This was such a quick and easy read. I love the overall story, and the way it ended was so sweet. Declan is what most women dream of having in a friend and a lover to more. I also love how the author wrote how hard it can be for a Hispanic woman in a corporate setting. All the fears, the way people look at her, her own insecurities.

Declan is my favorite out of the two. His voice stood out to me. He was very different than most MC in most romance novels. He wasn't a jerk at first. He was very kind, helpful, and respectful. I love that he was written that way. He did have a hard time with Mira and communicating things properly, but not nearly as much as Mira herself.

While I admire Mira greatly, she was one of my least favorite FMCs. The way she treated Declan was gross. She was rude and downright nasty. While I understand where she is coming from, there comes a point where she just needs to grow up. She acted quite childish, and it bothered me. I'm so glad she grew and learned to communicate properly instead of shutting down.

By the end of the story, I was happy that they were together. They really clicked and resolved their issues. The author didn't spend forever with the back and forth, and I admire that. I can tell it's a debut novel, but I have such high hopes for this author. The way she wrote this was perfect for the characters and story, and I hate 3rd person usually. I enjoyed this book!!2 s4 comments Rebel1,091

This proved to be a delightful and swift read. The overarching story captivated me, and the sweet conclusion added a charming touch. The narrative revolves around two individuals grappling with the challenge of expressing their emotions. Mira, in particular, faced considerable difficulty, her past experiences with men coloring her perception of Declan, despite his genuine efforts. The book delves into a relatable theme—navigating the complexities of expressing feelings and extending help, even when it may be misconstrued.

This well-crafted romance introduces us to the engaging characters of Declan and Mira, highlighting their stark differences and the thrilling push-and-pull dynamic between them. Declan, a young and diligent executive, and Mira, eager to prove herself, offer a refreshing contrast. The dual narrative perspective, providing insights into both their thoughts and feelings, enriches the storyline. Overall, it's a fun and well-written romance that keeps readers engaged and entertained.

An enjoyable contemporary romance with an enemy to lovers and an office romance theme. Declan Jordan is Mira Vasquez’s boss but having crossed a massive line Mira could end his career. However, Mira uses the situation to her advantage and agrees not to say anything to the board if he helps further her career. Soon Declan wants to get to know Mira on a more personal level, but to do so means breaking their pact. He would have to take a chance that Mira won’t want to end his career once she knows him better. I d having the dual POV as it meant I felt more engaged with both main characters. The chemistry between Mira and Declan came across in the narrative and I d how their relationship developed throughout the story. A sweet romance with plenty of humour, emotions and a bit of drama all of which kept me happily turning the pages. 2 s2 comments Daryian210

I really enjoyed this book! I d the 3rd person dual POV a lot. Sometimes if not done well, it can be confusing but not with this read. It wasn’t too long of a book and I enjoyed the character dynamic. 2 s Tricia CopelandAuthor 28 books956 Read

I loved diving back into the Perfect friend group with this book. You'll find a new voice with Maria Jane's second novel, a third person POV that enables you to experience not only Mira's thoughts and feelings but also the male protagonist, Declan.

Mira is a scrappy go-getter and she's embarking on a new career. There's only one downside to her new job, her boss. She'd had him as a professor and experienced him as a heartless hard ass. Day one she finds another reason to be stressed about the new position, her office mate/former nemesis from real estate school, Cade. And he's just as competitive as before.

Declan is a young executive that's worked hard to get to where he is. Unfortunately one misstep with Mira puts his job at risk. No matter his good intentions, he finds himself in a precarious position. And he'd do anything, or almost anything to make it right.

Can these three find common ground? You'll have to find out in Perfect Office Pact!

Here are all the details:

Blurb:
Their rules are simple.
He'll keep his nose out of her personal life and help further her career.
She won't tell the board what he did.

Declan Jordan crosses a line—a massive line—and he'll probably lose his job if Mira files a complaint. When your boss majorly screws up, even if it leads to the thing you’ve been looking for your whole life, why wouldn’t you take advantage? Even if that means spending time with a man impossible to work with.

Mira Vasquez pricks Declan's every nerve. When she was his student, her quick tongue and incessant questioning annoyed him to his wit’s end, but he had to hire her. She ranked top of her class and is bilingual. Now, he’s her boss. That’s a position he never wanted to be in.

