One Night with the Shifter by Theres Meyers is a February 2014 Harlequin Nocturne publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the author in conjunction with a book tour in exchange for an honest review.
Jessica Brierly is a school teacher that goes out for a good time one evening and meets Tyree Grayson. One night was all Jessica wanted, but Ty feels a connection with Jessica. Jessica is shocked to learn she is pregnant. She sets out to find Ty and let him know he is going to be father.
Ty is a wolf shapeshifter out on his own trying to build his own pack. When a rogue group of vampires kills some of his training crew and nearly kills Jessica's brother who thinks he is in a survivalist camp, Ty must join forces with other vampires to find this sub- species of vampires before they do more damage.
Jessica has no clue Ty is a shifter, and finds herself embroiled in his battle with the rogue vampires and could be a target herself. When she learns his true nature will she still want him to be in her life and father to her unborn child? Will she be able to accept him for who and what he is? Could she ever adjust to this alternate world she knew nothing of before meeting Ty? What about her career?
This short easy read is tense race against time and a steamy romance with a strong family base as Jessica's brothers excercise their protective natures in trying to save her reputation and from keeping her heart from being broken. But, will thier interference cause more harm than good? I read this book all in one sitting. It is very entertaining and imaginative. If you enjoy paranormal romance with shifters you will enjoy this one!

It was supposed to be a one night stand, that is all Jessica Brierly was looking for. When she carefully selected Tyee Grayson, she felt something that she found intoxicating about the mysterious man. However after a passionate bout, her brothers interfered and he left. Now Jess has to seek Tyee out to let him know he is gong to be a father.
Tyee knew that Jess was his mate, however she was a human. Normally werewolf's don't mix with the human population, however he couldn't help but hope she would seek him out. Tyee has dealt with leaving his pack and becoming a lone wolf making his own pack and beginning again, but when a vampire threat comes to town, his only mission is to keep Jess safe.

There is definite chemistry between Tyee and Jess, it starts from the beginning. I thought this was a riveting read, the vampires that help Tyee are fascinating especially Crawford. would love to read his story in the future. I d that Jess had her brothers who create a bit of drama with Tyee, but they are also sweet sweet in a completely different way. Great read!

I loved this book! This is the first Harlequin Nocturne book I have read and it was great! Cannot wait to read more!1 Diane Lynch Lynch1,773 45

Exiled werewolf, Tyee Grayson, is beginning a fresh life for himself as he develops his new pack. He unexpectedly comes across his mate while waiting to meet some friends out at the local bar.

Jessica Brierly sets out to have a one-night stand with the hot guy she meets at the local bar. The night leaves her pregnant and opens her eyes to a world of vampires and werewolves she did not know existed.

When I began to read this book, I had no idea it was part of a series. Once I started reading it; I had a feeling, there was more to the story and that there were prior books I am going to want to read because there are aspects of the story that seem intriguing. I later did an Internet search and discovered that One Night with the Shifter is book four in the Sons of Midnight Series and book 178 in the Harlequin Nocturne Series.

That being said, Theresa Meyers did a great job recapping the previous books because I had no problem following the story. Although I do have to admit that typically I have a tendency to enjoy books more the farther I read into a series because I become additionally invested in the characters as I discover more about them. So I wonder if I would have even more enjoyed the book had I read them in order. Additionally, I really Tyee’s character, and I am curious what I would have thought about him in the prior books from someone else’s viewpoint. Guess I’ll have to read the previous books to find out.

I really d the story, there are definitely unique aspects to it. I Jessica’s alpha female personality, and that she wouldn’t let her older brothers intimidate her. In addition, I appreciate that the vampires in this series have different characteristics then your typical vampires.

People that enjoy vampire and werewolf paranormal books would most ly One Night With the Shifter. It has an interesting plot with able characters and is well written.

One Night with the Shifter was a fantastic paranormal romance. This book was just lovely and I really enjoyed reading it.

Jess was a good heroine. She was tougher than she appears, taking on a world of werewolves and vampires and refusing to let anyone rule her. I thought she was lovely and I d her.

