The President’s troubles increase when a mistress comes forward claiming to be carrying his child, his wife sues for divorce, and the dictator of Venezuela invades neighboring countries to control their oil, and threatens the U.S. with an attack of donated North Korean nuclear missiles if the U.S. tries to intervene. I recieved an arc copy of this book for free from inked rainbow reads for an honest review of it. When I started it I was real skeptical if I was going to enjoy it or not. And honestly it took at least the first two chapters for me to really get into the book. The first two chapters are basically a background of all of the many chapters in this book. It is not a book that revolves around just one character but instead it is book that revolves around numerous characters and to be honest I do think that it would have flowed with the ease that it did without each and everyone of the characters that are in it. After the first two or so chapters, that is when Jon McDonald really let loose and the story just seemed to roll off the pages.

If I had to describe this book I would say that it is a book that is about a corrupt President, a team of people that work for the president that does not offer him hardly any good advice but instead they play into his crazy schemes and make him even worse as a president. But that is not all as far as describing this book..... It is also about a woman who wants revenge and decided to take matters into her own hands. It is a book about a murdering Ceo of an oil company because let's just be honest.... He is crazy any way you look at it. Then you throw the son of the president who does whatever is necessary to try and right the wrongs of his father even if it means throwing the father under the bus. Not to mention the ex wife of the president who can make you laugh at any given point but is also an all around wonderful person and mother and a daughter of the president who is just clueless that is until she is not and you have a book that is just impossible to put down. And that is not even half of the characters in the book.

I would definitely recommend those that a book with mystery, murder, corruption, sinister plans, heart break, revenge, and even happy endings... Then this is the book for you. I truly enjoyed this read and I believe that many others will also.

Great work on never letting anyone figure out what was coming next or who is was going to happen to or where. Jon McDonald did an amazing job with this book especially with everything that was going on it. It flowed well and there is always something exciting happening. Linda Cassidy1 review

Not what you would ordinarily expect from a political thriller. I normally do not read Political Thrillers preferring more lighhthearted reading I thought I would give this one ago. When I first started the book the opening throw me for a bit of a loop but it all made sense as the story unfolded. Do not judge the book by the beginning. I loved anticipating what was going to happen to these characters and how they would interact with each other. The book never seemed to have any true heros but rather showed how each and everyone of us has the ability to be good while still contemplating the not so positive actions we all wish to take at times. Filled with twists, turns, and surprises, Once I got started I could not wait to finish the book, I really wanted to see how the characters would not only interact with each other but ultimately how would they each end up. I was slightly disappointed with the ending but overall I would recommend giving this one a shoot. Sheri Mann6

Not your typical political thriller. While all the elements for a good political tale are there, they are assembled in a fresh and playful way. It’s McDonald is taking the usual formula and turning it on its head. Though it is careful getting started, it is totally appropriate to set up the characters and situations necessary for the story to unfold. I loved anticipating what was going to happen to these characters. One thing I really d was that most of the characters have both good and bad qualities. Even the villains had some endearing sides. Filled with twists, turns, and surprises, I couldn’t put the book down. And political junkies should get a hoot from this as well, as there is a great deal of humor and tongue-in-cheek observations of our crazy modern world. And I just loved the mother.

While the beginning seemed a little slow, it was really necessary to introduce the characters and the scenarios that created the plot. There were many twists and turns that kept me wanting to keep reading (no matter how late it was!). One of the things that I enjoyed is that many of the characters were good & bad. There were some clear cut "bad guys" but most of them had positive and negative traits in their personalities and actions. It makes for a much more interesting story! Overall, I really enjoyed this book and will look for more by this author. Betty Renn7

Not generally a big fan of political thrillers, but having read McDonald’s other work decided to give it a try. Well, it certainly didn’t disappoint. What made it work for me was the humor. Didn’t expect that in this kind of book. But it really kept my interest throughout with lots of twists and turns and fun surprises. Great characters and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. brenda hathaway11

Politics, big oil, drama, intrigue and sex...

All this and more, along with wicked tongue-in-cheek humor combine to make this a fun roller coaster of a read. The main characters are believable and lovable, the dialogue crisp and at times hysterical, and the action ping-pongs back and forth between the northern and southern hemispheres. I highly recommend it. Lynda Kern1 review

Good story poorly written

Perhaps I am too critical when it comes to grammar, punctuation and proof reading as I am enjoying a good story, but when a person calls himself an author he should be adept with the tools of his trade. I plan on reading more books by this author, as he seems to have a knack for spinning a good story.

I enjoyed the book. I think I belong to the wrong political party, but it still grabbed my attention.
I would recommend this book to some of my friends who political thrillers.