Seeing her every day drives him wild because he can't know her he wants. Then, when he delves too deep, she turns the tables, leaving him in an even more precarious position. Further, there’s little chance she’ll ever see beyond his one misstep.

To convince her he’s not that person, he’ll have to break the pact he made with her, and she could end his career with one swift keystroke.

Find out if Declan is willing to risk everything for a what if with Mira in Perfect Office Pact today!

This is my first book that I've written in the third person, so the reader gets a glimpse into not only the female protagonist's feelings, but also the male protagonist's thoughts and feelings. I loved writing this book from this viewpoint because Declan has a unique story.

Declan's character and personality is opposite from Mira's, and they have a very tense relationship in the beginning. From Mira's standpoint, he's definitely the enemy even though he's now her boss. A former professor of hers, she's pegged him as a hardline perfectionist.

And then he does something very stupid, but sweet at the same time. And their dynamic is forever changed. Due to a huge misstep on his part, she takes the upper hand in their relationship.

But she's not as tough on the outside as she portrays herself either and a bond begins to form.

Will Declan break his promise and risk his job? Can Mira see him through a different lens?

How this story plays out definitely has me smiling. I enjoyed creating the twists and turns in the story and hope that you'll not see them coming. I love those unexpected plot lines in books and aim to create them in my work.

I dedicated this book to my sister. Rest in peace, Ree Ree.2 s1 comment Chad Barrus922 20

Mira is a hard nut to crack! She believes her boss hates her but wants to work for the company because it’s the best real estate firm in Lexington and can further her career. She is surprised by his coming to her aid on her first day and after applying herself diligently she feels she may be getting appreciated. Then he happens to witness her breakup with her boyfriend and what is said and taking matters into his own hands deduces what she meant and finds whom she has been searching for and arranges for her to meet him. However, she is far from being grateful and demands things from him in return for keeping silent. As time goes on her conscience starts to bother her over this and then it blows up when the truth comes out and she loses her job. However, her ex boss still tells her he loves her and she finally sees he is a good man after all.

This is what could be considered an enemies to friends to lovers eventually at the end story especially from Mira’s point of view! Relationships are complicated and dating the boss is taboo if it’s against the rules. In todays society it seems if someone does something for someone with good intentions even though they don’t tell the other person what they’re doing, it can led to lawsuits and litigations! It’s sad because in times past a person would be grateful for that knowledge and express appreciation for it. How times have changed! Our world now revolves around lawyers and law suits and everyone suing everyone for whatever reason they can think of. A sad commentary on our society today.

I enjoyed this book of two people who struggled to express their feelings. Mira especially seemed to have the hardest time because she just couldn’t believe DeClan was a good guy regardless of everything he did for her. Her experience with past boyfriends jaded her opinions of all men and put him
In that same category! I think it’s a book everyone will enjoy reading because they can relate to what Declan and Mira experience in this world of trying to express one’s feelings and helping others even if that help my be misconstrued!

Getting around the non dating the boss rule, communication and honesty are key in any relationship and when they were finally able to open up and talk she found he was someone who was a real “keeper”!1 1 comment Audrie Harrington92 2

This book kept me turning pages late into the night so I could see what was going to happen! Mira just graduated from real estate school and has been picked as the top prospect for Jordan Reality. She is young, living in an apartment above her parent’s garage, and sharing an office with Cade, the big mouth from school who came in second place. She is hoping to win Rookie of the Year and learn all she can from working at such a great company. She is excited about the job, but not the boss Declan. He was one of her professors for a few classes and she thinks he may hate her. Declan is a genius and runs a huge company at the age of 30. Declan ends up crossing a line and crossing boundaries in her privacy. She could get him in trouble but instead they make a pact. She will keep his secret if he helps her be the best. He pushes the boundaries because he just wants to know her better and she starts to learn more about his quirks. There are a lot of great characters between the people at work, Mira’s family, and her friend group and the story lines were perfect! Now I need to go back and read Bree’s story in the first book!2024-reads1 2 comments Samantha 6 1 follower

I really enjoyed the back and forth with Declan and Mira. I believe it gives a more quirky outcome to crushing on someone from a distance.
He started out as her professor for Real Estate courses(2 yrs) and then became her boss at Jordan Realty.

