Sinopsis

Hairdresser Dayla Jeffreys rents a booth at a high-end salon but needs another job to make ends meet. While scrolling through employment listings online, she stumbles upon what seems to be the perfect second job cat sitting. She likes cats, and they're such independent creatures, she probably only needs to change the food and scoop the litter box twice a day. It sounds like easy money.
On the phone, Ms. Meredith sounds like a Type A workaholic, too busy to take care of her own cats and eager to hire someone else to do it for her. She asks Dayla to meet her at a posh home in an ultra-rich neighborhood to go over the details of the job. Women like Ms. Meredith are way out of Dayla's league.
So she's pleased to learn Keri Meredith is an attractive. down-to-earth small business owner and cat foster mom. Keri works long hours and needs someone to check on her latest foster, a calico who's expecting kittens at any moment.
Trouble is, Dayla has no experience with birthing cats...

Crazy about the Cat Lady is a quick read and charming novella.

Dayla Jeffreys and Keri Meredith meet after Dayla answers a help wanted ad. Keri volunteers with an animal rescue league fostering pregnant cats and kittens. She shares her modest home with her own two cats. A new job for her swimming pool installation company has her desperate for help with her feline family. Dayla works a variety of shifts at a high end hair salon, but she needs this extra part-time job to augment her income. After a quick meet and greet, Dayla finds Keri very attractive. She's confident that she knows enough to handle basic cat sitting tasks twice a day, but she doesn't know anything about cat midwifery. Keri reassures her that everything will be fine.

J. T. Marie has written a short and sweet lesbian romance. Without the usual surprises or dramatics, it's lovely to see nature take its course between two adult women. As much as I d the story, it's too short to do more than get the main characters to a romantic starting line. I rarely bother reading short fiction that isn't part of an anthology, but Amazon failed to list a page or word count this time. I'd rate this feel good romance with 3.5 stars.read-and-reviewed short7 s Jess980 64

If there’s lesfic with a cat in it, I will read it. Period. But for a short story with ‘cat’ in the title and cute kitty on the cover, the majority of the work was totally devoid of our feline friends!

Dayla, a hairdresser in need of a little extra cash, applies on Indeed for a cat-sitting job for Keri Meredith, who she assumes is a wealthy businesswoman. I thought there would be a fun plot twist involving the actual cats—a mishap, a bonding moment—but instead, a huge bulk of this short work is devoted to Dayla figuring out that Keri is a different type of woman than she expected.

I Dayla as a narrator. She’s hardworking, smart, and optimistic, and she approaches her crush on Keri with total confidence. She also insists she adores cats, but we don’t really see it in action. She almost seems more aloof around Keri’s cats than friendly with them. However, the scene at the end involves copious amounts of kittens and the start of a new relationship, so all is not lost.

It’s thin on plot, and fellow crazy cat ladies may want more, but it’s a cute story with a likable lead that will leave you smiling.arc-lovebytes character-stylist format-kindle ...more6 s TinneanAuthor 82 books435