Ty was also wonderful. He was very sweet and very protective of those he loved. I really d him, as well.

The romance was both sweet and hot. Jess and Ty had a ton of chemistry and it got hot. They were also rather sweet together, despite their shaky start. I thought they were lovely together.

The plot was fast paced and I was kept interested the entire way through. There were some twists that I never saw coming. I really enjoyed the story and the ending, though a bit rushed, was good.

One Night with the Shifter was a wonderful paranormal romance. It was thrilling, romantic, and enjoyable. Romance lovers, this is a book worth checking out.

This was a quick fast read. I d Ty though for the most part Jess didn't do anything for me. She wasn't really smart, though she is supposed to be. I found she moved from one emotion to the next too quickly, her list of pros and cons were stupid and superficial and I just didn't warm to her. Ty, on the other hand, was well developed. I enjoyed reading about him. I did think though that the brothers were all cardboard cutouts. Meyers made them look different and gave them different jobs and scents merely to set them apart. It was cleverly done, but in the end, they just didn't become people to me. Maybe Riley a bit, not definitely not the other three.contemporary-romance pagan-new-age paranormal ...more1 Delia235 11

I have to say I always enjoy Theresa Meyers romances. Be they shifter, steam punk or just your hot hero. This book was no different. It also has the added benefit of giving readers some answers to questions left from a previous book, which is always nice. Ty is trying to start his life over and Jessica is just out for a good time, or at least she thinks. But of course spending the night with a shifter alters her life. Exciting with some truly hot scenes this is excellent way to spend an afternoon!1 Harlequin Books17.1k 2,749 Read

"One Night with the Shifter is action-packed from start to finish, and full of sparks between Jess and Ty. Myers does a great job of developing the relationship between the two, and of depicting Jess' overprotcetive brothers." RT Book Reviews, rated 4 stars2014-17 past_series-imprints1 Angel841 20

When I started reading this book I had such high hopes because it started out so good.. I was this is only going to get better!
but, Alas, I was wrong!

I don't know where exactly the tone of this book changed but it took a dive to the worst way too fast!

The thing that bothered me the most was the heroine .. she was trying to come off as a badass, strong female but she was actually a hot-headed,stubborn and stupid f*cking mess!
I HATED her!

I d the hero, but thought he deserved waaaaaaaaaaaay better ..
a better mate.
a better life.
and definitely a better story!

At first I d the overprotective brothers -because that's just my thing- but now not so much, 'cause they turned out to be just as much of assholes as their sister ... except Riley, him I loved.

All in all, this book started out to be a 4 star book then took a dive to 2 stars, maybe even a 1.5 because by the last 25% I just wanted it to be over, and I just didn't it.one-night-with-consequences paranormal-romance pregnancy ...more Julie Oldham157

I wasn't sure if I would take to Tyee story after the last book but ended up loving it .nocturne J3,135 20

This was an interesting read for me while in the beginning I couldn't quite understand whether I was going to be able to get into the book. Another romance, another few things pulling out and since of the vampires/werewolves it feels it repeated. My definite first take of the book itself was that the writer literally combined the writings of Christine Feehan along with the Twilight series to come up with the book but it does better after the slowness.

The characters weren't truly built up enough for me and I don't know if that was since this was one of a book within a series. There were parts where their personalities shone through and then I said felt I was re-living a more mature aspect of Twilight all over again.

Basically the only reason that I ended up giving this book 4 stars instead of the 3 stars that Twilight encourages within me is the fact that there were parts that had me cheering, giggling and booing. Again Twilight in a sense has grown up and is more oriented around Weres in this particular book. Any book that has my emotions going will usually get another star since it allows you to relate while immersing yourself.

Lots and lots of action, lots of vampires and a few werewolves. I'd have preferred more werewolves and fewer vampires and a little more actual emotional content. Things were a bit too magically resolved for me. It's a decent adventure story, even coming at the end of a series I haven't read. The plot wasn't too complicated by all the extra people or backstory. The werewolf hero meeting his mate story was at the heart of it all. Then a big battle with old enemies and allies.adventure e-book library-book ...more Julianna1,971 12