Spoiler alert***But Declan is a high functioning autistic genius and Mira just thinks he hates her.

The last part of the book tends to run through time (weekly)and the final chapters feel a let down and quick to end their story. Honestly, I wanted more of them together and how they meshed as a couple. How did his brother interact with them after? How was dating for them, once given the chance?

It was a fun read and I did review it in advance for a free E-reader copy. This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.Show full review1 1 comment Emily Pennington18.7k 310

When Things Go Wrong . . .

Declan Jordan and Mira Vasquez encountered each other previously as he was her college professor. Now he is her boss at work. When he tries to do something nice for her, with no intention to upset her, he oversteps boundaries, she misconstrues his actions, and it all backfires on him. He could lose his job if she files a complaint about what he did. Will she use that against him in some way? But both of them had been close to crossing a professional line. Will Cade’s interference end up costing Mira her job? If he forces Mira to resign, how will Declan respond to that situation? Will she blame him for what happened?reviewed1 2 comments Darian - Books With A Chance 404 6

This is a nice slow burn, clean read, romance. I feel Mira’s character started out strong; I really d that she knew what she wanted, wasn’t going to take any crap, and pushed herself. During the half way point she really started to bug me and I felt she needed to get over herself. I enjoyed the other characters, Cade is great and I’m glad they developed a friendship. Usually having so many characters to keep up with bothers me but I felt the amount of characters interacting in the book was good and no one clashed to make it confusing. I really d her friends and glad to see there are other books with her friends romances. I do wish there was more of the actual relationship of Mira and Declan but I am glad they got their happy ending. The short time we see them together I feel they had good chemistry so I’m not mad with the ending. ibbb-reads1 Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba353 3

Mira and Declan first met when he taught a few of her real estate classes. She just knew that he disd her. Declan made a mistake that could land him in some hot water if Mira ever decided to report him to the board. Would it be worth it to get him out of her hair? They make a pact that Mira won't go to the board if he helps her to become one of the best realtors out there. Working in such close proximity will have one of them wanting to get out of the pact. Will they cross that line and get a happily ever after?1 2 comments Ayla Eddy104 6

This was my first read by Maria Jane and I cannot wait to dive into another of her books. This story is of the trope of coworkers enemies to lovers. One of my favorite romance tropes and she did a good job with it. This one being more on the slow burn side. The characters were well written and sucked you into the story. Even the side characters are likable. You know it is a good read when you want to reach into the pages and shake the characters at times. 1 2 comments Michele Del Rey2,033 25

I am enjoying the Pact stories by Tricia/Maria and was excited when I saw there was another book out. I have read a lot of work written as Tricia and have enjoyed them all immensely. I love the variety of genre’s that she writes in both names.
Perfect Office Pact by Maria Jane is a contemporary romance tale. I d that she is now writing in the third person POV because it gives a story more depth and gives us as readers a much broader and in-depth insight into the person, their feelings and their thoughts.
Declan and Mira have a push pull relationship neither quite knowing how to express their feelings. There were times I wanted to smack them and tell them to get it together and other times I wanted to hug them. The jury is still out on Mira’s use of the pact.
Perfect Office Pact is written well but the ending for me feels it ended abruptly. It didn’t quite finish as smoothly as it could have. Having said that the story is fun and keeps readers engaged.
This book will keep you entertained with fun and humour, emotions, some angst, a fair bit of frustration and some sweet romance.1 1 comment Santana262 4

Mira thinks she is on the track of having everything she ever wanted. A long term boyfriend whom she thinks she loves and wants a future with, and she landed a job in one of the best Realty companies out there. The only issue is her boss.

Mira’s boss is a pompous jerk according to her. He was her professor when she took Real Estate classes and he seemed to get annoyed by every little thing she did so why would he hire her? She doesn’t want to question it but when it seems as if he still diss her, she starts questioning his motives. It seems as if Mira can’t get out of her own head and starts self sabotaging her relationship, she questions her boyfriends commitment to her. She blames the fact that she never knew her father as being the culprit of why she feels unlovable.

