Sinopsis

The story begins where the trail went cold.

The second season of Maisy Farley's true crime podcast takes her to Dead Man's Hollow, an expansive conservation area just outside Pittsburgh, to investigate a cold case.

In 1994, a sixteen-year-old girl vanished from a party in the woods. Heather Ryan has never been found, and no suspect has ever been arrested.

As the thirtieth anniversary of the girl's disappearance approaches, Maisy is determined to uncover the truth about what happened to her. The teenagers with Heather that night, now middle-aged parents, remain tight-lipped about the events in the hollow. The few details that do emerge are dark, disturbing, and not entirely trustworthy. And someone will stop at nothing to keep the long-buried truth hidden.

Dead Man's Hollow is the second book in the Maisy Farley series by USA Today bestselling author Melissa F. Miller.

Get ready to be held captive by the words on the pages of this story. As Maisy and Jordana dig into this new season, they will capture the imagination of readers from the very beginning. The author continues to prove why her books are hard to put down once you start reading. The plot is magnificent with all its twists and turns giving way to lots of surprises. Her depiction of the characters is vivid and will bring them to life in the reader’s imagination. You will not want to miss getting your copy so you can enjoy it more than once.2 s Anna Dunlap273 2

I love this 2nd book of Maisy’s series. In this one, Maisy and Jordana tackle a 30 yr old ”cold case” involving the disappearance of a high school student after an underage drinking party in Dead Man’s Hollow. I how the author alternates the chapters with transcripts from the podcast, giving it a real time feel. Both Sasha and Bodhi make appearances in this one reminding us Melissa F Miller fans of why we love all these series and characters so much!1 suze joyce761 11

LOVE this series. Melissa reals you in and keeps you guessing until the end. A sister goes missing never to be found and then thirty years later, three sisters enlist Maisey Farley to find out what happened, using her podcast to get clues. Many twists and unexpected turns. OMG so good.melissa-f-miller1 Linda Zelinsky1,143

This was a very interesting read with suspense running through the whole book. Melissa keeps her readers hooked throughout the entire book. A great book.1 Susan435 20

I thought the first Maisy Farley book was excellent but this book surpasses that. Seriously, no exaggeration. This book starts with three sisters trying to find out what happened to the third oldest sister after she disappeared from a bonfire thirty years ago. Naturally they approach Maisy to see if she can help after her tremendously successful first season of her broadcast. Naturally, Maisy and Jordana say yes.

You would think this case would have cooperation from the people at the bonfire. Nope. Then the storyline takes such a twisty route to the final conclusion of the book it left me exhausted. Ms. Miller does such a great job laying clues in her plotline that seem to come out of leftfield yet she ties them up in such a spectacular way at the end that looking back it all makes sense. I look forward to rereading this ebook with the Audible. Now that should be a very enjoyable experience.

It was also nice to be able to learn more about Jordan's family dynamics. I especially loved the way Sasha dealt with the drama. No spoiler alerts here just something to look for when you read this book.

My only complaint about the book was the fact that Jake, the owner of Maisy favorite coffee place, only got one mention. I was looking forward to a possible romance after all the flirting in the previous books, including Sasha's series.

Naturally, I highly recommend this book as well as the rest of the books by Ms. Miller.

I received an ARC of this ebook. My review is voluntary and honest.

UPDATE: Just realized that there isn't an Audible. So sad.1 Becky Wells48

Quick Fun Easy Read

Bias: Melissa F. Miller is one of my favorite writers. I can't imagine ever NOT liking a book she's written. This second book in the new Maisy Farley Series is no exception. In the Miller Universe, Maisy is a former TV news anchor who gave up that career in wont of being taken seriously as an investigative reporter. In the fallout she wins an exceptional lawsuit against her former employers and begins her own investigative reporting podcast. Dead Man's Hollow is the story surrounding her second podcast series: the mystery of a high school girl who went missing in the 1990s. All the familiar characters are there, which is one of the things that is best about Miller's writing. Most of her series have crossover stories and characters, making for a larger universe that creates wider story arcs. (In fact, I always suggest that people read Miller's books in publication order rather than grouped by series to follow the growing storyline and avoid spoilers.) All that being said, this particular story is a bit simplistic and predictable, but not in an off-putting way. The characters are so well written, it's enjoyable and interesting to see how things play out. Aside: I predicted the Maisy Farley Series before it started, and while it may not continue as strongly as other series in the Miller universe, I'm putting this out there: Could there be a Jenna series lurking in the back of Miller's mind? :-) Avid reader Di141 1 follower

