This is the first time I've read anything from this author and being book 1 in a new series, it's a great place to start. This is a clean, Christian romance and makes for very enjoyable reading. There are a number of characters that will, no doubt, go on to have their own books. This is the story of Gabe and Marnie, both parents who have lost their parents and decide to head west with their children.

This is not my normal style of romance but had some great characters and I would be happy to read more from this author. Both main characters go through periods of reflection and growth during the story and are not simply one-dimensional, which makes them all the more interesting. Bruce Dinsman1,026 2

Okay hooked again

Another Great story based on settling the Canadian West! Disease and death are common in frontier areas and often Wagon Trains crop up out of necessity. Martie lost a husband and her son will forever have the mind of a child. Gabe returns with 2 adult sons to join her journey west to see her other son. Bertie doesn’t change or people, preferring the barn and his animal menagerie. Gabe befriends him and discoveries Bertie’s affinity with animals makes him a great ox whisperer. That should be enough to get you reading. MaryEllen2,178 17

Marnie and Gabe met and were friends about twenty years ago, but lost track of each other after his wife died and he moved away with his boys.

I love the way this story worked out. The central characters all show some growth and we were given an intro to the family members that, I'm sure, will feature in other stories.
The characters and action were all realistic and entertaining.

This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from Hidden Gems Books. Debbie Thompson424 6

I enjoyed the book! Marnie had been widowed for about a year. She and three of her children were going to head west where her son was stationed as a Mountie. The next thing she knows, the group has gown and she now needs two wagons. Gabe and his wife were friends with Marnie and her husband until his wife died and he moved away. Gabe and his sons decided to join Marnie on the trek west. The entertaining animal in the book was Alice the goat! I highly recommend reading this book! Tanya13.6k 67

She has lost her husband so she goes on a wagon train so she can see her son. He will be there and he promised them he would help her. She wants nothing to do with him. Will he be able to help her? Can she get to her son? See if love becomes a new way for them to live

Linda Ford can only write books worth reading

However I found this particular story to drag in places and be boring in others. At times I had to force myself to keep reading. Not your usual Linda Ford story. However I still plan to read the second book in the series. I would to see what happens to all the characters in this story. Linda E Fogerty47

Wonderful story

I really enjoyed this book! Linda's writing was so touching! I fell in with the two families and admired Marine and Gabe! Marine was such a selfless person. Family and especially her son came first for her. Gabe understood her and her needs. What to say about Her is and the rest of the family! Such love and devotion comes shining through! A lovely read! I've enjoyed many books by Linda Ford, this is another one. Can't wait for follow up stores about other family members. I that this book started out with older couple following in love, and with how their older children handled it. Specially how her special needs son was cared for by every member of their group of travelers EmbGram201
