Sinopsis

Two women in different places in life find exactly what they are looking for together.

Skylar Nash’s life is in turmoil after her mom is unexpectedly killed in a car accident. She’s moved back to her hometown to get her mom’s life settled while putting her own on hold. Torn between the life she loves in the city with her girlfriend and giving her siblings the kind of small town childhood she had. She’s trapped. Unable to move forward, she takes over her mom’s job at the high school and is making friends with the teacher across the hall. The ever hot Miss Hensley.

Too bad the woman doesn’t think she is up to the task of raising her brother and sister. It’s the same thing Skylar thinks, but only her former teacher would say it out loud. To her face.

Leila Hensley has accepted that this is her life and it's in a rut. As a small town teacher, she puts all her time and energy into her students, trying to forget the fact that she was passed up for a principal position she’d coveted for years. At home she has her hobbies and her dog since her love life is long dead and with no prospects she has quit trying. She knows nothing will change.

Not until her best friend’s daughter starts teaching in the room across the hall from her. A woman who once was her student, but she had definitely grown up. Too bad Leila keeps putting her foot in her mouth whenever they speak.

A sizzling age gap romance between a former student and her teacher in a small town. Drawn together by a troubled boy, a sullen girl and a basset hound who loves them all.

So much drama could be avoided if the two MCs would communicate better with each other.
That and some editing problems put me off the book a little. age-gap8 s Gina L983

A Crazy Sweet Love Story!

This was a crazy story where a tragedy leads to many life changes for one family. Skylar is the oldest of four and when their mother is killed in a car accident she is forced to move back home after living in the city with her girlfriend. One sister is away in college and the two younger ones are in high school where their mother worked as a math teacher. Skylar also is a math teacher but in the city. Now living at home again, taking care of brother and sisters, trying to keep her girlfriend happy and trying to figure things out for the future. Something has to give. This was a sweet read. A typical Lindsey Pennington romance with a touch of crazy. 1 AL650 5

Beautiful Age gap story

I really the age gap stories, especially the well written one. This is a nice book with a lot of up and down moments, plenty of misconceptions, miscommunications and misunderstandings. About a family that need desperately to be whole again. A lovely book to read, with some tiny misspelling errors (but nothing serious)1 Kathy938

I'm really having trouble writing this review. It's truly a beautiful story about two teachers and an entire family in flux, but the writing needed so much help. I'm a retired teacher who would never have accepted this work as a final product. A proofreader was definitely needed. My students would have had to have a "do over" for sure. There are so many grammar, spelling and editing issues! We pay good money for these books and I believe her readers deserve better. This is my first book from Lindsey so I don't know if all her others are this as well. I'll try another just to give her a chance! Joyner4

Enjoyable! The on and off will they won't they gets a little repetitive, but overall it's not bad. There were a few quirks, and there wasn't one single character that didn't piss me off at least once over the course of the book. If you want sexual tension and slow-burn with genuine love, this is the book for you. If you get frustrated and want to throttle characters frequently, this may not be your cup of tea. Despite all this, it's not too angsty, even with the discussions of death, grief, and cheating. Kymbe126

Grade A

This was a well written age gap romance that develops the love story of a familiar character. The story follows the development of the relationship between Leila and Skylar after the death of Skylar mother who was Leila's best friend. The couple must navigate through grief, betrayal, fears and past trauma that threaten to derail the relationship at every turn. This is an enjoyable read with well developed characters and an intricate story line. Angela Rassette236 1 follower

Great sequel

I didn’t realize this was a sequel to “Not Asking for More” but I’m glad it is (and glad I read that first) because I was miffed how that one ended. I loved everything about this book. Frances Bell355 9

insightful

Every book I read adds to my knowledge of life. I love the teacher/student connection as well as the romance. The idea of alternative families is logical and endearing in spite of the trip to the end. Shanelle10

Errors

The storyline was good. But good lord, the spelling, grammatical, and continuity errors were doing my head in. I don't know how many times I had to backtrack to make sure I was reading it correctly. Denise M69

Awesome story

Really good storyline. Wonderful characters.

Needs some editing though, as there were some annoying grammar issues. Not enough to make reading difficult, but just enough to be annoying.

Overall a really great love story. Susan Ferrante69 1 follower

Wonderful Love Story

Great main characters and supporting characters. The love story was a slow burn, but believable. Many of life’s problems were well written with positive solutions. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will read more by Lindsey Pennington. Kirsty Grant46 3

Really enjoyed this one! Frustrated at times with the communication issues between the to MCs, but that obviously just added much loved angst of the story. The characters of the younger siblings were fun to read- as a high school teacher myself, they were very realistic!
