddenly waking up with no memory of the last 6 months is a very terrifying premise. One that had me completely stupefied, and thus absolutely engrossed. Chloe's narrative is written with all the disorientation, annoyance, and anxiety of someone who may or may not be going crazy. As you can expect no one believes the "nonsense" she seems to be spouting. She's an easy to character with a fierce determination to get to the bottom of things. She knew something just wasn't right and I d that about her. The more we read, the more Chloe finds out things that deepens the mystery, increasing the anticipation in turn. It is definitely very addicting and made reading this book a real thrill.

On the other hand - the one not making fist pumps of awesome - when we finally do get answers for the big old mysterious missing 6 months, I was pretty disappointed. It was a touch too out there for me. I was hoping for something more psychological, and thus more poignant. As it stands, not only does it feel a familiar plot to me now, but the big reveal left a lot to be desired. Answers are thrown at us without delving into them, leaving me with nothing but new questions and cocked eyebrows.

One thing that was a hit or miss was the romance. I really enjoyed the connection between Adam and Chloe. Adam himself I grew to adore. I d seeing Chloe kick Mr Donkeyface to the curb. I loved that it was kept secondary to the mystery. But then.. what I did not was how it all turned out. I kind of ended up disliking Adam despite any regret he had. It may not even be fair to him since some of it was out of his control, but alas. I think it's the fact he kept it from her. Lastly, I wished Chloe didn't over analyze and/or obsess over Adam so often - though this is really a minor complaint as it was easy to ignore.

All in all, I was expecting something that would just BLOW my freaking socks off, you know, and then it just didn't. It's certainly not a bad book by any means. I was fully entertained and it had my gears turning at full steam throughout. I was simply expecting a massive psychological-thriller that, although started that way, ended up being something else.

I wanted to this book. Really, I did. My friend lent me a copy and praised it, but as soon as I got through the first three chapters...

I hated it. Vehemently. My younger sister can attest to my outbursts of rage at certain points of the book.

A major issue I have with Six Months Later is realism. In writing this story, the author should have consulted someone with expertise concerning college applications nowadays. This would have prevented many of the errors and misconceptions presented in this book. For example, not only is a SAT score of 2155 impossible to achieve (SAT scores are in increments of ten), but it also will not save an applicant with a nearly failing GPA for three years and almost zero extracurriculars. It doesn't work that way. It just doesn't.



The protagonist Chloe thinks her entire college application process and academic life will be so simple now because of that SAT score and her current 3.9 GPA. She mistakenly believes she could miss a month of school without it mattering anymore. When Chloe receives college mail from Columbia and Notre Dame, she and her parents consider that a signal of guaranteed admission. Those letters are sent to many people to spread word of their schools and to expand the size of their applicant pools; they do not guarantee your acceptance there. In addition, compared to many of the students applying to top tier schools those in the Ivy League, a SAT score of 2155 is not out of the ordinary.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, Chloe.



Now I think you're all getting tired of my nit-picking at these details, so let's focus on the key aspects of novels: the plot and the characters. Six Months Later has a very intriguing premise. Chloe wakes up with no memory of the past six months, a concept that captured my attention. However, I quickly lost my interest when the mystery solving dragged on far too long. Chloe searches for answers from only two people, her best friend Maggie and her crush Adam, neither of whom ever give her a straight answer. They continually dodge the topic, and she keeps getting distracted. Sure, there is a cute guy interested in you, but does he matter that much when your life is in danger?! Why isn't Chloe more worried after unraveling a possible conspiracy endangering her and other dangerous, suspicious things? I couldn't help but wonder why she did not go to the authorities or even her parents.

As for the characters, Chloe is a bit awkward at points, but as I mentioned above, what really bugs me is her lack of persistence in seeking answers. Other characters fell into well-known stereotypes: the loyal best friend, the golden boy boyfriend with a secret agenda that he does not hide so well, and the "bad boy" who has a heart of gold and absolutely loves the main character for mostly inexplicable reasons. Even small twists the reason behind Adam's past crime are pretty predictable, though I do have to admit some moments between Adam and Chloe are kind of cute. Not enough to save the book, but cute.



