This was my first introduction to Charles Martin’s work and it was nothing I could have expected or anticipated. Brilliant! April174 4

This is a rougher world than I usually read about, and the prominent cult aspect is kind of shocking. But Charles is wildly imaginative and has crafted some incredible characters. Noah Hannon29 1 follower

It was fine, but really just not worth reading. Craig GabryschAuthor 5 books1 follower

Traded with the author, Charles Martin, one of my own books for this one.

First, to refer to another review on here: Yes - the layout is not the greatest and there ARE some typos. Personally, I do typesetting for books, so I'm a real stickler when it comes to attractiveness of layout. For the first 20 pages or so, it distracted the hell out of me.

That said, I did really enjoy the book. I thought that Martin did a wonderful job weaving the multiple point of views and writing styles together. The first 30 pages were a little slow going for me, but, once the story picked up the pace, I became thoroughly engrossed.

If you're looking for an interesting take on cults/small group politics/conspiracy theories, you would probably enjoy The Dominant Hand. Alyn G312 18

Picked this up for free at SIBA 2008 on a recommendation from one of the exhibitors.

A pretty good read, fast-paced and reminiscent of Palahniuk's plot lines, only I don't Palahniuk and I did enjoy Martin. Think Hornby meets Palahniuk and the two take peyote in a forest together, and you have The Dominant Hand.

I wish this book were available in a better quality, as my copy is not very well produced and contains several grammatical errors along with a Microsoft Word-esque header on each page.

Yet these pitfalls did not distract from the story, and I finished it all quickly, glad I'd taken the vendor's recommendation. advanced-reading-copies Chris Germain1 review2

Definitely worth the time to read. Think of a bunch of different people telling their point of view of the same story. Takes you through a series of events that make you think you were there the whole time. Kimberly Kieffer85

Very entertaining work of fantasy. I did not come away with any unanswered philosophical questions or considerings. I did enjoy very much the humor and relative suspense. I will recommend this work. Charles MartinAuthor 21 books18 Read
