Good story, needs editing
Mr. Jeram-Crofts novel about his fathers experiences as a Naval pilot seconded to the RAF during the Battle of Britain is fascinating. I just wish that hed had a copy editor to go over his manuscript before it went to print.
The story of a young man a teenager volunteering to help protect his nation at the outbreak of the war, and then his first involvement in aerial fighting against German bombers and fighters, is an exciting story. That so much of it is historically accurate makes it that much better.
Unfortunately, the book is full of grammatical errors, particularly in the misuse of commas and run-on sentences, which interrupt the flow of the narrative. Just in the second chapter I counted more than fifteen such errors.
The story itself is interesting enough, though, that I continued reading not my usual wont. I will probably read the sequel as well, despite my frustration; I am interested in learning how the Royal Navy got over both its prejudice against flying and its lack of decent planes. Great Introduction To A Marvelous New Series
This is the beginng of a great WWII Air Story with lots of action And a very touching romance to keep it flowing.
Not just the usual action & problem stories, but some very unique tales that are just purely fiction. A great lineup of interesting characters & Adventures.
This story to me was a very helpful Prequel.
Fans of Spitfires & Merlins will enjoy, but also be introduced to an interesting variety of other aircraft & tales. Hard to put down. Chris Flanagan5
I d the different slant on the Battle of Britain the author gave in this novel, that is setting it in the South West and having it from a Fleet Air Arm pilots point of view.
The authors flying background and knowledge of the subject made for realistic aerial battles and conflict within the RAF regarding tactics during the battle.
It did get a little Boys own at the end, but it kept my interest and thats all I ask for with this sort of novel. I would recommend to anyone interested in WW2 air warfare. D.M. FletcherAuthor 1 book3
Exciting story
I really enjoyed this book. The author knows his stuff and reading this was a bit experiencing all the flying that goes on.
I have taken off at night in a light aircraft with only a car with headlights to show the end of what passed for a runway, so the rescue passage was very real. Ive even flown from Biggin Hill, which features.
If you non stop action this is the book for you. MR CHRISTOPHER402 3
Superb
From the moment I first lifted the front cover and started to read, I knew that I had a superb book. The story is so well told that you don't need to have an active imagination to see the characters, and the story unfold. Thank you for a wonderful and very enjoyable book. Mac Bogert68 3
nicely done
Its very UK in its tone and pace. If youre not in a hurry, youll love this. The plane sequences show a real experience with, and love of, flying. Very precise and gripping story of the Battle of Britain. Jenning b. Varney9

Great book
Save that it must have been edited by a machine in it's development stages, very early at that. Irritating spellings and missing words, must try harder. 09/01274