All in all, if you are not good at predicting plot twists and remained unbothered by academic inconsistencies, this book will most ly leave you enthralled and live up to its label as a "thriller." As for me, this is my reaction:

Six Months Later was quite an amazing read! Natalie D. Richards has created a wonderful plot, well developed characters, and a story that will leave you breathless. I cannot recommend Sic Months Later highly enough to fans of mysteries, thrillers, and contemporaries.

I think the beginning is set up amazingly. The first chapter sucked me in, and then once I got to the second chapter... well let's just say I was a goner. There is a reason I read this book in one sitting. I bet most you will read it I did, with your eyes glued to the page and the tendency to ignore the things happening around you.

The characters were very enjoyable. Chloe was, well, kind of a wreck most of the novel, but who could blame her? She forgot six months of her life! Despite that, I d her very, very much. She was smart, realistic, and an overall memorable character. Adam was another one of my favorite characters! I wasn't too sure about him at first. However, I grew to really him as we are introduced to him properly. I won't say more for fear of spoilers, but I promise all of you will love him!!!

I can't not mention Maggie. She was so sweet, and I really felt for her. Maggie is Chloe's former best friend. They were very close, but when Chloe wakes up it seems they are not friends any more, and it seems to be all Chloe's fault. You can see how broken stuttering yet strong Maggie is, and I was rooting for the friendship to be rebuilt the entire time.

Now, let's mention the plot. Well, long explanation short, it was pure genius. Just... no words. This has been the best mystery/suspense I have read in a while, maybe since I read Rebecca a few months ago! I was kept guessing, which is an enormous treat for me! Even in some of my favorite thrillers, I figure out the twist, no matter how masterful, before the characters. However this was not the case in Six Moths Later!

Overall, this is a shining diamond! Six Months Later exceeded my already high expectation, and the I was so happy I had the chance to read this book. The novel has such a killer plot and awesome characters! If this book sounds up your alley, go pick the story up!

This book has been on my TBR for over a year now, and I finally decided to give it a read, and that was pretty disappointing. This book has so many cliches and lacks realism. It started off interesting enough - our main character Chloe waking up randomly missing the last six months of her life. It started off intense and promising, but I quickly lost interest as it turned into a cheesy high school drama. Instead of doing everything she possibly can to figure out what the fuck happened to her (as I would and I think anyone would), Chloe thinks people will think she's crazy if they found out she can't remember anything, so she tries to carry on in her life and figure out what's going on all on her own, which was so annoying. All the confusion could have been avoided if she just asked somebody.

Instead of figuring out what's going on in her life, Chloe gets involved in this very dramatic love triangle. She is apparently dating this guy named Blake who is a total douchebag but her parents love him and he's the golden boy at their school so she's so confused as to why she doesn't actually him. Then there's Adam who is this beautifully tragic (cliche as fuck) character, who she is so in love with out of nowhere and she just wants to stare at his good looks all day long. Obvoisuly Blake and Adam butt heads trying to get Chloe's attention and it became this over the top, cheesy love triangle, while all I wanted was to figure out what the fuck happened to Chloe.

Then there's her friendship with Maggie who is supposedly her best friend in the world but six months later and they had some sort of fight and Maggie won't talk to her and she won't even fill her in on anything that happened, which was equally annoying. Also, the way Chloe's education plays out was completely unrealistic. She goes from a completely average student to becoming a fucking genius within six months, and she gets near perfect SAT scores and gets accepted into all the best colleges in the country okay.. Even though she was a mediocore student in high school up until her senior year which has barely even started by the way. It's so unrealistic. I know it's a small technicality but it's annoying.

