Going Dark, #2 - This story picks up a week after Mission Black ends. It is steady nonstop action, with intense story lines and great characters. Interesting, intriguing, immersing entertainment that makes you frown when the last page is read, you want more. Source: The author. 5*

Mission Black, #1 - Absolutely one of the best books I have read recently in any genre. I was completely mesmerized by the intriguing, intense story lines, the three, actually, four awesome characters if you consider the "Organization" a character, and the continuous pace.

Of course, vigilantism is a favorite theme for me, and having a Catholic priest as a reluctant vigilante makes an interesting formula. Added to the mix, plenty of good humor and two female characters worth their weight in gold. The other characters were a good variety of types. Of course, the darkness of Black's dilemma weighs on him and he works with God to solve his troubles.

Only thing I did not was the lowercased "bible" when The Bible was mentioned while uppercasing god/gods that were not The Good Lord. For you nonbelievers, The Bible is still a title.

There was a bit of British English here and there that brought out a giggle or two. Minimal cursing. If you have read The Old Farts Club by Mr. Williams, or any of his other books in other genres, or David Putnam's Bruno Johnson series, you will definitely enjoy this new series by Mr. Williams. 5* Sherie Miklas58 1 follower

The second book in the Father Black series is as good as the first. Happily, Emmy and Lyndsey have returned along with a few more interesting characters. Father Black had hoped his commitment to Honos had been fulfilled, but they’ve made it clear, it will be fulfilled when they say it’s fulfilled. As he and Emmy work on his latest assignment, his growing team at home scramble to uncover who Honos is and how to take them down.

I love how Williams develops his characters. Even the most despicable have a human side. They love their families and some have children waiting for them to come home. This is what Father Black has to reconcile in his heart, and with God, as he completes his mission. Williams is an amazing writer and I can’t wait for the third installment. Steph Lawrence443
