Sinopsis

The old world is gone forever.
The Great Cataclysm has left the planet on its knees, and over 2 billion people are dead. Now the dust has settled, and all of mankind's greatest achievements lay in ruins, from the modern metropolis of New York to the grand old cities of London and Paris and the ancient pyramids of Egypt - everything is destroyed.
EARTH IS UNDERGOING A GRAND RESET
With nature holding sway over the fate of the world, the survivors strive to overcome the catastrophe that has broken their lives and threatens the very existence of the human race.
Scott Cook and his companions have somehow endured, but at a cost. Seemingly stranded, they unexpectedly find themselves presented with a choice: remain where they are and risk dying from hunger and disease, or join a group of young people on a dangerous odyssey across a mysterious land.
In America, Kenny Leland is saved from certain death, only to find himself accompanying a mad president hell-bent on a perilous mission.
And beneath the mountains and glaciers of Switzerland, scientists in a top-secret subterranean laboratory take desperate measures to prevent the world from falling into the abyss as a new threat emerges.

The final book in this great series ended well but I was very sad it had to end at all. I am going to miss Stone and Dehan very much.

Curtain Call is exactly that - one last bow before the show really ends. The happy duo have one final cold case to solve before they start their new life in a safer career and with a new baby. The case itself was entertaining although I guessed the culprit right at the beginning and could not for the life of me understand why Stone did not see it too. I think I read too many books from this genre!

There is a dramatic ending with a reminder to us why they feel the need to leave the police force at this stage of their lives. There is no happy ever after epilogue - we have to use our own imaginations. I can do that. Five stars for a fantastic series. Thank you Mr. Banner.49 s8 comments Elizabeth Carman2

I started this series a couple of months ago and read it practically non-stop until the final book of the series. I love the author's writing style and his ability to create mysteries that are complex and never the same from book to book. I am sad that this series is over because I became attached to the main characters. Since I read most of the books one after another, I have to praise the author for no obvious - at least to me - continuity issues. I often read books in series one after another and of course will do so when I reread a series that I love this one. And there is nothing more jarring than something stupid changing in the fourth book the name of a favorite horse (from another series, of course). Luckily this author is very prolific and has at least two other series in progress and yes, I am in the midst of two of his other series. If you love a good mystery, good cops, and good writing Blake Banner and the Dead Cold Mystery Series is for you.1 Mike Arcari38

30 Books I recommend to all lovers of a good mystery

Never in my wildest dreams would I have read 30 novels about 2 witty, loving, dangerous, logical, engaging characters Stone and Dehan. Laughter at the humorous one liners, the corny but funny dad jokes, but the pinnacle attraction to these wonderful novels is the twists, turns and bewildering conclusions reached by the intrepid duo. It’s a sad day in my reading world to know that there aren’t any more DEAD COLD CASE thrillers for me to read. A very sad day indeed! Chrystal Evans229 1 follower

Unpopular opinion but I thought this book was average at best. The last book was much better in my opinion and I wish that one ended the series and then there was a look into future Stone and Dehan instead. I picked the ending pretty much straight away and from there it got confused and and convoluted for no real reason. It didn't as to the mystic of the story line and Stone was pretty much a man ape and condescending at the ending. Dehan became some disposable handbag and everyone only appreciated her for her looks. Stupid and annoying. Dawn Viertlbeck35

GREAT SERIES

I'VE READ ALL 20 BOOKS IN THE SERIES AND LOVED THEM ALL, BUT NOT THIS LAST ONE. I DON'T LIKE THE WAY IT ENDS. I'M SURE IT WASN'T EASY TO WRAP UP THE SERIES. BUT I HATED THE ENDING!
I'D LOVE TO READ A CHAPTER OR AN EPILOG ABOUT THEIR LIFE OF RETIREMENT AND THE BABY. IS IT A BOY OR A GIRL? TWINS? NO CLUE.
THAT MAKES ME SAD.
I DO RECOMMEND THIS SERIES. WELL, ALL BUT THE END. Kathy Maloney1 review1 follower

Great books!