By the half way point I didn't even really care how it ended anymore, I completely lost interest. What would you do if six months of your life has been wiped out? Who would you tell--would you tell? When Chloe falls asleep in the middle of school and wakes up lying in the snow, in complete confusion of how she got there and why Adam was by her side. After all, she always thought Adam as a complete creepo. Soon, she finds out that she is dating Blake, a boy who she'd only dared to have a crush on before and that her academics have soared sky high. Even though her new life seems perfect, her childhood best friend, Maggie isn't in it. During the six months, something made their friendship snap.

The characters in Six Months Later were fun, but already just a day after finishing, I can't recall much of their personalities. Chloe's memory, mine's been washed away about anything I truly felt about the characters. I as easily frustrated with Chloe, she took some time to tell her parents what had happened to her memory- though I appreciated that she could keep calm in a shocking twist of events. Maggie was also enjoyable, I love that Natalie Richards created an undeniably flawed character--one the stutters and is really hard to accept people as Chloe's ex-best friend. Her character wasn't shallow, in the sense she'd just forgive Chloe easily, nothing major happened but she wasn't difficult and stubborn about Chloe's attempt at rekindling a friendship either.

The romance was one of my favourite aspects. There is a slight hint of a love triangle but it's really non-existent. Adam was really sweet, I adored his personality- not possessive but a nice balance between humour and empathy. And Blake was just a jerk face. Another aspect that was highly d was the plot. I was confused just Chloe was about past memories and the way we find out more about her six months was fun and well paced.

My main issue, was how believable the reason behind Chloe's memory loss was. I wasn't totally satisfied with the answer and it made no spence because it just induced more plot holes and questions to no end.

All in all, an entertaining read with a few problems with plot holes and the characters. Still recommended!blog-tour books-i-own contemporary ...more18 s Stephanie374 350

Before you decide to read Six Months Later, you should ask yourself this question: Are you OK reading a mystery that is not mysterious whatsoever? I'm not particularly adept at guessing endings, but in this case, I figured out the big secret very early on. As I continued reading , it became increasingly evident that I was correct. I was still prepared to enjoy myself, but everything here fell apart as the ending neared, and the story grew increasingly sillier.

What makes this so disappointing is that Six Months Later started off very strongly. Chloe falls asleep at her desk one summer day, and when she wakes up, she's still at her desk, but there is snow on the ground. No one else is in the room. Strangest of all, her fingernails are dirty, and her clothes are different. What happened??? Sounds a great start, right?

But after the opening, everything starts to go off the rails. Chloe soon realizes that six months of her life disappeared, and she's understandably terrified. But for reasons I still don't understand, she keeps her memory loss a secret for a long time. She plays dumb to her parents and those around her, even as she realizes her life completely changed during that period. She somehow became a genius, she's dating, Blake, the hottest guy in school who barely knew she existed before, and she's suddenly popular.

Her confusion leads her to overlook what is blindingly obvious to us: There's something VERY off about Blake. He sends her strange, menacing texts. He follows her around and pops up in odd places. And he seems to have some ulterior motives for dating Chloe.

This story wouldn't be complete without a love triangle, so let's throw in another hot guy, Adam, who's clearly into Chloe, un Blake, the supposed boyfriend. He's supposed to be a "bad boy," but you'll laugh when you learn about the crime that got him in trouble. On the surface, Adam's crime was robbing a pharmacy, but with the way the story was headed, I knew we'd be given a suitable and sympathetic explanation for the crime. I did not, however, expect that he'd be painted as some kind of Robin Hood/Boy Scout hybrid.

The author's attempt to paint Adam as a Prince Charming isn't entirely successful. He knows Chloe lost her memory, but he becomes irrationally angry when Chloe is informed of his little pharmacy shenanigans. He believes that she should have somehow deduced the heroic reason for his crime, even though she barely knows him. (Keep in mind: Chloe got to know Adam during her "missing" six months, so to the present-day Chloe, he is basically a stranger.)

