Well-paced thriller, featuring strong characters that you feel connected to and a plotline that keeps you interested, it canters along nicely. As a reader, you follow the detective picking up clues and interviewing suspects and witnesses but it never goes too far into police procedural. The sense of location and atmosphere is strong without being overly descriptive, and I felt that there was a good balance of personal and professional so that you understand why the main character gets caught up in the case. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this one, I've signed up to follow the author and will have to get the first book in this series. Judith Curran4

Another compelling story

I was delighted to see a second book from this author, as I had enjoyed the first so much. it’s predecessor, this story moves quickly, with lots of twists and turns, keeping the reader guessing and engaged throughout. I am really getting into this series as the characters develop and the plot thickens and I am loving the Northern Ireland countryside and descriptions of Belfast. This book features an international smuggling ring and has a lot of surprises along the way.
Gawn is a satisfyingly complex character and I look forward to knowing more about her and her past as the series goes on. Leo46 1 follower

This book was decent, I went into it expecting more focus on the case itself but there was a lot about Gawn's personal life and relations which didn't really engage me all too much.

A great follow up story

A great follow up story featuring SCI Gawn Girvin and her team. Full of action and a very well crafted story featuring a trip to the Netherlands. Lots of emotion. Looking forward to reading the next one in the series. Sylvia Dinnage68