Declan appears as a narcissist but in reality he is just reserved with strong defenses around him. What Mira saw as hints of annoyance was actually hints of annoyance to his feelings about her. He shouldn’t Mira that way since she is basically the opposite of him but he can’t help it. He crosses a line out of genuine care but Mira doesn’t see it that way and blackmails him to take her under his wing in the Realty world or else she will tell everyone what he did. Things are very strained and tense between the two. Declan needs to tell her how he feels but will she feel the same?

Honestly, I hated Mira’s character. She is judgemental and childish. Throughout the book she was all over the place. She would say one thing and then change her mind. Her thoughts were so repetitive that I started getting annoyed with her character quite early in the book. Mira mentions 3 guys at the beginning of the book that at first I had no idea who the love interest was actually going to be.

I was interested in Declan, he remained a mystery for the most part. You only receive glimpses of the real Declan as time goes on, but underneath he seems a sweet guy who just had his broken so hes slow to open up. Kerry carr1,539 17

This is a really interesting contemporary romance. It was full of touching scenes, humour and a little bit of drama that makes me keep reading more.
I love how the author tells the story from the point of view of both our MCs. It gives the reader a more complete understanding on what the characters are thinking and feeling and also make their reactions make more sense.

Declan and Mira have had a strained relationship from the start. Mira was sure that Declan hated her whereas Declan was just confused about why he was feeling certain things around her.
Fast forward and Mira is now hired in Declan's company. However the tension is still their between them and Mira doesn't understand what's caused it.
As the story progresses Declan finds himself in a compromising position and he could lose it all if Mira decides to make a complaint. But she sees this as her opportunity and she promises it will go no further if he helps her progress her career.
If only that was where the story ends. At the same time all this is going on Mira is having doubts about her relationship with her partner who doesn't seem ready to commit and move the relationship forward. Could Declan actually be the guy she is looking for?
This is a sweet story and I loved how eventually as Mira gets to know Declan better she understands his behaviour and his quirks and what she realises really surprises her.
This was a really enjoyable read and I can't wait to more from this author.2 s2 comments Angela5,771 73

Perfect Office Pact (Perfect Romance Series) by Maria Jane is a sweet opposites attract office romance. This is another fun romance, with just enough drama to keep things interesting.
With another simple and cute cover, it drew me, and it really suits the style of the story.
Having enjoyed Maria Jane’s other work, I happily grabbed a copy of this when I saw that it had released- and spent a couple of hours of light, entertaining reading.
Perfect Office Pact proved to be a light-hearted, interesting, and touching read. It is a enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story where opposites attract, and find love unexpectedly. Declan and Mira’s story is told from a duel POV, while providing plenty of emotion, humour, sweet and tender scenes, and starring great characters. I enjoyed the way the story was woven, even if it was a little predictable at times.
When Declan finds himself in a compromising situation, he will do anything to make things right. What happens makes for a sweet read.
I must admit that I didn’t Mira to begin with, so I was a little worried that I would be disappointed - but Maria Jane wove her magic and Mira won me over in the end.
Looking forward to seeing what Maria Jane has in store for us next!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Maria Jane!

Adorable forbidden romance with an enemies to lover twist

Mira is on of those characters who grows on you. Driven and determined to succeed partially due to the mysteries in her past . Between her arch rival landing a job at the same firm and a boss who seems to have it out for her - maybe easier said than done. Especially when her best efforts at a good first day turn into a rom-com disaster!

Declan is just so deliciously socially awkward. I felt for him - when a friendly gesture goes seriously sideways due to factors he didn't consider, yeah, felt that one, deep. And the more you get to see of him, I just d him more. So different from the typical male lead.

I loved watching the way their relationship slowly grew and changed. How they changed, both dealing with past trust issues and gradually opening up, seeing the other in a totally different way. The way the relationships around them grew and blossomed. The missteps and triumphs, leading to a very satisfying HEA. Beautiful book that is both a fun light read, and holds a lot more depth than the typical office romance.1 2 comments Lisa3,217 14

This one is was rough for me. Mostly because I did not care for the actions of both characters throughout most of the book. She is very combative and he seems restrictive and obviously has some sort of issue. Just their interaction through a large portion of the book was off putting. Him secretly wanting her and she is basically clueless for years. Too many breakdowns and tantrums for the story. There is very little romance and when they do she always has her foot half way out the door. Arg! I really felt for Declan numerous times. Just with his attitude and struggles he has to go through daily but he offers hope because never seems to give up trying.