At Six Months Later nears its end, Chloe is in serious danger, and she hems and haws while other characters insist that she call the cops. Even I was thinking, "Call the cops, dummy!" But because it wasn't convenient to the plot, she doesn't listen. Again, more predictability ensues with the unveiling of the Big Bad who nicely delivers the standard explanation for all of the preceding dastardly deeds.

Okay, so truth in advertising: Yes, I blog with this author. Yes, we're friends. I'm sure some people will think that's going to make me crazy biased, but I don't review books on GR unless I LOVED them and this one? I loved it. Truly.

Okay. So disclaimer aside, let's get to the good stuff. I won't bother with a synopsis because y'all know I can't summarize for crap so I'll stick to what I d.

Chloe. She's a great heroine and so so so human. Here's a girl who wakes up to a whole new life and, after the initial freak out, pulls herself together and moves forward.

And I think that's the beauty of Richards's premise. It actually seems this really cool fairy tale (the girl wakes up to a perfect new life with a perfect boyfriend and perfect future--who wouldn't want that?) and then it starts to decay. Chloe has to make a choice between what everyone is telling her is the right thing and what she knows is the right thing. That's crazy pressure.

Hmmm. What else? OH!! Adam. If you your heroes skewed toward bad boy (think The Perfect Chemistry series' heroes), you'll love Adam. I think the best part about him is how he sees Chloe differently than other people see her. Yeah, we've read that before. I know. But it's WHY he sees her differently that makes this so perfect for me. Adam's used to being dismissed and marginalized. He knows firsthand what can live underneath a person's facade and I love that about him.

Then there's the suspense. I read SIX MONTHS LATER in one sitting. Considering my ADD and general nervous energy, this is unusual. But I could not stop turning pages. I HAD TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.

So, yeah, in summary? It was a great read. You need to pick this one up.

Contemporary mystery novels have officially become a favorite sub genre of mine. Six Months Later is a strong addition to this sub genre. I love how creative authors get with the mysteries but never cross the line to an absurd and unrealistic plot line. Six Months Later follows Chloe, a high schooler who wakes up one day in the library with no recollection of the past six months of her life.. and what is weird is that her life took a 180 degree turn. She is now top of her class, the top 1% percentile with her SAT score and is now miss popular. Frustration isn't the only emotion Chloe exhibited throughout the novel. If I was in her place, I would have gone crazy.

What I d about Chloe is that she was calm, collected, and didn't blabber on to everyone about her memory gap. However I kind of disd her naiveté in reading people and the situation she is in. Maybe the author made the readers too observant but when Chloe would speak to people, sentences "He's suddenly jittery and distracted. Shuffling papers and checking his phone" would always be present and very obvious to us. Chloe is making this observation, and it wasn't the first or last observation she has made that is that so I kept on hoping she would confront these people but nothing, nada. I also wished she confided in her parents but her mother is a nightmare, she herself needs to get into therapy for her constant anxiety, so I somewhat understood her difficult situation.

Reading Six Months Later was watching an episode from a crime/police show (think The Mentalist if it was pre-death, or Criminal Minds) with that heavy feeling on your shoulder that something is up and something big is going down at the end of the episode, or book in this case. I always eat that up. I know I got frustrated in the process but I still needed to know what the deal is with the memory loss and the sudden shoot up of Chloe's IQ and popularity. Natalie D. Richards narrates it in a way that doesn't give anything away so you are seriously left making up the randomest and weirdest theories to try and figure out ahead of time what the plot twist is.. and no, I wasn't able to guess, at all. There is romance in Six Months Later and I thought it was very adorable and stomach butterfly inducing. The characters are all very mysterious, to keep them suspicious, so you don't get to find much about most of them but they all felt they had a legitimate backstory and history that is purposefully kept away from us on purpose.

