This is a nice collection of snapshots and impressions of a varied group of men in BDSM relationships that are as different as the individuals concerned. Their preferences range from the very kinky to hardcore submission, and their situations from first meetings to existing couples and tearful reunions. Some of these I had read before, and it was great to get to read them again, and a few were new to me. All of them are hot, focus on the men’s different relationships, and if you’re looking for a “BDSM sampler”, this collection might be a good introduction.

Playing for Keeps
Beginning with a bang, this first story is about a very pushy bottom who needs his Top to reign him in occasionally. As soon as Kody is in Sam’s hands, he can stop worrying about the rest of his life and focus on the sensations Sam makes him feel. From a spanking to more, these men know what they want and though their play seems harsh at first, it is clearly something they both enjoy.

The Twelve Kinks of Christmas
This one is very hot! Two friends who secretly lust after each other finally realize what’s going on after Kit sends a series of naughty photographs to Jasper, one for each of the 12 Days of Christmas. The reality, once Kit admits to being the photographer, is even hotter than the pictures, and I suspect these guys will find a million more excuses to play with all the interesting toys Kit has in his repertoire.

Payday
This story is a bit rougher, as a demon is in charge when he comes to collect his three days of servitude from the two men who have signed an agreement with him. He makes them rich and famous and they become his playthings once a month. Very hot indeed – with Mark who is more obedient, and Alan who pushes the limits to get the punishments he craves but cannot ask for directly. And while there is no happy ever after here, even the demon (who has similar deals with many men) does not remain unaffected…

Following My Heart
This story is probably the harshest of them all, with Jimmy wanting Scotty to submit completely to his will. The idea of letting Jimmy shave him – everywhere – as a sign of ownership has Scotty scared shitless, and I can’t say I blame him. While I cannot imagine letting someone do that to me (we’re talking including the eyebrows here!), Scotty needs Jimmy too much to stay away, and Jimmy is too in love not to want to make sure everyone knows Scotty “belongs” to him. At the more extreme end of the submission spectrum, these two men clearly love each other to distraction and that was beautiful to watch.

Finding Kasey
Out of the five stories in this collection, this is probably the lightest one. More sexy and kinky than BDSM-y, it focuses on the first meeting of a man looking for a partner for a lay and maybe more. This could just be a casual encounter, but Curt makes it very clear he wants more. The men are very compatible, and if it weren’t for Kasey’s hesitant attitude, they’d probably commit to each other straight away. As it is, I can well imagine Curt putting forth a few more great efforts to make Kasey see they’ll be good for each other. With chemistry theirs, I have no doubts they’ll manage to do a lot more than hook up within a few weeks.

Despite everything I will say in my review below, I’m hard pressed to improve on the official description of this book which really does tell you all you need to know:

“From first timers to hard core lovers, this collection of five BDSM themed short stories by Sean Michael has something for everyone who loves hot m/m action and a great love story."

‘Yes, Master’ is a collection of five short stories all of which deal with BDSM in some way, shape or form; from barely there D/s (Finding Kasey) to all out possession (Following My Heart) and everything in between. We are treated to a bratty, provocative sub (Playing for Keeps), a dream come true for two men who have been friends for years (The Twelve Kinks of Christmas) as well as a supernatural encounter between a demon and the two men who struck a deal with him (Payday).

All five stories are hot and very descriptive when it comes to the sexual action between the men involved. Yet all five stories at the same time ooze love, commitment as well as fun. I was squirming while reading these stories, found myself smiling at the interactions between the characters and got mildly emotional at the obvious love (either well established, recently discovered or just a possibility).

If I had to pick favourites between these five stories my choice would be ‘The Twelve Kings of Christmas’ – just for the idea behind the story and the sheer delight the characters experience when they discover their mutual attraction - and ‘Following My Heart’ – for the heady combination of fear and need. And if there was one story that did less for me than the others it was ‘Payday’. Having said that, there was so little to separate these stories when it came to the enjoyment they gave me that I decided not to review and rate them individually – as I have been known to do with collections this – and instead treat the book as one whole.

I am kind of impressed with these stories. None of them are very long yet all of them managed to give me a clear impression of the characters as well as a good idea of the situation they find themselves in and their feelings. While all of these stories focus on the sexual aspect of the relationships between these men there is never any doubt that the story is about more than just the physical attraction between them. What impressed me most is the fact that while I would have loved to read more about most if not all characters and relationships in this collection I didn’t feel that I had missed out on anything when the story ended. These are self-contained stories with a beginning, middle and end. At no point did I have the feeling that I was missing information or that the story had been rushed. Since these are my pet peeves when it comes to shorter fiction I was very pleasantly surprised.

I read one previous book by Sean Michael and wasn’t as impressed with that book as I was with this collection. I’m so glad I didn’t allow that earlier experience to put me off reading more by this author. I would not have wanted to miss out on this book and look forward to reading more by Sean Michael in the not too distant future.

I had to re-read the author with this one because it doesn't read a Sean Michael book...That's not a bad observation believe me....As soon as one mc called the other honey i knew it was his book......I loved all the stories in this collection and read in less than a day.......Just couldn't stop reading...My favourite had to be Jasper receiving his twelve days of xmas kinky photo's......An absolute must read and all nicely kinky xbdsm favourites male-male Katy Beth Mckee4,185 52