This is the second book in the Maisey Farley series. It had me riveted right from the start. Maisey and Jordana have really developed into a true podcast team. I really found the format easy to follow with the actual podcast in Italic text.
The story was believable and the characters are interesting and well developed. Melissa found a way to have Sasha, and Bodhi drop in since they are Maisey’s friends. The connection to Quebec City was intriguing along with the memory loss of one of the key characters. Melissa really does her research. There was reference to an NFL football routine tackle, I actually watched that game and the player almost died from a punch to the chest. The plot and supporting details all fit to make a great story which I could not put down. You will have to read this book to get more details of the characters and the plot. I am not going to spoil it for you by providing a summary. This book is certainly a winner. I received an advanced reader copy and I am freely leaving this book1 Teresa Collins891 14

As the old saying goes, hold onto your seats, it's going to be a bumpy ride. Well in Dead Man's Hollow Ms Miller delivers a bumpy ride in spades. There is heartbreak, anger, deception, manipulation, and downright meanness all wrapped up in a story you won't be able to put down. The revelations are unexpected and, at times, take this reader's breath away. Ms. Miller has wonderfully portrayed the depth of family love and unity in the face of apparent insurmountable odds. Don't be surprised if you find yourself wiping away tears once or twice before you turn the last page.
Once again, Maisy and Jordana prove they are an unbeatable team and care very much for the people they have come to know through their investigation. Bad guys beware. If Maisy and Jordana are on your trail you might as well give up.
I highly recommend this series and can't wait to see what type of investigation Maisy and Jordana tackle next. I received a review copy from the author at my request and this review is my honest opinion., Cliff108 2

Whew!! What ride.
Second in the Maisy Farley series Dead Man’s Hollow is yet another winner by Melissa F. Miller.
After Maisy left television, she teamed up with Jordana who worked with a long time character in the author’s long series of novels.
Jordana is the producer is the podcast called Farley’s Files. In book 1 they solved a case dealing with the manner of a death.
After getting a tip while searching for a new topic the start the new podcast dealing with decades long disappearance of Heather from Dead Man’s Hollow.
The novel and podcast text are shown at the same time as the investigation progresses. Easy to follow and get absorbed into.
You will want to speed up the deeper you get into the story.
I would to thank the author for an arc for review. Stephanie Herron587 6

As Maisy and Jordana try to figure out what season 2 of their podcast will be about, they come upon a cold case that still haunts the family. As they begin searching into what happened to Heather after a bonfire at Dead Man's Hollow, Maisy and Jordana find many secrets and lies that have been held for years. As they dig into them, the sisters Diana, Amy and Kristy find they didn't know Heather as well as they thought. While you figure out how it all fits together early in the story, there are surprises along the way that keep you reading. Characters from the authors other series help solve the mystery and it's nice to see how they are all connected. 1 Betsy128 1 follower

Great 2nd novel in the Maisy series. Really enjoying the idea of using crime podcasts to work through unsolved cold cases. Maisy and Jordana are an excellent team who are able to present the facts of the case of the disappearance of a teenager 30 years ago and skillfully interweave them with the characters and events of the time. Can they actually solve this cold case? Also enjoy how tyhe author brings in Sasha and Bodhi from Book 1 to assist Maisy and Jordana to put together what is needed. I loved the twists and turns of the mystery and how the author successfully brings everything to a conclusion at the end. Looking forward to Book 3 in the series.

Maisy Farley does it again

When Maisy and Jordana are searching for the next subject for The Farley Files podcast, they get an email for a cold case that happened thirty years ago. The family needs to find out what happened to their sister in order to close their parents' estate and to ease their minds about what happened to their sister. What happens is what happens when secrets are kept for thirty years. The twists are very interesting. I thought this was a really good book. I'm certainly looking forward to Maisy's next podcast. Plan to stay up late reading about Maisy’s latest podcast. Imagine having a family member disappear 30 years ago and having no closure. Heather’s sisters finally decide they are willing to go so far as to try a podcast to see if they can get any closure.

You’ll be blown away by how and when small bits of information come together to bring about an explosive ending.

This second book in the Maisy Farley is an exciting mystery that draws the reader in from the beginning. I love how Melissa Miller layers clue upon clue drawing the reader in deeper and deeper and become fully invested in finding the outcome. There are lots of opportunities to guess the ending, but the reader is compelled to read until the end to find out how much they guessed is true. A truly engrossing book! Susan Grundy9

This story is well worth reading. Events happened a long time ago, a missing sister, not forgotten by her family and the persistent help by a podcaster, they eventually learn what took place 30 years ago.1 Sammye2,788 15
