Sinopsis

Wally self-identifies as a hippo, and he's courageously rejected the species identity arbitrarily assigned to him at birth by his parents. Now he wants them to pay for a species affirmation surgery, but his cishuman father isn't convinced. Things don't look good for Wally, and his transitional journey appears to be at an end until a lawyer from the NAFPA – the National Association of Feelings and Personal Affirmation – gets involved. He convinces Wally's parents to support Wally in his species transformation.

The good news is that Wally doesn't have to undertake the journey alone. He has a whole group of Furry friends at his side walking the same path with him. There's Kitty Kat the cat, Rover the dog, Andy the rat, and Erica the transsexual kangaroo.

But when a teacher questions their identity, however, he's fired for being transphobic, and protests erupt around the country and all over social media. While these brave heroes face a lot of resistance from transphobic cishumans, they also encounter unexpected resistance from transphobic cis hippos who are reluctant to accept a transhippo into their herd.

Naturally this raises the all-important question on everyone's mind: What exactly is a hippo?

Wally and his friends are not without some powerful allies determined to make sure they reach their goal. Wally eventually actualizes his true species identity, becoming a social media star in the process. But Wally's moment in the sun is soon to be overshadowed by another trans hero, who undertakes a new and innovative transition even more revolutionary than the one he just completed.