I am a sucker for mystery novels, but I AM picky regarding them since I watch so many mystery shows that I can now accurately predict plot twists left and right. 4.5 STARS | SIX MONTHS LATER was DELICIOUSLY SMART and THRILLING! I read this book in one day, and was ADDICTED to the story, romance, and insane mystery! Chloe fell asleep in May and woke in November missing six months of her life. As she tries to get her bearings, she learns that she has gone from slacker to super student, from admiring the boy of her dreams from afar to being his girlfriend, and from having a best friend to not being on speaking terms.

It was wild and twisty ride I took with Chloe as she got to the bottom of what happened to her life. Not only did her bouts of paranoia make me tense, but she also got caught up in some precarious situations, which had my heart pumping.

I really enjoyed the way Richards slowly reveals the important parts of the puzzle. Piece by piece, the big picture began to take shape. I pretty much grabbed this book any time I could in order to get a few more pages in, and get closer to the conclusion.

Secrets, drama, and nefarious plots galore, I was all in on this one.

Great Read, Got a Chance to read the ARC, The Beginning is just creepy, I can't imagine falling asleep in class, and waking up 6 months later with all new friends and a whole new life.

The Plot keeps you riveted, and just when you think you have figured it out, Richards throws you a new curve.

The writing style is very witty, and the Dialog is so natural, I was not just reading the conversations I was hearing them.

Why You Should Buy It

This creeptastic mystery will grab you by the lapels from the first word and won't let go until the very end. Six Months Later is everything to love in a great mystery thriller book.

There are some books that you have to get into to. You have to push through the first few chapters before the rewards pay off. And then there are those books that grab you from the first word. Six Months Later happened to fall in the later category. From the first moment I opened it, I was hooked. I spent the entire book confused, stomach in knots, wondering what was going on. This book was downright creepy!

The writing was great, but beyond that the story was so captivating. I mean, pages into the story she is waking up six months in the future, so you spend most of the book wondering what happened to this poor girl. The confusion, twists and turns were just enough to propel the story through to the end.

There is one other thing I want to mention about the book. I LOVE how Chloe realizes that all the changes in her life that everyone seems to love are just not her. She is a strong enough individual to understand that being things you aren't just to please others is not what life is about. And especially when she comes to the conclusion that the things she has to be to date a boy she d aren't who she is, we really get to see what a mature and intelligent character we are dealing with.

As a person who normally figures the plot out early in a book, I was pleasantly surprised to NOT know what was going on for most of the book. I had all kinds of wild theories going on: pod people, aliens, mind control, comas, etc. Trying to figure out what was going on was just as fun as reading the book.

And even when you find out what is going on, there still isn't relief. I was so nervous, so invested in Chloe that I couldn't slow down until I knew she was safe. And that, my friends, is why I enjoyed this book so much. It was everything to love in a mystery thriller.