I read these 30 Dead Cold books in just a short period of time. As soon as I finished one, I would start reading the next instantly! They had me hooked! I loved the characters, the twisted stories, and most of all the fact that Stone and Dehan were a great team! I would think I had it figured out who the killer was but then a twist had me shaking my head! They were great-enjoy them! María Mónica Beltrami211 2

A wonderful, lovely "The End".

I'm really happy that Blake Banner decided to finish the Dehan/Stone saga.
When I read #29 novel I felt that something was lost, as a final book of the series.
Now, I'm happy. It's a real Curtain Call for the protagonists to make their bows to the readers/public.
I think I'll begin to read again the saga from #1 to #30.
THANK YOU MR, BANNER.
(I have also other series in the cloud to download and re-read.) Sharon Gable72

I loved the series but was disappointed at the ending. I was wanting a fast-forward to when the baby was born. I wanted to know if it was a girl or boy and its name and a vision of what their new life looked . The final mystery they solved was interesting, guessed the murderer at about one third in. All 30 of the books were very good and I thank Blake Banner for writing them all. He is a great writer with lots of imagination. Will miss Dead Cold Mysteries! Fred Kilp21

I read all 30 books in there series and loved them all. Banner’s complex plots, interesting characters, and banter between Stone and Dehan made them all a fun and intelligent ride. I think the last installment lends itself to one more revisit to their lives post baby birth. I’m not at all disappointed in this one as some are. But, I am disappointed that there won’t be more. The books have been a staple in my favorite mystery reading for awhile and I will miss Stone and Dehan. I haven’t found another detective duo I a much with the wit and depth of story development. Truly love this series.

I am so disappointed that this is the end of the road in this series. Reading all 30 books I have never been tired of the characters or the style of writing. I am so sad that this is the end and there will be no more. I love the interaction between the two and how they solved their cases. Maybe someday there will be one more book.five-star ku mysteries Carolyn Sullivan7

a fitting tribute for the finale

Dehan and Stone risk their lives again in pursuit of the resolution of a cold case file only to find the guilty in present day are anything but cold. As always, an interesting “who done it”. I will sorely miss this couple of crime fighters for their unique relationship and their determined method of finding out the truth.

Not the best

I love these characters but the story wasn't up to par. I knew who the killer was half way through so it was annoying waiting for the detectives to figure it out.
Also, the excessive use of woke was painful. Did the writer discover a new word? lol

We deserve another book to cleanse the pallet of this one! Mary Walter26

I too binge read the series once I found it...Number 30 was a fitting ending. I wish, however, that the readers did get to know more about the baby. I can only imagine the discussion of what to name him/her. My only criticism is that this was the only (if I recall correctly) that had any mention of politics. The woke angle just bothered me. Farewell, Stone and Dehan. carl clause336 6

CC1

If this was the last cold case mystrey it went out on top . It was Stone being the curmogen slowly plodding along with the evidence. Dedham suggesting different plots but Stone not acknowledging all their premise until he was ready . But what a great series. 10 stars plus !!! Thanks, Carl Clause Jennifer49 1 follower

Perfect ending

Rehab and Stone are my favorite crime fighting couple of all time. While sad to see them go it feels right, to see them slip off ready to finally enjoy the family they have sometimes spoken about. Their personalities will linger their stories will be unforgettable and what a perfect wrap! If you haven't read this series you have missed one of the best. Ronaele Whittington, D.S.W.229 3

Contemporary sex, gender, identity issues

Detectives must consider ALL angles in cold case investigations. Even the unthinkable must be explored. The incongruous factors might just converge to reveal some crazy truths. Bizarre possibilities exposed in this story. Cathy Gabany3

My most favorite series

I love John and Dehan. I anxiously waited for each book to come out. I will miss them. Do very sad their story had come to a close! This series is a must read! I will no doubt reread each book.

Thanks Blake for this awesome series. Joel Sebastian39

Fantastic

It is hard to believe that after 29 5 star books in a series book 30 could even be better. I got to live Stone and all if the characters that came to life in this series which will remain with me as I continue other Blake Banner series! Cheryl Hyde34

I loved all the books but I really didn't the ending of the last book. It should have been bigger. Yea I'm so happy he finally bought a house but what about a sneak peak into their lives as parents!!! Jeffrey288 2

Sad to seemthis series come to an end, but a solid send-off.

