When Carson and his team set down on the planet, they find the place in ruins. The radio tower has collapsed, the research station ripped open, the surviving staff in hiding.
As seismic activity shakes the side of the planet, the truth reveals itself. A pack of giant alien crustaceans, led by the gargantuan Caesar, storm the island. Following a devastating attack, the marines take defensive position in the remains of the station.
With their numbers depleted, their dropship destroyed, and no means of radioing for help, they are left with no choice but to fight Caesar and his pack of killer crabs...M.F

Good sci-fi/monster novel
Great action and very good story telling. Very engaging and well fleshed out characters. The few spelling errors that somehow made it through the editing process are distracting, but don't hurt the story too much. I'd respectfully suggest a through edit and re-release, but that's just me. A good read. Trevor1,258 2
After a costly mistake and the end of deployment rotation, Corporal Richard Carson is in cryosleep on the way home to face the consequences. After a distress call causes him and his team to be woken, they soon find themselves on a planet breaking apart, with some interesting sea life. Good story that moves at a nice pace, with some interesting solutions. S.David Long117 6
It Really Bites
A very interesting plot with good character development. Some of the action might be a little graphic for some . Overall, this is the best "crab" type book
I've read to date. I would highly recommend it.

Different type of monster book
This is was a different type of monster book. The humans had to really modify because their weapons did not work. They used other monsters against each other so it was unique and difficult when tech doesnt work as well. Chance835 12
this is now my least fav Cole novel
Space Is dangerous and the lack of redundancy of a future space exp-planet station was shown has there was only one raft, one commication relay on a water world. The story was a bad blend of Starship Troopers and The Deep. mark capo5