These is one of the times in your life you find an incredible book with an amazing, mysterious and realistic story that leaves you speechless. And Natalie D. Richards' story is, definitely, one of THOSE books.
I have to sincerely thank Romily Bernard for introducing us, not only the great Natalie, but her novel. I'm definitely madly in love with the story, the characters... well, everything!
We always say that If a book is worth reading it, has to keep you on edge, with this nostalgic feeling when you stop reading it and, even when you are doing something else, you're still thinking: "What would happen next?". That's a book worth being in our Fantastic Flying Book Club, and Six Months Later is in that club, Book Addicts.
Six Months Later has a good dose of mystery, to the point that everyone seems suspicious. Being fateful to the YA genre, Ms. Richards introduces us strong, brave and determined character who's life changes in the blink of an eye. Literally!
It was pretty scary being in Chloe's point of view at first. Imagine that you wake up and you don't remember anything! And by anything I mean the past six months. Everything has changed and who were your friends are not talking to you, some people you have never spoken to is talking to you a normal thing and what you considered a "perfect life" (boyfriend and academic records) is your life now. Is a mixed feeling. You get a taste of what you wished for. However, we always say: be careful what you wish for!
The characters are simply amazing! I said before, the main character, Chloe, is strong, brave and determined to find out the truth and saving some people in the process. I really admire her. Although I have to confess that the glimpses I got from the "six months life", I didn't her attitude. Glad she wakes up and tries to change that.
Well, Blake is the perfect golden boy. What every mother wants for her daughter. And mommies, sometimes appearances are deluded and deceiving! Yep, pretty much that sentence sums up golden boy. Okay, want my opinion? I didn't the guy. Not before the six months, not during the six months, and, definitely, not after the six months. He gave me the creeps. go away and stalk someone else, you pretty boy! And that's all I'm going to say.
Adam... (*sigh*). He's the bad boy in the story and you know how much I love bad boys with big hearts, right? Adam is all tough on the outside and a sweet boy on the inside that has been in love with Chloe for a long, long time. And just reading the first pages you know that. Don't need for words. I love him. And I think he's perfect for Chloe (Buuuuh Blake!).
He hasn't had a spoiled life, Chloe thought, and has some skeletons in his closet that will be revealed (*insert mystery music here*). However, I how this two find a way to see past all the problems, secrets and troubles, and choose one another instead.
What makes him the perfect bad boy? That he really cares about Chloe and sees her no one else does. When she blurts out a lot of crazy theories and stories, he listens her and not think of her as a crazy person. And because it felt a damn forbidden love!!! And I love impossible things! (I'm stopping right now before I get loose all the good stuff and some major spoiler).
Maggie is a great friend. The type of friend everyone needs to have. Although Chloe said some pretty bad stuff to her, she's loyal to her friendship and helps her. She's sweet, good and always felt safe near Chloe, because If someone made fun of her stuttering, Chloe wouldn't hesitate in throwing a punch to whomever laughed. It's mixing chocolate and vanilla: a sweet girl with a badass one.
The plot was perfect. There's always the constant mystery and suspense and you get even spooked a little, I think there's someone following her! And at some point, everything starts to become more and more dangerous. Thing that only increases your curiosity and you're even more eager to know everything!
In the middle of all this deadly chaos, Natalie finds the perfect moment to insert some well-built romance while writing a credible story that would captivate you. It REALLY captivates you, to the point of not being able to sleep, even when my eyes were closing! I needed to know the truth! And who is the big bad guy! But mostly the truth. And it was a shocking, unexpected and brilliant truth.
I love Six Months Later, because it's one of those stories you won't mind reading a second time even when you know who the bad guy is and what really happened to the main character. And for that, because is really hard to accomplish that feeling in the readers, I am giving five gorjuss ROCK STARS dolls to Six Months Later and I will wait anxiously to more stories written by this talented author. I would give more dolls, but I'm afraid I don't have that many.
Despite my lack of gorjuss dolls, I strongly (shouting level) recommend this book to all of you, Book Addicts, YA fanatics, romance lovers and mystery junkies, and to everyone else. Because this is a must read book. And an incredible one.

I love a good mystery and I also happen to love the YA genre but sadly there just aren't enough mysteries in this genre for whatever reason. For I don't know how long I have been saying that I wish more writers would branch out of the paranormal and into the mystery, because really, the stretch isn't too bad and thankfully someone out there is listening because this year I have noticed a few YA mysteries popping up more and more and I couldn't be more excited about it. Not only are they popping up but a lot of them, this one, are popping up with a lot of fuss and noise so of course the mystery lover in me can't ignore them. I have to check them out to see what all the fuss is about and in this case, I am so glad I did.

I am going to admit something that hopefully doesn't sound bad, I am good at solving mysteries in stories. I almost always know whodunit before the story is over, which is okay, it comes with devouring so many great mysteries when I was younger, but every now and then one will come along that will keep me wondering completely until the end and when that happens I absolutely love it because, let's face it, always knowing the ending (so to speak) isn't always fun. And even though I did guess some of the things going on, I didn't guess them all, not even close.