Overall this is just an okay story for me. I think I wanted more pleasant interaction as time went on between them and it just doesn't really happen.

Perfect Office Pact

I don't find myself relating much to these younger characters, but I felt a connection Mira and her quest. I unfortunately decided too late to start my quest.

Mira is too young (as is her sister) to be as grown up and mature as they both are but I understand why they are both that.

Declan has all the confidence in the world except it seems when working with Mira who was also a student of his while she was in real estate school.

I couldn't put this book down and even stopped watching a baseball game because I had to find out what was going to happen next between the two and how it was going to end.

I absolutely adored this book, the characters and their story. I'm so glad to be off work so I can read all day instead of working. Great way to spend my day.1 2 comments Rosanna Ingram591 4

Mira has graduated at the top of her class and has just landed a job at Jordan Realty. Unfortunately, her new boss, Declan, was one of her professors that she is sure hates her. But, when Declan oversteps his boundaries and invades her privacy, the two strike up a deal. He will help her be the best in the office and, in return, she will not tell anyone what he did. Throughout the story, the two grow closer while feelings grow deeper. But, what happens when one of them wants out of the deal?!?

These characters were easy to become engrossed in. There is some miscommunication, inability to express feelings, humor and angst. There are times that I wanted to smack them and tell them to figure it out! But, the story is enjoyable and it kept me engaged. 1 2 comments Sheri844 4

Perfect Office Pact is a sweet romance. The book was a fun, enjoyable read that I finished quite quickly. Mira has started at a new workplace and already knows the boss. Declan, who taught some of Mira's classes, realizes that he sees Mira in a new light. The two have a conflict because Declan misstepped, and Mira could take it to the board. What should a guy do when he wants to know his employee better?
I enjoyed the story and the tension between the characters. I had a hard time with Mira at times because I enjoyed that she was strong-willed and knew what she wanted, but at other times, I just wanted to be done with her because she was annoying. In the end, I d her and how she was with Declan. The story was a fun, getaway and I look to read more from the author in the future.1 2 comments Marie Bourgery2,936 10

This book is about Mira’s experiences as a new real estate agent. Her superior Declan was a professor she thought didn’t her and her coworker Cade was her adversary in school and on the job. Declan helps Mira find her biological father and she blackmails him to mentor her over it but he can’t ask any more personal questions and gets mad at him when he’s at events her family is it and then she makes him answer personal questions which sounds a double standard to me. They secretly date until his brother Cade finds out. Declan is on the spectrum and this is revealed later in the book. The ending is a little rushed but I d the epilogue.1 2 comments Shannen556 15

This was such a cute office romance to read over the weekend. It’s a clean, sweet romance that was a nice break from my usual reading. This was my first book from this author, but I’ll be picking up more. It was refreshing to read about Mira and Declan as they evolved throughout the story. Mira is a strong woman that doesn’t take any guff from anyone. Declan wants to be more than just an office boss in Mira’s life. What’s more important, your career or love? It was fun to read, and though the flow of the story felt a bit jolting at times, overall, I really enjoyed the experience. If you sweet, clean office romances, look no further!1 2 comments Carla227 2

I love this author's writing style so I was very excited to jump into this romance! I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers romance. Mira is just starting out in her new job and is already not excited about her office mate. Then she meets her boss and he is also someone from her past. When a line is crossed Mira uses it to her advantage to get a leg up. I mean who can blame her. It was so easy to get into this story and will keep you turning pages to see what happens next. You don’t have to read all of the books in order either. I definitely recommend reading the others as they are really great reads!

A fun, well written romance read. Our main characters are Declan and Mira and I love how different they are and yet the push and pull is thrilling and captivating. Delcan is a young, hardworking executive and Mira is eager to prove herself. I love this is told from both points of view, so we get both of their thoughts and feelings thru the storyline. Just an overall fun romance read - I'm excited to see more from Jane.
