This was written by Maggie Shipstead, an author I really enjoy. However, this short story did not work for me. June agrees to assist a famous artist, Hiram Lammergeier on an Island. He was exploitive and verbally abusive. I just wasnÂ’t drawn to this at all. It did not show a woman defying convention or blazing a trail. The ending was the best part with a twist, but it didnÂ’t make the story decent for me.
