Caroline, a highly sought after life coach, seems to have the most glamorous life - with celebrity clients and a handsome husband.?
?
Until it all comes crashing down. ?
?
She used to be the student of Devorah, a retired and cantankerous professor - who is also now suing her for stealing her book idea.?
?
And then a devastating personal scandal has her fleeing to her Cape Cod hometown, and hopefully with Devorahs help - get her life back in order.
?
This was such a fun, fast read - it was rooted in friendship and how the choices we make - no matter how small - can affect us and our legacy in some big ways. Theres a bit of a second chance romance, a hilarious and cranky older MC, and some really clever and fascinating bits of philosophy that had me wanting to read some of the classic works.?
?
Its the perfect mixture of beachy vibes, witty laugh out loud moments, and some emotionally bittersweet sadness - but ultimately a imaginative breath of fresh air story that I enjoyed immensely!?

this book has a little bit of everything.
philosophy, friendship, cheating, second chance romance, grief, the list goes on.
our two leading ladies, Caroline, best-selling self-help extraordinaire, and Devorah, retired philosophy professor and chihuahua owner, are on opposite sides of a lawsuit. Dev decided to sue her former friend and mentee, Caroline, because she basically stole her lifes work and published it.
in confronting each other, Devorah and Caroline are forced to confront the grievances that made them part ways originally, as well as other aspects of their past.
i really enjoyed the perspective on friendship, getting older, and the philosophy tidbits in this book. the best part of this book was definitely Devorahs scathing personality. if i had a devil on my shoulder, i imagine it would be something Devorah.
Caroline, on the other hand, fell flat for me. her personality and character arc felt a bit underdeveloped. despite some backstory, i didnt feel i knew why she was the way that she was or why she ultimately changed. her relationship with her jilted lover Danny Diaz was also confusing to me. because they both felt underdeveloped, i didnt understand their history/why they d each other, and i could never tell where they were at.

I was able to read an advance copy of this title on NetGalley.
Caroline is on top of the world, a best selling author and self help guru, making appearances on talk shows - when suddenly it seems her entire life is going up in flames, both personally and professionally.
This book is a lovely read, if quite sad, and sometimes melancholy. It is something of a love letter to Cape Cod. 2 s Elaine Speranza-Romano633 3