I still wasn't sure if certain people could be trusted or what, if anything, their role was in what was going on. And that is the other thing, what in the world was going on. Because you knew something was, just not all the details. And oh boy, was it a fun journey finding out!

I loved Chloe. She was stubborn and feisty and not one to be pushed around. I loved how determined she was to find and have all the answers, even if that meant getting hurt along the way.

I don't want to go into too much detail because really this is just one of those reads that you need to experience for yourself without anyone giving anything away.

If you love a good suspense, a good mystery with a dash of romance thrown in, this is a must read.

An alluring and addictive read, with an extremely beguiling mystery at its heart, I really enjoyed this. Chloe has lost time and it seems along with that time she has also lost herself. But why? What on earth could have happened to change so much for her? As she realises that she is alarmed by the popular Blake, when previously she would have given anything for him to notice her and finds that she is strangely attracted to a boy she herself would not have given the time of day to back then, that coupled with other bizarre happenings tells her that perhaps something sinister is going on...

Cleverly written with small but significant doses of information coming in every chapter, I was compelled to follow along with Chloe as she attempts to retrieve her friendships and her own sense of self, as well as work out what set off the amnesia...with some terrific characterisation and a truly imaginative mystery this was a wonderful reading experience.

Highly Recommended for fans of YA,with a touch of romance and a good few thrills and spills thrown in for good measure. I look forward with interest to this authors next novel.

I LOVED this book. For so many reasons. First of all, the writing is just gorgeous. This book is filled with lines this: "I lean closer to the window, but the snow refuses to be anything other than what it is. It falls thickly on the brown grass, clinging to the spindly branches of barren trees." I love it when words roll around my tongue a mouthful of jewels -- and Richards manages to create this sensation without distracting one bit from the story.

Then, there's the suspense. The way Richards tells the story had me glued to the pages. I HAD to find out why, why, why, and I could not put down the book until I found out! Truth be told, I don't really to be scared. And this book is darn creepy. But Richards mixes so much intrigue with the "creep" factor that I didn't even mind the chills running up my spine. From lines , "Boyfriend is my job, not yours," to pillars of the community who suddenly disappear, to psychiatrists who don't tell the truth, I was hooked from beginning to end.

And finally, there are the characters. Funny, irreverent, loving, and real. They're the kind of characters you wish were real so you could hang out with them all afternoon.

Chloe is your typical high school junior. She is feeling the pressure from everyone to improve her grades and prepare for the SAT. Chloe has spend her high school career being best friends with Maggie and crushing on the popular guy Blake.

During study hall Chloe decides to take a quick nap and when she wakes up she realizes that either she slept for six months for something really weird has happened to her! Everything in her life is prefect...or so it seems! She is dating Blake, has great grades and an almost prefect SAT score! The only problem is she has no idea how this has all happened and why is Maggie not talking to her anymore?!

Chloe begins to piece the last six months together with the help of Adam, who she has strong feelings for...what about Blake! So what happened during those six missing months?! Is she in some kind of danger? Is her life really prefect now?! You should definitely read this book to find out! I give it 5 stars!!!

This book gets 4 stars because it is so perfect for High School students. The language, tone, and emphasis are just right for this age, and the subject matter is interesting if not entirely original. It begins as a mystery but includes sub themes of family, friends, and the demands to excel academically in the increasingly competitive atmosphere of college entrance exams.

Un many YA books which turn parents into caricatures or obviate them altogether, this novel portrays realistic relationships between father, mother, and daughter. That was soooo refreshing!

One afternoon during study group Chloe rests her head for a quick cat nap and Bing-Bang-Boom she wakes up with no memory of the last six months. What’s a girl to do? Somehow her SAT scores are through the roof, she’s with a guy who creeps her out, one friend moved states away, and another won’t give her the time of the day. The author poses a lot of questions and answers all of them in a surprisingly effective thriller. The characters were spot on and the motive behind all these memory-burgled shenanigans wasn’t what I expected. First of all I would say this is an absofreakinglutely recommended book!

