This is my first proper dystopian book and I'm really glad I gave it a chance! This omnibus complies five other books, making it an in-depth first read. The format threw me off at the beginning, but as I got deeper into the omnibus I was able to better understand the characters. It's a fascinating world and I love being able to explore everything at the same time!

The first section, And The Stars Will Sing, is a collection of letters between Crystal and her friend Sarah as Crystal moves out to the edges of civilized space as a wormhole engineer. We never see Sarah's responses, which I thought was an interesting choice. This book set up Crystal's later romantic conflicts as well, which came to a head for me in the third section.

This was followed by The Stolen, a collection of two short stories that is the second book in the series. It's at this point that we get to meet Sarah. Sarah is now living under a society organized around fanatical worship of a sacred text called the TorYoBiKo. This entire section serves to introduce this belief system as well as its , who continue to influence the story in later sections. VERY dystopian, in my opinion!

By the third section, the narrative has moved into a more traditional space, which I appreciated. It's at this point that I started to get more invested in the characters. The somewhat dissimilar events of the first two books collided for me and I was able to get a better sense of how the world interacts. I was particularly intrigued by the contrast between Crystal's and Sarah's lives at this point.

I won't re-hash all of the sections out of a desire to avoid spoilers, but suffice to say that this universe is fascinating! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a dystopian read that's ready to get invested.2 s Rachel Ashera RosenAuthor 3 books47

I've reviewed each individual instalment here, so I don't have tons to add, only that 1) this series is wonderful, and 2) they're all very quick, gripping reads, so it's cool to have them all collected conveniently in one volume.2 s Teresa GarciaAuthor 34 books36
