OMG! Victor makes me hot! I can see why Laura is so attracted to him! This story is so compelling I could not put it down! The characters are so captivating, some meaner than a Wolverine, some so cute you just have to smile. Laura is put through the wringer. Fires, kidnapping, forced marriage. I encounter more misses then hits in the mafia subsection of the darker romance genre. Nine times out of ten the author will try to show how strong, sassy & self relent the heroine is, by making her unafraid to speak up and solving her own problems. Unfortunately this usually ends up making our 'star' looking a argumentative bitch, who picks fights and stupidly shrugs of all offers of help, when it's evident that she can't dig herself out of whatever hole she's ultimately found herself in.

I knew that Silken Chains would be more enjoyable then the majority of these genre offerings early on, for the simple reason that I didn't want to throttle Laura. She remains level headed throughout most of the story, and when she does put herself in harms way I can see her reasoning's for doing so.
Victor is far away from being all sweetness and light, but he doesn't come of of as being needlessly bullying or overly aggressive. He actually continues to do everything that he would usually do, even when faced with a out-of-her-depth Laura, questioning family and his own misgivings. Again this is a nice change not to have the author whitewash things, trying to make the unpleasant realities of her world setting more romantic and lovey dovey; to pull a example of similar tactics out of thin air, authors making vampires not actually drink blood is a popular white washing ploy.

The romance between Laura & Victor works; I really become caught up with their mutual attraction, budding romance and their feelings of hopelessness and inevitability, as there doesn't seem to be a way for them to find a happy ending. The development of their feeling towards each other doesn't feel too rushed given the surrounding circumstances, and their chemistry is instantly apparent. All in all, I found Silken Chains to be a breath of fresh air in today's over-saturated romance genre.


In addition to the romance & crime, there is a whole series worth of soap opera twists and turns crammed into one book, so I couldn't begin to guess at what would happen next. I have high hopes for the second half of this story and I can't wait to read it. crime dark-romance thriller1 Becca C.50

Wow! What a great read! I did not want to put this book down after I started reading it. Laura’s scumbag ex husband sold her to the Bratva to cleat his debts after he cleared out all of her accounts. Victor the son of the Pakhan goes to see Laura at the book store she owns and decides to take that offer. These two are super hot together and burn up the sheets, couch and wherever. There is a war coming and a surprise wedding too. This book ends in a cliffhanger but the second book will be out in a couple of weeks. It’s definitely a must read. 1 Linda Stokes500 12

This is the story of Victor and Laura. Victor and Laura have an intense night of sex. Laura’s ex sold her out and to the Russian Bratva to clear his debts. Laura goes through a lot in this book but she seems to handle it well. Victor’s father is the pahkan of the Bratva. Victor finds Laura irresistible and the passion they share will produce an heir? I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This is the first book in the new Morozov Bratva series. The story of Laura and Victor. Victor is about to become the pakhan of is Bratva. In order to do that though his father wants him married. Laura's husband was in deep trouble with the Morozov Bratva and owed them millions. To try to settle the debt, he offers Laura's bookstore as well as Laura himself. Seems the husband was a scam artist and imposter, and Laura didn't know it. She just knows she has had some really bad karma. Her husband left her with all her money, her bookstore burns down and then she learns her husband had not kept up with the insurance payments. To drown her sorrows, she goes out to a club and meets Victor. He knows who she is, but she doesn't know who he is. They have instant chemistry and end up having a steamy night. She leaves thinking she will never see him again. Boy was she wrong, when she learns about the debt she is in shock and from there things happen quickly. Ends in a cliffhanger. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.

5 stars +++ Wonderful Funny, Violent, Bratva Love Story
OMG, Laura is a sad character who has a crappy father, and a more than crappy run-away husband but her humor throughout is awesome. I laughed more than cried. With all the bad stuff that happens to her, you would think she would give up but this lady, while comically talking to herself, just soldiers on. Laura owns and runs her family bookstore in New York. It is her sanctuary; books are her passion until suddenly her store is all gone. Victor Morozov is the heir to the Morozov Bratva and is very serious about the family's business. Morozov Bratva is owed a lot of money by this shady character David, so to keep breathing the little twerp signs over his wife's cute little bookstore along with his wife! Really?? David is a snake! But it’s a good thing because Victor needs a good woman in his life and Laura needs a protector and a good man to love her. I loved Laura and Victor and their connection. They are perfect for each other. I loved this story and can’t wait to see how it concludes. I received an ARC copy of this story, and this is my opinion. Linda

"Silken Chains" is the first half of a bratva duet. While I was excited to read it, I was disappointed after having done so. In my opinion, the theme of the story is good. The recitation, however, left something to be desired.

The characters, for the most part, were not able; not even the two protagonists. At least, I didn't care for them. I especially did not Laura. She was wishy-washy, and that's probably the nicest thing I can say about her. Her sassy attitude soon became irritating. Victor seemed to have an exceptional amount of patience with her, even though he was no angel, either.

Another personal quirk of mine is that when a story features foreign (to Americans) characters, the dialog should reflect the associated accents and/or speech patterns of their native language to make it more authentic. That's missing in this story, unfortunately.

On the plus side, there were very few typos and grammatical errors. Reviewing the list of books by this author on Amazon, it is apparent that she writes a lot of mafia style stories. I hope she'll take my critique to heart and include some things I have mentioned in her future stories. J.p813 2

Oh Mya, I have missed your books so much so I can honestly say I’m giddy with excitement to read this series. Laura and Victor are seriously a scorching couple. She considers herself plain but Victor sees her differently and no matter how much he should not or want her he just can’t help himself. Laura has been unfortunate that her ex is a real piece of work and she has become a pawn in the Bratva mafia. She’s caught up in something dark and dangerous without her knowledge, Victor is her captor and also the man she wants more than anything, he comes across as dark and cold but there’s humanity too and the love he has for his little niece is obvious. Laura is brave and witty( her inner dialogues are hilarious) first book is dark, violent, dangerous and sooo hot. Ends on a cliffhanger, can’t wait to read the next book. Debbie Lyon545

I just love this story ,it's leaving me on the edge of my chair waiting to get to the next book. Laura has such bad luck,she doesn't deserve more but it just falls in her lap even if v she doesn't want it.She goes from a cheating,thieving, lying man who thought was her husband but really wasn't. To a burn out bookstore with no insurance, no money and lots of debt and she can't tell her father,because he doesn't really care.Vitcor comes in the picture and makes a deal with her but she doesn't want to do it,but her best friends lives are at stake,so she sign the papers and now she is Victor's but before they are married, he and Misha run trouble and one or both may not make it to the wedding! They have one steamy night together. Little does she know, one night isn’t enough for him. Victor is all growly and not a gentle man. He wants what he wants and he’s not going to let her get away. I know this book kept me on the edge of my seat. From page one on you were pulled right into the story of Victor and Laura. This was definitely a fast paced novel. Laura definitely has a lot to deal with in life. She meets Victor and they are instant attraction and decide to spend the night together. Well this of course leads to other things down the road. Lots of chemistry, mafia action and a cliffhanger!

Wow, from the beginning to the end it pulls you in. It played a little picture in my mind and wooo I was not disappointed. What starts off as a debt payment quickly becomes something Victor didn’t see coming. Although, growing up, they have been taught to turn off emotions as it shows weakness, but he just can’t seem to stop thinking about Laura.