This is a story about Chloe who was once an average student, the not so popular-invisible one, the kind of student who can only read 2 lines of the text book then will feel sleepy.

She just slept in the study hall and when she woke up everything changed in her life.
She didn't know 6 months had passed already and she's very popular in her school, dating Mr. Perfect Blake and to think this guys is her long time crush. She also discovered that she had new sets of friends and her best friend Maggie was not talking to her anymore.
She didn't have any idea on how did it happen and why she can't remember anything what happened on the past 6 months.

This really got my attention and this is the reason why I read this book. I got hooked and just read it for 1 day.
Maybe some will say that Chloe should have asked help or talk to everyone, told them she can't remember this and that but I understand her and why she just go with the flow and just trying to figure it out on her own. It's so hard on her part actually, who would believe? If she will tell her friends and parents about it they would just think she is crazy just what happened to her friend Julien whom she forgot that they were close because that memory is part of the past 6 months that she can't remember.

Even with no memory of the past 6 months she can feel nothing about her boyfriend Blake, and thinking about love it's Adam the bad guy (on what she remembers). That is sweet, the heart find it's way even the brain didn't remember anything.

I somewhat think that maybe it's just all a dream and in the end Chloe will wake up and she is back to her normal life. But the story goes on and on, Chloe looking for any clue that could help her get answers.
She is actually smart, I think it's the right choice to just go with the flow rather than telling everyone about her memory loss. She just really chose the people whom she can trust. I was thankful she didn't trusted her therapists and Blake.
Blake and the therapist was very obvious actually. It's Adam that I didn't get it right away but when his phone keep buzzing I know something is happening and maybe he's the villain and the reason Chloe will get caught.

The Antagonist didn't play a big role. He is just in the end part, he should have big exposure too. Chloe easily knew it's him. Blake on the other hand had the good acting part but maybe he should have been more aggressive.
So that's it? He was outsmarted by 2 girls and had an accident? Hmmm okay the story is still good. I really it.
I really love that part whenever Chloe touched Adam she will remember some things. It's they really have connection and it was stronger when it was her best friend Maggie and Adam she connected with. That is just so cool. I kinda believe in that one. I mean the connection, it's the heart that worked helping the brain.

Lastly about the main antagonist. The good results of that experiments was really helpful. It had helped them really get good grades and for sure that is for a good future. But how about the disadvantages? I think there are a lot more disadvantages on it. on what happened to Chloe and Julien? Chloe and the others were treated labrats? It's not good. Where is the respect of human in that? No humans should be experimented on anything even if it will have good or bad results!
Chloe had became the hero, the eye opener of those other victims to speak out.
I can't imagine what had happened to Mr Tanner after Chloe injected him that drug. But whatever, he deserves it!

Read an early copy of Six Months Later and loved it! It creeped me out in the best way possible and kept me up late for several nights, turning the pages, until I finished. Chloe, the main character, was amazing and I loved that the story was told through her. Everything is happening so fast to her and it’s we’re right there with her, trying to piece together this puzzle at the same time. She’s brave when she has to be, but her choices are hard and I kept asking myself what I would do in her shoes. And she has this intense connection to Adam, the guy she shouldn’t but is crazy about (and who wouldn’t be—he’s mysterious, and maybe even dangerous, but in an irresistible way!).

I love the way this author writes, too. Especially the way she phrases things--really unique. The story's fast-paced, but not rushed. From the very beginning I was sucked in, mostly because the characters are so real and their choices so hard, I had to know what they'd do next. Chloe and Adam kept me guessing until the end, so I don't want to give too much away. I’d definitely recommend this book to others, though. And I can’t wait for the next book from this author!