Dehan and John are a great couple and good partners.. good banter, solid insights and delightful humor.

A solid story although a twist that didn't make as.much sense as it could.

Awesome as is every book!

From the very first book in the series, I've been addicted. Absolutely top notch detective stories, and never know who did what until the end. Great relationship with Stone and Dehan. charlotte brinkman19 1 follower

Yeah

I've finished this series. Read them all. Enjoyed every one. I don't think I ever guessed the murderer till the end of the story. Great stories. Great author. I'm looking for more books by Blake Banner. rosemarie somfleth3

Another great cold case

Detectives Stone and Degan solved their last case. Read all 30 books and loved them all. Could not put them down. I will greatly miss them both. So sad Blake would not write another

A wonderful ending

Another great cold case with lots of twist and turn. As this is the last book in the series they all ride into the sunset together. He did leave room to continue just not as NYPD cops. Kim799 3

WOW!

Ok just what I thought. But this book was a page Turner. Something happening non stop for stone and Dehan. This series is better and better all the time. Can’t wait for the next one Janice M.2

Excellent book. I couldn’t stop reading until I finished!

I love this series. The characters are so well defined that I can picture them in my mind as I read. Please don’t wait so long for book 31. Hilary Farrell8

I love this series...

Goes along at a perfect pace, the backdrop of the Bronx as a character warms my heart, fond memories are brought to life with the the 43rd precinct, I adore Dehan and Sloan....keep em coming porfavor.

Great series

I really enjoyed this series, every time I thought I figured it out a twist popped up.
My only issue there were some misspelled words, words missing, and character names mixed up with each other. Barry Russell Russell1 review

A good ending to a very well thought out and written series.
Will definitely be missed David11

As with the first book, the writing was good and the editing mostly good (land bride should be land bridge). I found Munro Mountains capitalized as such curious, since it implies a mountain range of that name, when there is not in Scotland; munros are peaks above 3000 feet there. The effort to survive was the most interesting part, especially in the group in Europe as they trek back toward England. The plan of the US group to get to Fort Knox was murky at best and derided even by the characters. The science was still the biggest let down. No further explanation as to how it started (book 1 believed a surprise collision of something with the moon), and absolutely nothing to support why this would all cause the core of the earth to reach the temperature of the sun and destroy the atmosphere and the planet. No science to support having the Hadron collider go a certain velocity to stop this unexplainable reaction. No idea why scientists who work there every day would inexplicably forget their safety gear with an unfortunate result. The last chapter of the London bunker was odd, though I hope in book 3 it will make more sense. post-apocalyptic-astronomical post-apocalyptic-weather-geo1 janet c seaberg111 2

Better than book one

This was better than book #1, but. I did have to read the first before I started this one. The premise is good, though, so I'll try to find #3. These split stories are hard for me to read. You authors tend to throw too many characters in, then you need to add more detail, so they get too convoluted to easily follow. It's a lot reading Russian literature. I'd love to see 2 two part books. Thanks! Mrs Aerona Hawkins14

Breathtaking

I became caught up in the character’s and the scenarios from page one. Scott and Alan what a pairing closely followed by Kenny, Bethany and Alex all determined to survive and keep a veneer of civilisation in place. I can’t wait for the next book and will probably read that in a day .
Ray Smillie550

Whilst not quite as good as the opened, which was excellent, I was delighted to discover that, as I had hoped, a sequel will follow. Even better it will be a trilogy. In the aftermath this is about a few people and groups dealing with having to survive, especially against self titled rulers. Ends nicely on a cliffhanger setting it up nicely for the final part.1 William F Lesshafft21 1 follower

Characters Are Worth The Read

The plot was good with possibly too many sub plots to keep track of.

But the development of the characters is massive...with those surviving awaiting the next book.

The End is Here

Continuing the story, friends and loved ones continue to die. Many have no clue what is to come, and many more have a hard time excepting what has already happened. With more twist and turns that switch backs on a mountain, there is plenty to come. Alan AspinallAuthor 5 books26
